One thing you can't complain with is the brightness of the stock G750 screen. I've never had a screen so bright. Max brightness was double that of my LG screen in my current GT60 and I had to turn it down to about 50% it was burning my eyes. Its also got good black levels and contrast. But a bit sparkly on white webpages
When I overclock and push max clocks I hit around 80 degrees on my 780M. But that's with the notebooks cooler booster on and the fan screaming. Very noisy. So your temp seems about right. If a little high for such a low overclock. If you have experiance in opening Asus laptops you could repaste the GPU and CPU which might help.
If its anything like my 780M and others I've seen you sould be able to add at least 100Mhz to the core and about 400-500Mhz to the ram. But watch your temps.

The 780M is a hot little chip, also with it's turbo it can run pretty fast if temperature allows (and the limit for this is set pretty high).
-
My attitude for the GTX780: +135 mhz +600 mhz. In games a maximum of 83 °
Then boost with 980MHz -
I have to overvolt a little to go over 1Ghz on the core. -
who the f*** do you overvolt .... everything locked here
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You have to use a modified video bios.
-
no no artifacts can go up to 700 mhz. I do not want to flash bios I do not trust myself to it. But 1ghz would be nice: D
-
Question: is there anywhere a setting to load the battery to 80% only ?
-
ok .... thats still a step to far for me .... don´t want to risk my gpu because of that ...
and anyway.... still have to improve cooling ... -
Where are folks getting their G750JH? I can't seem to find any in stock. Some shops say the laptop will be available mid Sept in the USA.
I'm on the fence between the MSI GT60-2OD, ASUS G750JH, and Razer Blade 14. -
-
It is a pity I don't have enough money for the g750jh, I will have to settle for the g750jx, it will be a huge upgrade from a ux31a though once I sell this stupid thing.

Got my G750JH in the mail this morning, here are some first impressions if anybody is interested:
-The chassis feels nice and sturdy. The brushed aluminum palm rest in particular is fantastic and the keyboard is a joy to type on.
-What voodoo magic did Asus use to keep this thing running so quiet and cool? I've been spamming firestrike tests and I can barely hear the fan churning at all. Temperatures barely hit the 70's on the GPU and CPU.
-Easy to replace the hard drives, just one screw. Stuck two 840 Pros in raid 0 and booted up right away. (I am not using the dual msata option but that is possible also depending on the model you buy).
-Everything else is NOT easy to replace, including RAM. The RAM is some generic Chinese brand, which isn't a huge deal considering how minute a difference RAM makes in performance, but I'll still be switching it out for Kingston Hyper X when I have more time this weekend.
-Everyone keeps worrying about repasting this machine but I think the unique way everything fits together makes it unnecessary. Maybe a few years down the line...
-I have yet to encounter any of the screen problems people reported on the other models. I do not have very picky eyes, but the screen seems in line with most other matte laptop screens, perhaps a bit on the grainy side. I'll see about having the screen replaced this weekend also when I chat with HIDEVOLUTION.
-I HAVE heard random white noise while wearing headphones and not playing any sound. Scared the crap out of me when it happened, but apparently this is a pretty common issue. Not sure if there is a fix, but not a huge deal unless u wear headphones in silence for extended periods of time.
-This model does have the haswell chipset problem regarding USB 3.0 and restarting the computer. Everyone knows what it is by now, a nuisance depending on how often you restart with USB ports in use.
-Stock firestrike results were 5100 or so. Haven't flashed the unlocked 780m vbios or done any other tuning yet, but a good enough score out of the box to run any modern game at 60 fps on high settings at least.
-Tocuchpad is enormous and a pleasure to use also if you don't have a mouse plugged in for some reason. I expect I'll use the touchpad less than 10% of the time, but it's nice to know when I do use it that it will feel nice.
On a personal note, I like the design. Very sleek and well.. "stealth," as they intended. I'm not into flashy laptops, but I also didn't want to buy something I found aesthetically ugly like the Sagers or felt cheaply made like the MSI notebooks. I'm pretty happy with my purchase, ~$2400 is good value for this system. Recommended. -
Regarding the sound issues, apparently it only occurs when using headphones with low impedance.
-
Since the hiss is exactly the same on 2% volume as it is on 100%, I can now get it loud and nice with no hiss at all. The computer's volume is now set to about 70%, compared to about 10 without the extension cord. This gives the same volume minus the hiss. -
how much you bought your g750jh?
-
I got mine last week and I can confirm titansfan impressions. Although I haven't noticed the white noise problem. I'm very happy with the G750JH so far!
-
So the screen on my 750jw went south today - a line right through the center that shows immediately on the spash screen, bios, etc (obviously hardware). I am sure Asus will take care of it, and hopefully it won't take too long to repair. And who knows, maybe I talk them into replacing it with a glossy screen????

No harm in asking if they can. That was either a line driver in the panel going or the cable coming loose, but not user serviceable either way.

Hello all this is my first post but I've been reading a lot and I want to make my contribution.
( excuse my english tough...)
I wanted a portable gaming option to game while I'm overseas for work.
My wife & young son will be happy that I do my gaming in hotel rooms iso home.
After a lot of research I ordered my G750JH-CV090H on monday and got it yesterday
In case there is anyone needing a Azery keyboard for a good price : http://www.tones.be/product/g750jh-fast-cv090h-be-i7-4700hq-16gb-250gb-ssd-750gb-hdd-gt780m-4g
I've only used it for a day but I know some of you would like to know this stuff and it seems only fair I put in my contribution for all the great info I found here.
Windows 8 (test) gave it a score of 7.9
My first thoughts :
overall :
Nice sleek design, no ugly coloured leds, just the practical background leds for keyboard & things like power etc
Great specs for only 1899 euro, I'm happy I waited and did not buy a noisy clevo, expensive Alienware or ugly MSI that has a weak PSU for the 780m.
It's the cheapest and only 'azerty' keyboard (Belgium & France) G750JH I've ever seen on sale so I guess I'm lucky to get this one.
Watch out, some gtx 780m on sale in france have the smaller vents that are used for the 770m or lower so they might be noisier/hotter.
It came with a rather good asus gaming mouse, 1 piece of 3d vision (version 2) glasses and a usefull black asus backpack like this guy : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uajF7I1UQjE
All in all I'm wondering if I'm still going to use my desktop since this does the same or better.
So mostly positive but I cannot get the Killer wifi to work (more on this later) and I did not receive any dvd or licence codes for windows 8 and drivers.
Screen:
I got the 120hz version with a 3D sensor next to the webcam. A test with Civ 5 worked better than I expected but I don't know if it's good for my eyes on the long therm.
To play movies / you tube in 3d I need in install more stuff as explained in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAPl-AeKh6I or https://www.3dvisionlive.com/
I switched the desktop between 120hz and 60hz and I could see the mouse and windows moved smoother with 120hz so that made me happy thinking this is well worth it.
The screen is crisp & very bright, surely a plus for bright rooms or outside. Until now I have not found any bad pixels
I would recommend anyone to get a version with this screen and 3d is a nice thing to play with.
The screen does seems glossy to me vs my matt desktop but it has not bothered me yet.
How to get the specs of the screen I don't know but if someone explaines I'll post it.
keyboard & mouse:
No complaints on the keyboard and the leds shining from under the sides are a nice addition without looking too much like the alienware xmas tree laptops.
The mousepad is big and I like they added the physical buttons but I prefer to use the included usb (with cord) mouse.
It has has the usefull dpi change button to adjust how fast your mouse travels on screen versus the size of movement you make.
CPU & GPU:
No complaints, can't see any difference to my desktop (my desktop has limited oc'd gtx580 & ivy bridge at 4ghz using the std msi oc genie).
I'll try a limited oc a bit if I find a good explanation how to do it without needing too much knowledge ;-)
If any want want me to benchmark/get temps, I'll be happy to if you tell me what software to use & where to download ;-)
One of my main reasons to get this Asus was noise and I must say it's better than I expected, my recent desktop (well vented gaming case) makes much more noise in idle than the G750 playing civ5 in 3d.
I've not done any gaming on demanding games yet but the fans are barely heard when using the desktop or playing civ 5 for 1/2 an hour in 3d.
Really happy with this... noisy fans irritate me, our world is too noisy as it is when you go outside.
HD & SSD:
I was surprised to read in the system specs (my computer) that the included ssd is the brandnew samsung 840 EVO 250gb.
I expected something cheaper, another good surprise. Tomshardware published a positive review of this ssd.
Everything I did up to now seems very responsive and as quick as my desktop that runs on a samsung 840 pro 256gb.
Ive not tested the included 750gb hard disk much but it seems a decent WD 7500BPKX-80PJT0.
Memory:
My laptop came with 16gb, more than I would have gotten if I configured my own but I guess better too much than not enough.
I remember reading something about switching off the paging file etc with this amount of ram to reduce wear on the sdd but don't remember how.
DVD:
Probably the noisiest item in the laptop but I don't use it often so I don't mind.
DL DVD but no bluray but I don't have any of those so I don't think I'll miss this.
connections:
The Killer wireless N-1202 (2.4 & 5ghz+ blutooth 4.0) is the only trouble Ive ran into up to now but maybe it can be fixed?
It sees my wifi TP-link but not always and it doesn't want to connect to it when I fill in the password etc.
My smartphone and other devices never had this issue and yes good strength & I tested them from the same position.
trying to connect from the wifi router (using the button) did not work either, I'm at a loss :-( maybe it's the drivers?
The drivers seem up to date, maybe I should update/flash my wifi router? Any advice would be appreciated
A pity it did not come with the new intell AC 7620 wifi card, does anyone know if I could swap these or is in on the motherboard?
Just enough plugs for me (4 usb3, 1 hdmi, 1 vga, thonderbolt etc), including a special usb to quickly charge things like smartphones.
Removing the internet cable was a but tough with my first cable but all is well with a different cable and it's nice and fast.
software:
Win 8 & all drivers were installed and it booted without any issues.
But I did not find any cd/dvd with software or codes to re-install win 8, is this normal ?
What should I do if I want to reinstall windows using this licence without having any dvd or codes?
PSU:
It comes with a 230W psu. This should be much better for the gtx 780m than the msi 180W version that uses the battery for extra juice during gaming.
It's as big as a small brick and just as heavy but this is to be expected.
.
I hope this can be helpfull and someone can give me a tip about the wifi not working & missing win 8 dvd/licence. -
That rig for that price is DA BOMB!!!
What is the exact Serial Number?
I mean G750JH-????
Great deal right there! -
Could people posting reviews/impressions please provide full model numbers? That way the rest of us can tell whether we're buying the same model or not... -
On the back of the laptop it says ASUS G750JH-CV090H
So the same as on the website, see link on the bottom of p127 (except for 'fast' and BE, BE stands for the Belgain azerty keyboard I guess).
I edited my small review and added this as requested...

Windows 8 machines have the key embedded in the bios.
-
It seems like Microsoft and manufacturers are continually going out of their way to make it harder for advanced users to do a clean install copy of their OS.
-
So I have a new ASUS G750JH laptop and I'm considering trying to do some light OCing on the 780M. Does anyone have suggestions for an OCing noob? I've heard that it's safe to increase the GPU's clock speed by 10MHz at a time, checking stability along the way. Any gurus want to give me some tips?
-
that sounds a bit too much on the safe side. you can easily start by setting clocks to +10% of their normal value, then increasing them further from there in 2% increments
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If it's like the 680M the minimum real clock change will be 13mhz at a time.

Well overclocking at all technically voids your warranty....

Just got my G750JX and finished installing all the drivers except PCI Simple Communications Controller - shows an exclamation mark in Device Manager and I can't figure out what it needs
So I installed Torchlight II and this notebook has the worst audio of anything I ever used. Knowing it's not the game, because the audio is great from my desktop and sounded pretty darn good on the MSI GT70 I just returned, I tried tweaking the audio settings from the really awful looking Realtek UI but all I get is crackling. Should I send this notebook back too or is there a fix for it? Really getting tired of using up my favors at Amazon to return stuff. -
I have the Asus G53 and uninstalled the realtek drivers first thing - it certainly helped with my heaphones and external speakers.
-
-
I just ordered my Asus g750jx two days ago, and I am hoping it was the good choice rather than an alienware, msi or clevo/sager. I am a little worried, the sager seems to have been cheaper, but went with asus for my price range.

Thanks for the clarification butros - unfortunately for me after reinstalling win7 and not installing the Realtek drivers, I still get the same crackling audio. Is it safe to assume now that it's not software related but hardware?

Just wanted to drop in and give a few small impressions of my first time trying out a G750 in-person. It was at my local Best Buy and I think it was the G750JW model (it had a GTX 765M). I only used it for a few minutes before I lost interest so I don't have anything to say that probably hasn't already been mentioned, and definitely nothing very in-depth.
First of all, the industrial design is pretty much identical to the G46. The two were displayed side-by-side in the store and everything, right down to the shape of the power button, looked the same on the G750, just bigger. The illuminated ROG shield logo on the cover is nice.
I was less-than-enamored with the build quality and feel like it's taken a step back compared to the G74 and G75. The screen and lid assembly are not as solid as I remember and easier to flex when bending from the corners. Also, it doesn't take a lot of pressure from behind the screen to make ripples appear. I know these seem like niggling complaints but the thing I always remembered about the previous G-series notebooks was their rock-solid, bombproof build quality and feel.
However, my biggest complaints have to do with the matte screen and the whole keyboard and surrounding area. The matte screen, as many here have mentioned, is very grainy-looking. Subjectively speaking, brightness and contrast were quite poor. Colors were pretty dull and muted and overall it was just a "meh" kind of display. Definitely not a screen worthy of a notebook of this caliber and price.
The keyboard had a surprising amount of flex, which I was not expecting at all, especially after having tried the extremely solid keyboards on the G74 and G75. There is definitely some sort of gap between the keyboard and the metal backplate underneath (if there is one), which explains why the keys bounce up-and-down slightly even under normal typing pressure. This is something I haven't seen since my G73JH and which was remedied completely in the G74 and G75, so it's sad to see it return. Also, I did not love the keyboard, bezel, and palmrest being a single sheet of brushed aluminum, if that is indeed what it is made of, because finish aside it felt cheap and the keyboard flex didn't help matters either. I actually liked the two-tone black and silver design and rubberized palmrest of the G75 the best, and it had the most solid-feeling keyboard I've used on a Windows laptop.
So there it is, putting my flamesuit on now. Come at me, irate G750 owners. -
Thanks for your view octiceps, could not resist a reply ;-)
As I G750 owner I have to agree that nothing is perfect but I don't think there anything better on the market today for this price/performance.
I prefer to upgrade/buy a new model every 3 years than buy an expensive unit that I need to keep much longer for the same budget.
I think the opposite for most other stuff btw, cheap is usualy expensive in the long run.
As I see it the most expensive Alienware 18 SLI you can buy now will most likely loose against a similar Asus in 3 years time.
Technology advances so quickly that this seems the thing to do.
After reading more complaints about the standard matte screen I'm happy I got the glossy 120hz screen but sometimes reflections can be annoying.
Can anyone recommend a good matte screen protector that is easy to apply, avoiding bubbles etc ? -
Is the keyboard that bad? Lisa gade said it was good in her review, as did others. I hope they typing experience will be good, 5 more days of waiting till it arrives, arghhhhh

As for the single metal panel around it...this is subjective, but it was one of the major selling points for me. It gives the laptop a really spacious and clean feeling working area with no visual distractions (I'm looking at you, MSI). It's like the keys rise up from a big metal slab and I love that design idea. Yes, it requires massive rubber pads on the bezel to keep the screen from touching them but eh, it is an inevitable consequence. I lost count of macbooks that have massive keyboard-shaped smudges on the screen when they are opened. -
-
Since we are not going to see high-grade plastics in laptops without substantial price hikes, it would be great if ASUS starts using metal frames. It would make the ROG laptops much more solid.
Also, I think that Dell dropped the same Chi Mei panel from its business line because of the grain...
