I am wondering about this too. Doesn't kepler automatically OC to max
when the card is not running at max? I would assume nvidia has already
played with this and determined what a conservative max OC is.

So what do people hope to get above this.

Will the G75 be able to display 3d, given its screen. Apparently according to nvidia the screen needs to be able to refresh at 120hz, will this screen be able to?

Quick update: the G75 will be 3d enabled right out of the box, apparently the 3d screen will be standard.

My big question is, what graphics card will it have. I'm seeing reports of 660m and 670m from different sources. Maybe there is an option (there wasn't in the g74, so I don't know if there will be in this one)

i think you'd want the radeon 7970 or 7990 or gtx 680m or at least gtx 675m for 3d gaming. it will cut your fps in half to run games in 3d. so unless you want to play on medium settings at 720p or 900p then a 660m or 670m are kind of weak for 3d.

What?! Can you please confirm this? I never heard of such thing. I know that the chip doesnt use a lot of power during regular office work. It detects when you're playing game to give higher performance.

Also, someone stated 660M is 3D ready? Meaning I just need glasses? explain please, thank you

Keplar has a 'boost clock', all nvidia cards are '3d ready' but you need a 120hz display + the vision kit (comes with glasses)

i'm wondering about the new G75 or a custom built laptop based on MSI barebone... are the barebone builts any good, qualitywise?

I've looked at the site that was linked some pages back, the deviltech company located in Germany. I can get a MSI barebone with i7-3610QM, GTX675 and 8gb 1600mhz ram for just under 1300eu. That does not include a ssd, but it still seems like a good deal to me. Also i can upgrade later to a SSD if i want, right?

Kepler 660M is still not better than the 670M (non kepler) right? Still 15% outperformed?

Kepler 660M is still not better than the 670M (non kepler) right? Still 15% outperformed? Even with this kelper tech with "over-clocks" when you're running a game.

I'm guessing from this news, I will order from powernotebook with GTX 670M?
Powernotebook took their pre-order down because ASUS told them too (embargo problem I guess), but why does Amazon have them up? Interesting tech politics...

670M is about 11.345% quicker than 660M if you consider both the texture fill rate and memory bandwidth.

Huh 11.345% is not that much.... Hmm now I'm debating to stick with Amazon's G75 with 660M (try out this new kepler tech).

Bleh........ Sager(675M) vs G75(670M) VS G75(660m)...... all same price

Yup. 660M was all about efficency and cooling.

But you can say @#!$ this and OC it to 670M

Yup, but Sager's laptops are blowdryers compared to the Asus laptops.

Sure you can upgrade. But deviltech doesn't come with windows7, and it's plastic, still it's very powerfull by price you pay. Check fragbook Review Deviltech Fragbook Notebook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews
You can expect very similar system, with lover noise. And I don't like no lighted keybord.

I wonder if theres a tutorial for it.

I'd wait until a Kepler with the performance of the 675 comes out. The cooling for it will probably be quieter.

    Don't think that's the case.

    660m: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

    670m: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

It's looking like 670m > 570m > 660m. 660m will run cooler and more efficient though. Probably your safest bet if you're willing to sacrifice power for cooling and quietness. It will still out perform the 560m in your G74, but you might want to wait to see if the difference in performance is worth the price tag.

More like 670m == 570m > 660m. In theory the 660m has enough headroom to OC past the 670m, I'd imagine.

it should have more than enough headroom. ive heard that it runs almost 10 c cooler than the 670 when in 100 percent use. thats more than enough headroom

Can't comment on the 9170, but according to Notebookcheck, the 15,6 version (P150EM) is actually louder than the previous model, which is not exactly quiet itself.

If you OC GTX660M's Core clock to 920MHz(10% OC'd) and memory clock to 2250MHz (12.5% OC'd), it should be outputting the same performance as a GTX670M does at stock clock. This is only just the calculated result, can't say for sure until we see the real products, but gaining 15-20% OC on the GTX660M like the GTX460M/560M did may be possible before stepping into unstable clocks.

Well we're talking a 28nm keplar piece, it auto overclocks on its own, it may already oc close to 900mhz core, we don't know anything about it.

Those calculations were carried out using the official info posted on the NVIDIA site, the auto OC feature wasn't consider at this stage, if it does oc close to 900MHz then it's really close to a 670M.

Sure it will fit. Every 2.5 drive can. It's easy to do, just follow some youtube videos or search in google for step by step pictures. But if you buy ssd later, then you need to reinstall windows becouse, ofcourse you want windows to run and boot much faster on sdd.And when buying SSD be sure to always take sataIII, not sataII

Asus comes only with 670M, but personaly, I would wait for 670 review and then compare heat, noise and preformance with the 675M. Still I would like best preformance.

With the ASUS's great cooling, do you think you might be able to OC it to the performance of the 675m?

This could be bogus, but a small price drop and the release date moved to the 23rd?!

No, imo it's impossible. 570M was 35% slower than 580M. In laptop gpu you can't OC that much. 10-15%, but not more.

    Dekstop processor, not notebook.

I decided on ASUS G75 instead of Sager. Decided to play it safe.

As for gaming and little photshop... Whats better? stock, matte, or glossy?

I have a ASUS G74, and their stock screen is decent. Is there really a HUGE difference between stock and matte/glossy?

Theres no discussion page on this... sorry for posting here

Glossy screen is very bad for outdoor use or with any light source behind you, the reflection will become really annoying and you can't really see the screen, people would suggest going for matte if you have the option.
