not so much. Repasting improve temperature thanks to better conductivity so components have lower temps because the heat go better to the heatsink and fans but the heat that you perceive is about the same. Repasting is good for thermal components so you shouldn't have basically no throttling at all, especially on cpu.

A laptop should never actually be used on the lap. it will not get the proper air flow.

I repasted my cpu and gpu … so the temperatures are good.
I dont know how to enable Silent Mode or manual Mode for Fans, I used XTU to undervolt my cpu and my Asus Gaming Center doesnt work anymore.

ah what a shame... the fan mode is commanded by rog gaming center... till now we have "auto" and "overboost" fan mode... on the new gl703gm-gs there's a new mode called "silent" that force pc to lower voltage for cpu gpu and lower rotations of fans... i hoped that with bios 311 we had this mode but i just can't find no one that have this info...

fps on games are the same as the 306 bios, better or worse?

You should not update BIOS to 311. It just contains the Spectre patch, hurts performance and has nothing new in features. I tried for a while then reverted back to 306 using EZ flash. Very simple.

Can someone provide me with feedback regarding Gl503GE? What is the battery life and is it better then GL503 with 7th+1060?

From my side of things, It is about the same in terms of battery life. I am not seeing any noticeable improvements in this area.

Hey guys, I recently bought GL503VS and I'm experiencing a short flicker on my screen when I connect and disconnect from a wifi network.
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar issue?

I discovered that connecting and disconnecting USB device causes this. (and in the wifi case, I had a USB modem connected to the device too)

I figured out that it's Windows' Calibration issue, every time a new device connects, it refreshes the devices and configurations and probably does some process and that causes the fast switch between the default display profile and the calibration profile. after disabling the calibration I can't see short flicker anymore

I have another question: Do you have any problems with the touchpad in GL503VS? Mine behaves laggy sometimes and I have to lift my finger from it and put my finger on it again in order to make it work

this is not an ASUS issue, it's a Windows 10 issue. Hopefully some new updates come out soon to fix it, it's been happening with all different kinds of laptops recently.

Sorry for the double post on this one, but thought I would mention that you can snag the ASUS GL503VM-IH73 w/ GTX 1060 from Newegg for 1,049 USD, or 999 USD with a promo code. Sale ends next Monday. Sadly, we don't have any in stock here at XPC with a 1060. We either have 1050Ti or 1070.

Screaming deal - just purchased one. I just couldn't pass it up!

Found an open box GL503VM from Best Buy for $630 plus tax (no power adapter)...It is in fair condition with some scratches on top (screen looks good) and the Best Buy sticker said it was returned due to overheating. I am real wary but had to give it a shot at that price. Waiting on power adapter...Found a genuine Asus one used on Ebay for $30...Should be interesting...

    Hi,

I bought the GL503GE and it had coil whine so I returned it and the replacement had also coil whine so I returned it again and the THIRD one also had so I decided to keep it and fix the coil whine with disabling the C1E via ThrottleStop.

Overall I'm satisfied with the performance of this notebook but there are still some issues that bug me so I wrote to Asus about it but as I'm probably the only one complaining there won't be any results so I'm sharing this with you, maybe we can together put some presure on Asus.

    here is what I sent:
also here is my thread from the ROG forums

How does the fans behave in idle and light usage like browsing and office? Do they spin up or is the notebook completely quiet?

They slightly spin, depending on your fan mode:
    - Silent (quiet or don't spin)
    - Balanced (light spin)
    - Overboost (they can go loud if you're working on a big file with multiple assets)

mine always spin, they never go under 1900 rpm which is a bit loud for me as my old gl552 had worse cooling and went completely silent while browsing, the gl503 goes silent only if you do nothing for 10 min and spin back up once you open any app

GUY's i found something astonishing for our gl703/503V series. We can upgrade keyboard firmware and now use new effects like on the new G series, such as music effect, rainbow, temperature and fine tuning aura settings (example, turn off sleep effect). Asus of course hide this on support pages of our laptop, so you have to download it on GM501 support site. You have to install all in this order:

    1 FW updater=
    https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...43.1823354327.1535737324-356665043.1518088038

2 component app for aura core (you have to use latest aura core from microsoft store)=
    https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...27.1823354327.1535737324-356665043.1518088038

    3 aura lighting service=
    https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...08.1823354327.1535737324-356665043.1518088038

4=after you have installed everything in this order just reboot your pc and then your aura app will have new modes

    EDIT
just to remember...i don't want any responsability if you have problems with it... just tried on mine and all worked perfectly

Anyone with the GL503VM-DB74 (Hero edition I believe) care to share the eSupport folder? I wiped mine without backing it up (didn't know you couldn't just download everything from ASUS). Turns out there are some items that you cannot download from the drivers page.

    Thanks

Thanks man, wish it was the GL503VM, but your eSupport is only for the GL503VMF (not the GL503VM, old one I guess?).

Try changing the power mode to "overboost" in gaming center. See if TDP increases to >45W.

nothing to share with keyboard... probably you have some mess with aure package, try to update with the latest aura core from gl703gm, and update the apps from microsoft store if you have the older one that comes with esupport folder

there's nothing you can restore because keyboard firmware is so simple that basically asus doesnt provide a backup option.

The problem that you have aren't problems of the new firmware, because we don't have any problems. So should be a drivers problems.

Now... try to do this things:

    -uninstall aura core
    -uninstall aura service and lightning
    -reboot
-update atk package to the latest from asus support page of gl703vm (1.00.57 or something)
-install aura service 3.02.23, download from gl703gm support page
-install aura core from microsoft store
    -reboot.

If you do these simple steps everything should be working and okay.

Guy's bios 312 is out, downlodable from device manager in firmware update.

I already updated but doesn't bring anything new. Maybe fans are quieter on low temperatures, but i'm not sure.
