I'm torn between the g75 and msi. One thing on all the Asus gaming laptops that throws me off is the keyboard I touch type and the chicklet keyboard looks weird to me, how is typing on it? Do you guys think the g74 will drop in price more?
-
the only thing that is bothering me, is that I've heard that the g series onboard speakers are very bad.
-
So what about FRYS.com|ASUS guys? Dependable site? I certainly want the 1600 Mhz RAMs and not the 1333 MHz ones.
-
you wont be able to tell the diff between 1333 and 1600...
-
It most likely a mistake on Frys end. You won't notice any difference anyway. I'm going with PowerNotebooks this time. Remember - NO TAX.
-
Does anyone know where I can buy a g75 with a 3d screen?
-
power notebooks has no tax ? they are located somewhere with no sales tax ? do they have free shipping and the 3 percent cash discount ?
-
Si senior! And no - 3D screens are not available yet...
-
Feel free to contact our sales department for details.
-
There is a 3D model. DH7?-3D
I've seen it in my Asus dealers preorders. -
hmm, I don't see the g75 on powernotebook's site?
-
sorry if has been answered before.
But where could i buy from a reseller from Canada for the G75 when it comes out ? -
Call us and we would be able to discuss that further with you.
-
OK, unless you have to have a new gaming laptop RIGHT NOW, do not buy until you can get some of this action:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
AMD Radeon HD 7970M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
Its already been announced for one laptop:
Alienware M18X R2 With Ivy Bridge Details Leaked | Geeky Gadgets
All you need to know is 36% performance increase over GTX580M -
And these cards are not likely to be available in the G75 or G55.
Furthermore, the 7970M and the 680M aren't likely to be released anytime soon.
Speculation that they won't be released until mid summer at the earliest. -
7970M might be a lot quicker on Texture fillrate than the GTX680M if GTX680M is 36% quicker than the GTX580M.
7970M has 70.4 GTexel/s (If the latest leaks are true.)
GTX580M has 39.7 GTexel/s.
GTX680M should be around 53.9 GTexel/s if it's 36% faster than the GTX580M. -
As the 680M will be the new high-end, it'll likely be considerably more expensive than the 675M, correct? Unless the 7970M is more reasonably priced, the 675M still seems a good deal as of right now.
-
Right now the 680M is a horrible deal because you can't buy it. But you can't buy the 675M either. The 680M will be out June/July. Obviously if you can't wait that long, you can't wait that long... But I want a Kepler card that's faster than the 660M so I'll be waiting.
-
I'll be buying from your site now. The fact that a sales rep is on this forum shows a dedication (or luck
) that deserves to be rewarded with customership.
Having said that, I am wondering too, why isn't the laptop on the Asus page? Do I have to call long distance from the Middle East to get that answered?
Also, it's not possible for the 675m to be installed on the g75 because it's soldered onto the MOBO and not MXM correct? -
Yep.
-
Not only will those cards be released in mid-summer (best estimate, since notebookcheck says they'll be ANNOUNCED formally in mid summer, much less released), they'll be at a price point very different from a stock g75. I don't think any brand with a 7970m/680m will go for less than ~2.2k USD, specially if the likes of AlienWare will be the first to release it.
I -and most of those on this thread I suspect- want something around the 1.5k price point. -
Any news about models G55/G75 equipped Thunderbolt?
-
I am interested how noisy g75 will be with gtx670m. When can we expect a review from notebookcheck.net or from dealers??
-
the video card is not solder on the mainboard, however, it doesn't mean it's upgradable because Asus's video card has it's own layout:

Will the 3d version be released at the end of april/early may? If not, does anyone know when it is expected to come out.
Also, does anyone have an idea of the FPS I can expect playing in 3d for diablo 3 and guildwars 2, and at what quality settings? -
Did they move the position of the mini PCI for wireless card? The GTX670M looks a lot wider than the GTX460M 192bit/560M 128 bit on G53SW/G53SX
Edit: After looking closely I could see the 2 screw holes for the wireless card. Guess the width of the card is either the same or a bit longer, an evil idea of swapping the G73 GTX460M with a G75 GTX670M opened up
-
Take a look at this !
Preview: ASUS G75VW - HardwareZone.com.ph
Variants with Thunderbolt and 3D screen confirmed, benchmarks soon. -
Good find man
-
The wireless card is on the other side of the mobo, you need to lift the top case to see it:

So what do we all have in terms of models? Can someone put up a list?
Thanks -
Beautiful, I'm interested in this model, I hope not to spend much money,
-
The new Asus laptops are not up on our page currently due to a brief NDA is about the best I can tell you.
It would be best to call about it to get any of your questions answered.
Concerning the 675M, it has more to do with the form factor of the GPU itself. To our knowledge, the card is not soldered to the board and it should be MXM, but Asus uses their own design for the GPU.
Essentially, the laptop manufacturers get the chipsets from nVidia or ATI and they make their graphics card PCB to their laptop using the chipset. That is my understanding of it. -
According to this, there is going to be a subwofer on the g75. That would be awesome!!!
-
Better design than the G73 I supposed, keeping the wireless card away from the GPU heatsink. Seems like the soundcard on the buttom left grew larger too compared to G73. By the way how did you remove the upper panel without removing the keyboard?
Did they change the design for the upper panel?
-
The keyboard is sealed with the top case, you need to remove all screws from the bottom of the laptop in order to lift the top case. -
any of you guys know if there will be a gtx 660m version with an ssd
-
you can buy a ssd and install it yourself for much less if they dont offer it
-
The whole transferring operating system process is very confusing
-
I don't see the whole big deal with the performance index of these, its all in preference, personally I think its like having the 560m's 1 from best buy is a 2gb and the normal is the 3gb. the normal is able to have higher clock speeds and the best buy is limited slightly. In all reality stock the 660 and the 670 will perform within about 5-10% of each other. Now if they release a new ivy extreme cpu, then you will see a lot bigger jump in performance other than that people saying the 660 and 670 getting only 25-30 fps in BF3, if that was completely true than the 560m shouldn't be pulling 50+ constantly with high-ultra everything and 16xAS 2xAA, So if your weary about this, do as much research as you can, i suggest taking a look over there at gentechpc (Not trying to promote) they usually have the best reviews on systems and will let you know what this system can handle and what its potential is. but personally should be a step up for asus with this cpu/gpu pairing.

I,ve transferred to a SSD many times and found it to be very simple, depending on which software you use. This software, that's comes with the Crucial SSD's is very simple and works fine.
EZ Upgrade Universal SATA Hard Drive Upgrade Kit -
What "transferring OS process"? Just stick it in the laptop and run a clean install. Copy paste your documents or ghost it. Who wants the same bugged registry on a new HDD (or SSD)?

Asus G55VW-DS71 i7 2GB NVIDIA GTX 660M 15.6" for $1,475.00
If this is legit, it's confirmed. The G55 has 2 hard drive bays
-
GenTechPC do you know if the 3d model will be released at the same time as the non 3d models?
-
hello everybody, anyone have news about G75 with AMD vga???
-
Yes 3D model will be available but only on 17.3".
-
Sorry. No AMD for this reincarnation.
-
Unfortunatly, that is very unlikely. AMD was seen on 73jh, since then asus sticks with nvidia, becouse it offers more models:660M, 670M, 675M, 680M. 560, 570,580 and etc. while amd offers very powerfull and expensive gpus6970, 6990, 7970. Asus will never put so much power. They stick with high models for good price and quality.
-
A little too late. Posted before. Still amazing design. Very looking forward to see benchmarks.
-
What are you talking about? AMD is ALWAYS cheaper! And honestly, seeing that 7970 coming in late May.... G75 for $1.500+ just doesn't make any sense IMHO
Asus ROG G55 & G75 in April with gtx 670m
