    In italiano :p
    ASUS G751 ROG notebook da gioco (ITA) - YouTube

    It looks like they have redesigned the cooling!:thumbsup: (not that the previous is bad! but newer can't be worse, i hope) Semes to be a bit wider (lowing this design) Can't wait for a teardown video, and i hope it is "as" easy as the g750 or better :D

    Really want to se the full spesification of the g751 and how much "thiner" it is, by the looks of it and the heatsink maybe 0.5-1cm?

    Hope Asus release other models with less ssd/hdd/memory capacity, then the price should be not that high

    Having larger cooling on the x7x variant could make it a very nice over clocker.

    Could someone give me a quick rundown on what models and configurations we're expecting for the G751 and G771 series notebooks?

    I'm on the fence between getting the Asus ROG G751 (Gaming/Stronger) or the Asus ROG G771 (Multimedia/Sleeker) as my next big notebook purchase. You can seem my requirements here.

    I need something with some graphics power for emulation and games like Battlefront 3, Mirrors Edge 2, and more, but I do like the sleeker design of the G771 a bit more than the design of the G751 - though I do like both, and even prefer the hdmi and power jack placement on the G751.

    What American/Canadian prices are we looking at for each? Any recommendations?

    That's true for pretty much all machines sadly. There is no import duty on notebooks though, it's just delivery and VAT.

    It seems that there are two variants of the case for the new ASUS G751 series - I'll refer to them as the "Slim" (sub 980M) & "Gaming" (980M) Variants. The main external differences between them are the general shape/slanting, as well as the space dedicated to the fans to accommodate the larger (or smaller) GPU cooling needs.

    For the "Slim" variant, the vents and general form factor will likely look like this:
    View attachment 116114

    Whereas for the 980M bearing "Gaming" variant, the vents and general form factor will likely look like this:
    ASUS-ROG-G751-GAMING.jpg

    I'll likely go for the best "Slim" variant option, but if the "Gaming" variant is within my range, I may be tempted.

    There's also the possible explanation that the "Gaming" variant images above are actually images of a unannounced 15.6" version, but that can't be proven or disproven at this time. Hopefully we learn more about these as soon as possible.

    By the size of the USB ports i can say that the photos are in the same scale and that the slim and gaming variants have the same size

    The "Slim" variant images are 99% the size of the "Gaming" variant images in terms of scale. I wasn't 100% precise with re-sizing the "Gaming" variant images, but it's close enough and I'm too lazy to redo them.

    Unfortunately, you are wrong. The "Gaming" variant clearly has third and fourth air intake vents on the rear, and has a great deal more thickness along the bottom of the machine to accommodate the required increase in airflow.

    This goes along with what I stated before, the G751 will likely have a larger air intake for the 980M version only, whereas the others will enjoy a slightly more portable size and weight.

    Yeah, that's also what I'm saying. The screen size is the same, it's just the venting that changes. All of the G751's are 17".

    ok.. Just listen to what he says. Preview: Can be upgraded to 880m, using 17" panel, etc. (Is the "Slim" model)

    I am hoping they are all in that formfactor, the bigger one is very nasty i think..

    But, fatty version could be a new sli model?

    Now i'm worried that they have moved on to soldered gpu's :confused:

    Hmm.. You may be onto something - from what I've heard, the 980M will be even cooler than past nvidia GPUs, so maybe they wont need to increase the thickness to cool it. Plus, releasing an SLI version with dual vents would be a smart move for them in order to capture the high end market.

    Maybe, but it still has an oven beside it, aka Intel Haswell..

    Reason it may be soldered gpu's i think is there was no one selling Asus mxm g750 cards (nobody upgraded their g750 graphic cards) they want to make thinner laptops (people want and buys thinner laptops)

    Dont know if there was any soldered 880M's, but i think 980m will be, saves the cost slapping it straight on the mobo, and making it slimmer, and being sure people have to buy new laptops, No Upgrades..:thumbsup: (ah thats why pc games are not optimized!!!! :D)

    MSi's High end model gt72 now has soldered cpu.. If the g750 had soldered Cpu, i think the next step is soldered Gpu, Maxwell uses less watt,and is cooler, semes possible..(Lets just hope they are going to put in standard mxm cards in the g751

    Zoom the picture of the g751 untill you can fit a usb in the port. I messure little over 4+cm at thickest, AND the screen itself is almost 2cm... That leaves the base at 2.8+cm (pictures page 6) g750 was 5cm thick.

    Asus have quite good build quality, i just dont think there is a mxm card in there.. But i really hope it is! If not they should shave those prices!

    The rear vent and the thickness of the back looks different to me, no point in adding extra vents if you keep the heatsink the same.

    Yeah, they probably use the increased space on the Gaming variant for more cooling measures, such as air flow, heat sinks and such.

    I seem to have found a listing of all the different models of the G751 and their configurations! ( Here's the link. ) I'm unsure if it's NA only, EU only, or if it's worldwide, but this should give us a hint at what is going to be unveiled. I will post the model specs, title, and shape image together, so we can get a better idea of which are "Slim" and which are "Gaming" variants.

    All models are releasing October 2014.

    I'm looking forward to see that IPS display in gaming!! Some Great gaming ips displays have been made now e.g. Eizo..
    All the buzz asus have got about their displays i hope they will rock these! If mediocre i think i could still live with the ips for everyday usage.

    Have got confirmation from one of the biggest computer shops in Norway that the launch of G751 is october 7. But they will probably start selling a couple weeks later. So late october we will probably be able to buy it.

    Yeah, depending on the US price, I'm looking at getting either the ASUS ROG G751JY-T7004H (JY Low End), or the ASUS ROG G751JT-T7033H (JT Series).

    I know that the € prices are usually a bit off considering the exchange rate, so I'm hoping the US prices wont be too bad. Either way, the T7054H is way out of my price range. :rolleyes:

    Prices are usually higher in the EU due to tax and a bit extra on top. How much depends on which country.

    Hi everyone, this is my first post. I'm an Alienware M14X owner. I was thinking of buying Asus G750JM but then this G751 series came out. Before this I've never thought of getting an Asus but after having my first Alienware (also my last), I decided to go for it simply because of the superior cooling system (claimed by many ROG users). I have some questions regarding the new G751 and I hope somebody could enlighten me.

    1. Is the GPU upgradable? As I know, i7-HQ CPU is soldered so it cant be upgraded.
    2. Cleaning the fan is easy?
    3. Some people are saying that G750's screen is not that good. How about the new IPS display in G751?

    Thank you.

    laptop IPS display tend to be good, less input lag (problem is usually desktop monitors) go for IPS/PLS on laptop to get the best! (but remains to be seen we don't know what ips display it is, but from videoes it looks good)

    The g751 have a new design/build so cleaning etc that also remains to be seen.. :rolleyes: cant wait for a teardown video! :D

    If gpu is on a MXM card in theory yes, but on the 750 asus used different mxm card nobody was selling, Would not suprise me if the Slim g751 use a soldered gpu.. But i hope it is mxm and that someone will sell new cards to it..

    Videoes is a few pages back, use an ips display to watch lol, if u use a tn it will look like your tn...

    Seeing as you likely have more experience with laptop prices - how much would you ballpark the US price of a ASUS ROG G751JY-T7004H (Price: 1799,00 € ;) to be? $1599? Higher? Lower?

    The site I got the full info from on the last page dates them as an October 20th release, so 3 weeks from now.

    That page seems very confused - it says it's a 741, which we would assume to be 14", but it still states it's part of the 751's 17.3" family?

    It seems to have no SSD, 8GB Ram, 1TB storage, and an 860M, so is it just the lowest out of all of them? So low they'd give it a lower number?

    Also, the image is wrong, assuming it's using the G751 design instead of the 551 and 771 designs.

    Its probably because nvidia are yet to announce a second gen maxwell 860M (960M) so they dropped a number until it's released.

    Ok maybe a mistake then. However, I think my theory was sound.

    If Asus were going to hold out a place for a Maxwell GTX960m, I think they would give it another character bump.

    Frame numbers are usually the same, but the letter after the J gets assigned based on GPU within a range of GPU's

    So far we have a G751 JM/JT/JY, 870m => 970m is S to T, so I am gonna guess it will be a G751JN.

    W = 765m
    X = 770m
    H = 780m
    M = 860m same for G750/G751
    N = 960m ??
    S = 870m
    T = 970m
    Y = 980m

    What I wonder is if Asus will offer the G751 with an Optimus disable in the BIOS, or some other clever method to get wired directly to the Nvidia GPU instead of the Intel GPU. If the G751 has that I think it will be a winner.

    Knowing the EU price of the ASUS ROG G751JY-T7004H (Price: 1799,00 € ;) - what would you all estimate the US price to be? I kow it will likely be cheaper because of tax and stuff, but I don't know by how much, or if currency conversion will come into play.

    Does anyone have any guesses?

    According to this, it would be around $2280.00 USD which sounds about about right. The G750JZ-DS71 (previous generation with 880M) with similar specs is listed at $2,444.99 (Tigerdirect), $2,169.00 (Amazon), and $1,999.00 (newegg). I'm sure the prices vary at other various vendors.

    If they charge this for a model with the 980m I might consider getting it. I also hear the 970m outperforms the 880m, so I could end up going for that too and change the screen to a glossy screen since so many of the last screens (the default Matte ones) always have problems or are bad.
