Weird, but JH-DB71 seems to have DYNAUDIO on board were JX does not.....oh, and I seriously don't want 24GB of RAM and 2 mSATA SSD's in RAID 0!!!!! What most of us need here is : GTX 780M, 16GB RAM, one HD bay with regular 7.200 or 5.400 RPM HD, and the other one is free. All that in a $2.000 price range and you'll have a winner. Please resellers , figure it out! Thanks

    Agree. :)

Asus never enabled Optimus for their G series in the past. the mainboard was reserved for 3D model I guess.

It was typo in our configurator sorry and it was corrected.

the 24GB RAM and 2 mSATA setup was shipped from Asus as a complete package, what we do is custom built from the factory package.

So in plain English, does that means - there won't be a lower price option for the JH??????

There is only one SKU for G750JH with GTX780M as far as I know of, so yes there won't be a lower price SKU for JH.

I believe another reason is to head off the inevitable support requests when ludites try to run the latest games and are not using the powerful GPU. I just hope they learned from the G73 Debacle and do a bit of testing with the 750 before it is released. And lets pray a VBIOS update is not needed to run Video drivers going forward. Personally I would never buy another ASUS. I have done considerable research and Clevo/Sager will be my next choice.
PS . Can anyone find a notebook section here? ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- :p
IF not for this forum and the outstanding help generously provided by members and retailers such as Ken Lee, Meaker, Pro Star, et al. I would have sold my G73 long ago.

Great video! Okay, I'm now even more hyped about this laptop! Btw, can the republic of gamers logo on the back of the lid be dimmed or turned off (is it maybe connected to keyboard brightness)? Not a big issue, I'm just wondering. And what's with the exclusive headphone amp? That sounds good for gaming with a headset, but there is still no info on the audio out there. Well, Optimus would be a bonus for me, but I'm mostly using it while plugged in, so I'll manage to do without it, althought it would come in handy on occasion.

Well I guess I just have to wait and see how much more expensive the JH SKU will be in Europe, cause I can stretch to about 2100 euros. I would have installed two 128GB SSDs anyway as soon as I could (even though I would probably be able to do it a bit cheaper myself), and I don't want a 3D screen, there's just a little bit too much RAM in the build, but I can live with that. I just really want that 780m. So now I wait.

Are we sure that there won't be a way to bypass the Asus setting and enable Optimus ourselves? Or is it something at a level too deep for that?

GentechPC, do you know when you will be receiving your models? All xoticpc could tell me was that they'd get theirs within the next few weeks.

I think it's better that they don't have Optimus, as I don't have any problems that the wrong gpu is being used. Be realistic....who plays on battery or wishes to carry such a big Laptop all day around anyway? Personally for me everything above 1 hour is fine and it's the last thing that is important to me.

I'm just waiting for the exact price details (configurations) and reviews, but very probably I'm gonna upgrade from my G75 (670M) to the G750 (780M).

    So basically:
"Asus JH for the really hardcore gamers. 8GB and HDD with GTX 780M. Thats pathetic. Lets go allin with all the components and pack in as much power as possible"
    :p

Unless you`re seriously skilled programmer and have a keen eye on soldering really small parts of the motherboard, its a dead end:

Optimus systems have the display connected to the IGP (CPU). When gaming the discrete GPU does all the hard work, it sends the signal to the IGP which send it to the display. When not gaming, the discrete GPU is shut down, but the IGP can still output stuff to the display.

Non Optimus systems have the display connected to the discrete GPU. It doesn`t go through the CPU. Since Optimus is about letting the IGP take over when not gaming, the IGP cannot display anything to the display because the two is not connected

    ;)

My HP ENVY 17 3D allows me to decide at any time which GPU I use - it has a program that I open and it allows me to select "High Performance GPU" or "Power Saving GPU" - from my understanding, I can't even do that with the G750?

One thing - the only thing actually - that comes to mind is the headphone/subwoofer issues following the G75's initial release. That issue has been since hammered out though. I don't really see what could go wrong with this release.

That is Optimus. And it allows you to do that because the CPU is wired to the display.
G750 does not have this option. You could however choose power saving mode, and the GTX 780M will downclock pretty far down to output as little heat as possible and save power. But not as far as Optimus which shuts the GPU down

Found this SKU on an Italian Asus store: G750JX-CV038H

    Only has 780M, 16GB RAM, and a 750GB 7200rpm HDD for 1.799,00€.

I'm really hoping this one like this makes it to the US as well!

JX have GTX 770M. Only JH have GTX 780M. Atleast thats what I`ve heard.

And it says the GPU only has 3GB of memory. Too bad, because I would have ordered it in a heartbeat otherwise. It's right next to my country (Slovenia) and offers extended warranty for a low price.

Hi, I just joined the forum because I'm interested in the highest end version of the G750JH. I have seen a SKU floating around only on Russian sites with 32GB of ram and the 3d 120hz display, so I'm wondering if any one knows anything else about this?

Also, in the promo video the G750 has four vents and 3d emitter. (Is this the crazy JH version?)

As another side note XoticPC lists the G750 with 3.5 hour battery life, if this is true that is awesome! :)

3GB is for the 770M and considering 2GB is enough for the desktop 770 then it will be fine.

I just meant that the 780m has 4GB, so that confirms the GPU typo. 4GB is overkill IMO.

To answer my own question: Yes, the Core i7-4700HQ is socket BGA1364. ARK | Intel® Core

Do the G750s' have the Core i7-4700HQ or the Core i7-4700MQ processors because the HQ processors will be a ball grid array permanent mount?

Thing is, this is an Intel/AMD system I have here. So I guess it's AMD's version of Optimus..

Oh well, seems to be the only bad point of an otherwise great laptop.

in order to enable Optimus the HDMI port has to be hard-wired to the Intel HD Graphics, it's not as simple as a BIOS update, it's hardware level.

we are shipping G750JW-DB71 now and Asus USA haven't receive G750JX and G750JH shipment from their oevrseas facility yet, According to Asus the JH may be sometimes between mid July or end of July if production went smoothly.

For G750JX should be arrive around mid June.

It should still be enough for 3 hours battery life, so I'm fine - I'd never need power for longer than that really, as I'm almost always near an outlet whenever I use my machine. About the units, that's a shame - I'm looking to buy the JH, but I guess waiting isn't bad either, it gives me time to decide and find the best place to buy from, as well as what to buy in the first place.

I'm most likely going to order from NCIX Canada, as I should save quite a bit on shipping just by having it sent to my local store, as well as not having to be imported from the states in the first place.

I don't know what to do now.. Wlling to pay $1.400-1.500 for 770M or $2.000-2.100 for 780M, but there is no such option with Asus. And since I'm scared of Sager's bulky Army style and just hate MSI's cheap plastic look, the only solution for me at the moment is to wait for BestBuy SKU's and hope for the best.

Hahaha, just calculated an estimation of how much the 780m model will cost in the EU based on the 770m model price from Italy (1800 euros). It will be about 3100 dollars. I hate the EU :D

Cheesy as hell, but it gets the point across :) I'm waiting for some professional reviews before I place my order and then I'm ready to go! :) This is too much money to throw at something without making sure it works as it should, even though I'm confident that ASUS won't mess this up. Oh, do we have any info on the MXM board? Is it standard?
