Well the capacity is no larger on than other batteries but the cells are spaced wider apart to let them be cooled more easily and cope with a faster discharge rate.

So in short you all says it's not posibile ok thank you all the same
! Anyway good joke about large battery

There are external batteries you can buy that can be plugged in via a PSU type brick and used as mains but as mentioned it is quite a hefty solution.

Is there someone with factory preinstalled G551JM, to help me identify the correct bluetooth drivers?
There are 3 different drivers available on the support site, Intel, Qualcomm and Ralink.
Windows has installed the Generic Bluetooth Adapter driver and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator.
If someone can help me by checking out which drivers are factory installed on this model, I'd appreciate saving me from identifying the correct driver by trial & error.
So, is it Intel, Qualcomm or Ralink? Or do I just leave the Windows 8.1 generic driver?
Thanks! -

What wireless card do you have? It will be a dual module.
-
i da li neko zna da li je maxwell ili kepler? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I think I can translate, the 860M is the maxwell version. Now please remember the forum rule I posted above, please give a translation of all posts below in english (google translate is fine if you are not a native speaker).
I'll have to report any further breaches which I really don't want to do. -
hello guys, can you help me with my proble/issue in asus rog g551, i have this issue when im using the battery, it suddenly restart, it stating driver power failure. and when i see in event viewer the problem is this kernel-power ID-41.
can you help me.
thanks in advance. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have you run a battery health program to look at the state of the battery?
-
Nope, how i can run it? Where i can find it? By the way it is brand new, newly purchased
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I had a look, it seems that is a fairly general error, try running on the max performance profile on battery, if it still happens then it's likely a battery issue. If it stops it could be a chip not clocking properly which would be a firmware error.
Either way you may want to contact your point of purchase. -
You think that bluetooth adapter is therefore Intel as well? Ok, thanks for the advice. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes the bluetooth is on that card, so be sure to install the intel bluetooth drivers too.

Does anyone know if the 965m or 970m will appear for the G551 ? Recently some N551 have been announced with the 960m in some configurations. Note that these are not the gaming series, so it would be kinda odd, if the actual *gaming* series had the same GPU.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Since the chips used are so different and the power consumption along with it I doubt smaller machines will see the 965M, it is a full footprint of the GM204 even if half of it is disabled.

Hi guys,
i already ordered an Asus ROG GL551JK-CN126H Laptop. (in Germany)
I tried to check all of the specs of the hardware but i have found pritty different informations.
My one is a 4GB GTX850 version. Is this a DDR3 or a GDDR5 card?
Some website write BR DVD multidrive, some just DVD super multi. (in the same price)
ok, optical drive is not so important but still.
I will receive the laptop just on the next week.
So i tot i read some test about the machine, but i was not able to find one, with exactly the same modell.
Thanks. -
-
G551 doesent comes with gtx850 ddr5 only ddr3,it is 100% checked
-
Good to know. It is a band news.

Hey guys,
I recently got my new G551, and I noticed something weird.
I have a 21.5" fullHD monitor, which lacks HDMI, but I do have a DVI-HDMI adapter, so I was able to use it as an external monitor.
When I copy the notebook screen to the external screen, everything is fine, everything is copied, pixel by pixel.
However when I'm using only the external monitor the monitor looks like it has a much bigger resolution. What is even more weird, it can only be seen with certain applications (like Chrome or Firefox).
When I take a screenshot with only the external monitor enabled, the picture size is 2400 x 1350, with a 1920 x 1080 box containing all of what I'm seeing on the screen, and the rest appears black. However on my monitor, there is no black box around the picture.
In the Intel Graphics Settings and in the Nvidia Control Panel, both screens are set to 1920 x 1080, I can't even set it higher. I tried disabling the Intel Drivers(a friend told me to try), but when I did, the HDMI port no longer worked.
My full specifications:
Notebook:
Asus G551JM-DM057D
Intel Core i7-4710HQ
Intel® HD Graphics 4600 + nVidia GeForce GTX860M 4GB
External screen:
ACER S221HQLDBD 21,5"
1920 x 1080@60HZ
VGA+DVI
I'm just curious, what can be the cause of such anomaly? I suspect the HDMI-DVI conversion, but I don't know much about that, so I'm not sure. I'll try to find a display with HDMI port, so I can try out that too. In the meantime: anyone has any idea about this? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Look at your scaling settings when just the external is plugged in.
-
People Is anybody try GTA 5 on this Laptop especially on model jm with i7 4710Q with Nvidia GTX 860m 4GB DDR5vram and 12GB ram memory? Can someone write your experience in gameplay and, how the G551 performance in game fps, temperatyre gpu/cpu, ....e.t.c?If posibile some screenshots in game about temp/fps/ram consumination...! Thankes in advice

I just bought an Asus ROG G551JM-CN120H, but the WiFi is extremely slow.
I tried downloading google chrome and that took over 5 mins.
Opening this forum page took me a few minutes aswell.
I downloaded the latest Atheros wifi driver from the asus support site. (Yes I got an Atheros wifi chip according to system management)
I was downloading the latest nVidia driver with Geforce Experience and my download speed was between 10-80 kpbs
What can I do to improve this? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have you tried moving closer to the access point, does this improve speed? Have you tried manually setting the IP address or channel of the connection? Have you tried switching between 2.4ghz and 5ghz (if your router supports it)?
-
Make sure that your wifi adapter is correctly identified.
Mine is Intel, in my G551JM.
I noticed that lately it takes its time to connect to wifi when waking up from sleep. At first it was only a few seconds, then it wouldn't connect at all, which was due to the option "allow windows to turn off this device to save power" being turned on, and I didn't do it so I wouldn't know how it got turned on.
Anyway, after turning it off, the laptop resumed autoreconnecting upon waking up, but it takes a few seconds more than I'd like and than it should, ideally. Checked for updated drivers on Asus support - no luck.
I'm surprised that this model had only one BIOS/UEFI update since the original version, and it dates back to last year. I would've thought that they would tweak the BIOS/UEFI some more, especially that Windows 10 is coming soon and their support page only lists Windows 8.1 x64 as supported OS with the appropriate drivers. -
I fixed my WiFi problem. Was something wrong with the Range extender, which i just restarted.
What drivers should I install/update?
https://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/G551JM/HelpDesk_Download/
I only downloaded the Atheros wifi driver. What would an BIOS update do? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
BIOS updates are to fix specific issues you are having really rather than an auto update due to the troubles they can cause.
Install all your system drivers and then any control applications. -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Driver update can also provide the same thing.
Generally, newer updates are better, however in some rare cases where they may not work possibly due to new bugs created. -
Changes in bios 204 from own experience:
GPU clock is more stable (pre 204 it sometimes dropped to 300MHz for few seconds under heavy load).
CPU is allowed to reach higher temps, giving better performance at the cost of overall higher temps.
Overall 204 gives better performance under heavy loads - but increases case temps and component temps. Still worth the upgrade in my opinion. -
***SOLVED***
Ok, I need some technical support.
I bought a Travelstar 7K1000 HDD to replace the Blu-Ray drive with.
I ordered a HDD-caddy for the G551JM and all is fine. However, when i installed the HDD and Caddy in my laptop, it is not showing up in explorer, disk manager and BIOS.
I removed the caddy and the hdd to check if the hdd was broken. I inserted the hdd in a external docking station and connected it via USB to my laptop.
The disk showed up, but was not unknown. I imported it, and then formatted it to NTFS.
I put it back in the caddy and inserted it in the laptop but the HDD is still not showing up.
How do i fix this? Seems like the Sata connection is not working?
***SOLVED***
As it turns out, I simply had not pushed the hdd far enough onto the sata connection in the caddyLast edited: Jun 15, 2015 -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes the caddys usually have the drive right in, some come with a spacer for the gap between the end of the drive and the bay wall to make it obvious and prevent the drive from coming out.

Hey,
Does g551jw come with msata/m.2 port?
i'm deciding between lenovo y50 i7, 960m (4gb vram), 256 ssd (no msata/m.2 port) for 755 usd vs g551jw i7, 960m 4gb vram, 750gb hdd for 895 usd.
I prefer combo msata/m.2 (for windows) + internal hdd (for storage), so if asus has msata/m.2 then i will take it, if not i will stick to y50 because it is cheaper, plus i already have external 2tb passport.
Thanks a bunch in advance -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The lower end one that ships without an ssd does not have an msata port where as the higher end model does.
-
does this model support m2 port?
