If I purchase the 750jh from Amazon, will it come with the Assasins Creed offer?

If I did not intend to change any components, the JH noses ahead of the Alienware 17 IMO.

Well, in the end, I ended up with an alienware 18. Got a deal I couldn't refuse on it. I am getting a 18 with i7 4800mq, 16gb ddr, dual 780m sli, 256ssd 750hdd, windows 7 ultimate and 2 yrs warranty with 2yrs accidental protection for $3500 out the door through dell.

Well that is quite a bit more than the Asus lol, enjoy it, it's just a shame about the throttle imposed by the current bios on the 18 stopping it from clocking very well.

I got my G750JH-DB72 in Canada with an i7 4700, 16GB DDR, 780M, 256SSD/750 7200rpm, Windows 8, and the standard Asus warranty, which I think is cut back to 1yr now instead of 2. This cost $2500 and change with taxes/shipping.

If you got the A18 for $3500 out the door, that's not bad. If you add on tax, then that's a little extreme. However, it's about a $1000 difference for an extra 780M, the i7 4800, and the extra 1yr warranty. I'm pretty sure Alienware's displays are of better quality too if you got the Truelife display.

I'm liking my G750JH so far. Huge perf increase for me over my old G73JH.

long time lurker here. lots of owners and some smarts techs in this thread. i need some quick help from you guys.

my JH came in recently and im concerned about the fan behavior. does the JH have a more aggressive fan curve then the other models? my left fan (cpu fan i assume) seems to constantly ramp up for about 5 seconds then cuts out (hits about 2300rpm according to aida64). seems to kick in at 45c and turn off at 40. idle temp is about 41-42c. i work in a quiet environment so i notice these things. even opening steam or chrome produce enough heat to get the fans running on this thing (a quick spike to 45 and fans thinks they need to be on).

the jx i had prior to this never seemed to use its fans unless i was gaming. just want to make sure this is normal for the higher end model.

    Thanks guys!

According to latest reviews on notebookcheck the JH is even quieter than its slower siblings. Fans starting from time to time when doing office work is normal, but they should not be loud. The JH is most silent gaming nb currently available.

    Hi jsaver,

I'm not a techy but an early owner of the JH and I never noticed anything strange about the fans that ramp up that fast. I use steam for Civ 5.
My JH is even quiter than my desktop, I love it. I sometimes hold my hand at the back to check if the hot air is still blowing ;-)
The fan speed might be going up and down but not that I ever noticed. During heavy gaming the fans are audible (a bit) but the sound increases very gradually.
The exaust of the gtx780m (right when looked from the front of the laptop) always seemed hotter than the cpu but that seems logical since it uses more power.

Fly can you do my a favor? Listen closely to your left vent ( left when looking at screen) open up steam Or task manager using control alt delete and let me know if u hear that fan kick in for about 5-6 seconds. Just those simple tasks give me fan noise.

I do agree the jh is amazing and quiet. I could even deal with the fan noise if it wasn't so ever changing. Thanks for your help. Trying to figure out if this is something abnormal and a reason to return.

It would even be more helpful of someone could verify the fan kick in temps on the jh. Again mine seems to be 45 with shut off at 40. I idle at 41-42 in ambient of 21

Yes since there is no optimus and it has to keep 4GB of GDDR5 active in all cases apart from running a CPU only app it will use more power.

    Hey jsarver,

I was actually discussing this on a thread with you on the ROG forums as well. To everyone else, the problem doesn't lie with the fan being noisy. The fan is actually really quiet, but the issue is that the fan goes from a dead silent OFF to a 2300rpm smooth spin up like twice a minute while doing small things on the desktop environment. If you are situated in a dead silent room, you will hear what I'm talking about when the room suddenly gets more quiet, because the fan turns off. Then you can blatantly hear the fan spin back up moments later, and then repeatedly turning on and off. This is due to the idle temp of the CPU hovering over the resting point of the fan curve, causing it to spin up and down constantly.

You will never notice this while gaming because the fan will constantly be on (as well as the GPU fan as well in this case), so there's no huge difference in sound and the quiet swooshing of the fan(s) is not bothersome.

I can confirm this behavior. I have my G750 in a dead silent room, when the notebooks goes from fans completely inactive to active in office applications the difference is more noticeable, then the slightly higher fan speeds during heavy gaming. I also confirm that in office mode the fan going on/off is happening frequently.

Now I'm an owner of a G750JH too! I can say that I am satisfied with it. It is really powerful and yet not loud. One thing that worries me a little is the display though. I have an AUO 219D. There is a noticeable "grid" look on it, somehow making pictures that are not of high quality or that do not have high resolutions, that is the majority of pictures one sees when surfing the web, more "blurry". Those pictures seem to look less nice than they actually do. Also, fine "vertical lines" seem to span the whole screen. You don't notice anything of it when playing games. So can those who also have the AUO 219D confirm this behaviour? I think I can get used to it but I want to know if my display is in fact a faulty one.

Hey wynyard, if you have gone to the Asus Download page for your G750JH and tried the latest Splendid update, and that didn't help, I would suggest uninstalling Splendid completely, and reboot. Then set your display refresh to 100hz (some have said 85hz is enough) by setting a custom resolution in the Nvidia Control Panel

It looks like a very small fragment of thread or cardboard fragment. Probably got caught between the layers of the screen. Did you try tapping around it to get it to move? Or is it fixed in that spot and not moving?

Thanks for your suggestions! I uninstalled Splendid, then installed the latest version. In both cases nothing seems to have changed. Now I have removed Splendid from the system again. As for the the custom resolution approach, I'm hesitating to do it because I'm not sure whether this could have damaging effects on the display... Actually, it has become less of an issue now, it just seems to be something you have to get used to...

Here is a very positive review of my laptop of my store.
It's the GTX780m version with the glossy 120hz 3d screen.
I agree its the best price/perfo available & I'm very happy with it.
In Dutch, but the benchmarks etc might still be interesting for non dutch speakers.
(the fan issue seems to be replied so I will not waste more time on it, sorry could not reply earlier)

    Congrats!

Is it possible for you to try ARMA 3 the military simulation game on max graphic settings? Just want to check the noise level and heat because this is a really CPU intensive sandbox, and I am eying the G750JH just to play this one....without all the fan noise.

Any owners of the game and the laptop, please do share your experience.

No No my friend. This game is like no other. It is a beast. FPS dips below 20 even on a desktop with 780GTX SLI and Intel QX Quadcore cpu. Avg FPS on that machine is around 48 though.

Would really like to see the impressions of Asus G750JH owners with this ARMA 3.

Before we get too far along with the 780m version can someone clarify WIFI on the 770m version?

I need to buy a new router and was looking at the NETGEAR AC1750 or the ASUS RT-AC66U, both support 802.11ac. When I bought my G750JX-DB71 I thought it supported 802.11ac also. But looking again at the product page @ Amazon ( Amazon.com: ASUS G750JX-DB71 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black): Computers & Accessories) looks like it only supports 802.11bgn. Worse yet the Product Description at the bottom of the page reads, "With 802.11ac new generation wireless..."

    I'm all confused. Help!

Many have been happy with removing Splendid alone. Increasing the refresh rate on the LCD isn't a problem, I confirmed this with an Asus Technical Inquiry - as long as the image is stable you are fine. Some have said 85hz was enough, some say 66hz is enough to fix the Display issues. I didn't have any display issues after removing Splendid - but increasing the refresh to 100hz made the display smoother to my eye. I also tried 120hz/110hz/105hz, but they weren't stable - 100hz is stable. :)

Different model have different WIFI Cards as you are seeing some have AC and Some only have N. Pay close attention to the spec for the actual NB your going to purchase. Of course the custom Vendors will put in what you want.

Since they don't retail a 3D ready model then you won't be able to put one in. No problem though just plug your HDMI or mini Display port into your 3D external monitor!

the JX model has the AC wireless card
the JH model has killer wireless 1202

Is the killer wireless better than the AC wireless because it is on a higher model ?

Or a better question is what wireless card is better assuming I dont have a AC router
