Is it possible for you guys to test if the laptop GPU thermal throttles under a prolonged gaming session in Turbo mode? I have noticed that with the new drivers, GPU power doesn't spike as much on the GPU, but at the end it does reach 92C on the Hotspot and starts thermal throttling again.

    Some updates.

After seeing that the issue I had where the GPU would stumble when reaching 92C (hotspot temp), I decided to touch up the LM application, this time with an amount similar to what ASUS uses. Now my fps doesn't drop, and in some test the GPU does get higher temperatures without stumbling on Turbo mode. In addition, I've finally gotten more than 12000 in Timepsy graphics (external monitor):

    https://www.3dmark.com/spy/22187408

So overall, really, re-applying LM totally not worth it with this machine. Nothing to gain and much to lose. Unless you are experiencing artifacts, totally not worth the effort.

Finally, something I've done is to repurpose the heatsinks for the SSD from my deceased Alienware Area 51m. I was experiencing overheating on my Samsung 970 Pro located on SSD bay 2. No more problems.

I had two SSDs in use but no issues with overheating did you use it as raid 0? on the other hand was it the 970 or 970 pro which had some issues with overheating? i think it was the 970 but not sure for both of them.

SSD Bay 1 has a vent, but Bay 2 does not. I'm running a 970 Pro and a Sabrent Rocket 2TB, no RAID.

You definitely want the unlocked bios. MSI Delta 15 can do it with the 5800H + 6700M. It can manually tune every RAM parameter, set SmartShift config, enable S3 Suspend. Just no voltage control options for the 5800H that I have found.

    PXL_20210817_225450785.jpg

Anybody hear any word on the Strix G17 being available in the US? I saw that somebody in Russia got one from a post on Reddit. So nice with the QHD panel and full number pad keyboard.

Maybe with MorePowerTool if it can work with Navi22. I have not tried, just looking at stock performance for now.

It seems to keep up with a mid grade 3070 in Timespy:

On the computerbase Forum there is one guy who use mpt with the 6800m succesful to optimize power for it.

I had the Alpha 15 with 6600M here as mvt sample from MSI and RAM OC was not possible.

No Information about G17 all know is that it was not for sale in germany.

i check it with the Samsung SSD from the G15 next to the fan and my Sabrent Rocket Q 2TB on M.2 Slot two.
CrystalDiskMark run at the same time with some seconds difference and i would say the Samsung 970 is the issue and not the position or distance of the ssd.
i reached 81° max with the Samsung SSD as i wrote on M.2 Slot 1 which is next to the fan and 68° with my sabrent on M.2 slot 2.

No longer having issues with the 970 Pro since adding the heatsink. Previously it was hitting 90C on the memories and thermal throttling.

BTW, does the Rocket Q have memory modules on the back? There is a stud for attaching shorter SSD that hits with SSDs with memory modules on the back.

Hi Jean. I'm a new member who joined because I just bought a G15 AE. I searched over at computerbase and it looks like you are testing with the modded/unlocked bios over there?
    https://www-computerbase-de.transla...tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=ajax,sc,elem#post-25952590

Sorry I don't read German so I had to use Google translate. Do you have the modded bios now? Thank you very much for reading this :)

    current status:

    - today the last part arrived a 1.8V Adapter for the programmer because the chip needs 1.8V.
    - i try to create 2 bios dumps for the guys here. [Request] ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition G513 (AMD) (bios-mods.com) <--- all updates you can find here
    - if everything works the guys are able to create a mod where we can have CBS/PBS/AOD/PciDynamic menus.

As i wrote for more information whats going on follow the link to the bios-mods forum.
