Well AC is the latest and fastest wireless protocol.
that said any of the N wireless cards are far faster than our internet connections
So unless you going to spring for a new Router the killer wireless is great. also you'll be getting a 780 video card over a 770 very big deal you will notice the difference rather than a wireless that is faster than your internet connection?

The ac and killer card should perform pretty similarly on a non ac router with the killer having an edge on latency.

As said, it's not much of an issue now.

I like 90hz as a 1.5x 60hz it tends to avoid issues.

Can an owner of an asus g750jh please tell me if the notebook has dolby live 5.1 output under spdif in audio settings in windows ?
-
I was gonna get this laptop since I love Asus and their products. Had to go with Clevo P150sm, better value with same specs.
-
Noise and cooling are not the same between the two. Big difference.
Except Clevo is easier to disassemble and clean up. -
-
Keep your clevo elevated over the surface when in use, try to invest in a laptop cooler that raises it up and blows cool air at it, if not, just put a book or something under its edge to keep it raised, and most importantly keep the vents unblocked so the air can flow in and out easily.
Have fun. -

For those not looking to upgrade the internals the asus is hard to beat on cooling and noise.
Bottlecaps work too ^-^.ronferri likes this. -
Received my ASUS G750JH from XoticPC. Sadly it was rife with problems such as the horizontal line flicking, the hissing when earphones are plugged in and the laptop actually makes some kind of clicking noise that sounds like theres some internal problems with the harddisk. Scheduled for a RMA and hopefully these issues get solved cause besides those problems, the laptop runs fast like a beast.

HDDs will click when waking up (as the system starts or after accessed after a long time of idle) and when going to sleep.
If it's clicking loudly during access then yeah that's a bad sign. -

I am surprised too I assumed that all problems would have been tested before it would be shipped out. Not to mention I have to pay $100 for shipping thanks to insuring the product for the RMA process. I'll only do this ONCE and if it comes back from RMA and there are still problems I will be pretty upset. -
-
No, they're all like that. Sadly though, the majority of people have such crap eyes that they can't see it. But for you and I, my friend, it's the worst.

The screen is an issue that can be sorted by the user or bought as an upgrade when ordering.

I meant those people who are saying the stock display has a poor pixel pitch.

hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a G750JH-CV067H notebook.
I will switch from alienware m17x r4 (gtx 680m, i7 3630qm, samsung 256gb ssd). I hear you guys complain a lot. Most of them about the screen. I couldn't follow, what is wrong with the screen? The screen of the model that I will get has a full hd and 3d screen.
Some people say its sound quality is bad. Is it true?
Also, are there any other issues with the laptop? -
some people complain about the matte screen being too grainy. 3d models all come with a glossy screen so that's not going to be a problem.
-
Check out this ROG forum G750 Series Notebooks The few problems that do show up are discussed and solved here. -
Hello everyone.
Anyone know a shop in the EU where to get a G750JH 3d model (for the 120hz screen) with a Scandinavian keyboard layout? I suppose I would get by with a normal QWERTY keyboard as well.
Been waiting to get my hands on one for a long time and now I'm starting to be in a hurry so all help would be much appreciated! -
-
The horizontal lines problem went away (I have unistalled all ASUS bloatware and have some newer drivers from laptopvideo2go), and were barely noticable and only visible in particular situations (with greyish colours in Skyrim and the Steam overlay). They are software related.
As for the headphones hissing it seems to depend on the headphones. My don't hiss at all, and I even run the sound through my 150 watt guitar amp and the level of hiss is minimal. If you have hissing, try some other headphones. -
Guys, does anyone of you have the G750JX (770M) and plays BF4? I'm interested to know whats the performance like in full hd, high settings (v sync on), in multiplayer, when 64 players are on the map. Is this notebook enough for the job or do I have to buy the JH? (I rather not, due to its bulk size) Thanks.

With vsync at high you will likely keep to 30fps.

Has any US-based G750JH-DB71 owner or reseller actually swapped out the stock raided dual 128GB mSATA drives with a standard 2.5" drive? If so, did you have to obtain another drive bracket for the bay? The mSATA board didn't appear to be housed within a bracket on the GenTechPC video I saw. I already have a 480GB SSD I'd much rather use as a boot drive should I buy a DB71 to replace my G73JW, as well as plans for a faster data drive. I, like others, much prefer the Canadian DB72 configuration without the proprietary mSATA setup. I noticed that none of the customizing vendors offer replacing the mSATAs as an option. Although I'm sure Asus sees the setup as a main feature, I wish they'd release another US sku without it. Much as I really like the G750JH cooling system and can grab one for a few hundred dollars off right now, I might have to end up opting for a cheaper, more configurable Sager NP9380-S config. I'd miss the nicer chassis, less cramped keyboard, and quieter fans, for certain, but there's no way would I spend a full $2500 on a DB71 as configured now.

Can please someone with an Asus G750JH with a 3D screen tell us where you bought it from in Europe!! I've been searching for 2 months for a shop.
-
I still dont understand why they killed optimus if there is no 3D screen with the laptop, it's very annoying even if they put 8 cells battery trying to make the effects lower but still..
-
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Asus have avoided optimus on all their high end machines and it means they don't need a new motherboard for each model.
-
Ive got my G750JH back from XOTICPc and there are still the horizontal lines and the hissing sound. May I know what drivers did you use and what steps did you take? I am currently on windows 8.1 and dont know if the windows 8 drivers can be used.
-
I'm as well curious whats the fix for the hiss in the headphones output. I'm using a Sennheiser PLX-100 and while on my old G53JW had no problems and no background noise, on this "integrated amplifier" bull there is a substantial amount of hiss whenever sounds are played. If the sound card doesn't play anything for a while, the hiss stops just as the sound card is temporarily shut down. When in a movie or a game, it doesn't bother me, but browsing and doing office stuff, its annoying.

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have you tried testing different brightness levels? On my MSI if I'm on battery and turn the brightness down I get some headphone hiss, but if I max the brightness it goes away.
-
I haven't. Will do and report back, thanks.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Did you get a chance to try?
-
No effect what so ever
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Do you notice a difference on battery or with the AC in?
-
So from what I gather, If I want to upgrade hdd's to a 500gb ssd + 1tb storage hdd, it will be a whole heck of a lot cheaper to go for rb71 than the db71 even with adding ram to make it same 16gb, the savings nearly 300$..Unless their is some other big difference that I just cant see

It may be a double hit if the 500GB drive uses two platters due to a drop in density and RPM will really hurt seek times.

Should I wait for a new ASUS GXXX model to release, if there is going to be a release within the next 6 months or so?
-
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
A refresh would only come with a new cpu (some ways off) or a new gpu launch and they would likely be tempted just to re-use the current mouldings since the CPU and chipset will be the same.
-
Just get the G750 now, there's some wait till Broadwell hits the shelves (late 2014).
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It will be some time into next year for the GPUs too.
-
Can we expect a drop in the prices after christmas (late january 2014) ? the G750JX is too expensive for me with it current price
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I doubt it, the price is very deliberate.
