What post exactly? My g73 had already the new vbios, i just tuned it for better power settings;p I just posted something not asked for the vbios;p
-
Well, that "funny looking BSOD" was probably a GSOD.
-
If it was a Gsod it wouldn't be blue;p

ok from reading all the threads seems like this modified bios is good lower volts , lower temperature , overdrive unlocked
just i am concirned about the flickering screen i know that would annoy me so i want you to tell me guys when the screen flickers?(when changing memory on GPU i know that - when going from one mode in another )
but be more specific
when watching videos ? when playing games? on startup? pluging unpluging? -
Will the OP delete this thread. It is confusing the general population that has not been following things as closely as most of us.
-
-
The v3 vBIOS is old and would still have the GSOD issue.
Please only use vBIOS based off of v93 as seen here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/515309-how-fix-your-gsod-blues.html -
Nope, updated the OP, everything is there.

So I tried updating my vbios to the one that is uploaded in the original post, but the flash failed after the first attempt, and then windows 7 crashed and now I'm stuck with a bricked laptop.
Will the blind flash process recover my laptop or will I have to send it in for RMA? Trying to create a bootable flash drive at the moment. -
Sorry to hear that happened. Wonder why your OS crashed. Hmmm. That is just horrible luck, but hopefully the blind flash will work and you'll have a good working, non GSOD vBios anyhow with Gary's. -
In the text file, should the yourbios part just be the name of the BIOS.rom?
-
so far, it's not working. I might have to contact him directly about this...
-
Which version of WinFlash did you use?
-
the newest version on the site.
ugh this is hopeless, I haven't been able to figure out how to get the blind flash to work... I followed the instructions in the post but it just doesn't work for me. -
The sequence of automated code seem to be working on another computer where I can manually choose what to boot. I also added a reboot command at the end to make it reboot if it does finish flashing the vbios, but nothing happen so my guess is that this isn't working because it never even get to boot to the USB drive in the first place. I've taken out all the hard drives and CDs but still nothing happens...

Winkyeye, this sounds a lot like the my flash crash and a blind flash didn't work.
Does your GPU fan run when you have power?
Do you have to hold down power button for a few seconds to shutdown (may not apply to you)?
Mine seemed to be hung on a P.O.S.T. error and therefore never got to a point where anything could be booted from. It was an RMA for a mobo and VGA replacement.

Hopefully IcedDragon can help you figure out what he did different. I'd wait to try and fix it with his advice before sending it in for RMA. This is a real bummer.
Each situation seems to be different. Quagmire, yours you got a fail and then rebooted yourself. IcedDragon said his was successful, but when he rebooted, nothing happened. IcedDragon had used bootable USB. And this last one, Windows crashed. My Windows has yet to crash. Wish I could do more to fix this situation.
IcedDragon and I had the same problem. Dos bootdisk method indicated it was successful, but when we restarted, nothing happened.
BTW Winkeye, did you try to do the blindflash with the default vBios from Gary? Not mine, just Gary's? -
I've tried the stock vbios also but nothing works. I'm pretty sure its just not booting since when I changed the script to only reboot when it boots to the USB and auto executes atiflash, still nothing happens.
It looks like I'm gonna have to rma... now since I got my laptop from bestbuy, should I contact them first or just go after Asus? How does the process work? -
Best Buy is an ASP for Asus. Just bring it in.

Just updated my post on Blind Flashing, hopefully this will help Winkyeye. I'd appreciate it if you guys would look at my tutorial to see if I missed anything or stated anything wrong.
-
Hope that helps Winkeye

I tried both methods and no hope. It never even creates the success.txt.
Gonna try and restore system default in BIOS one more time before taking it to bb -

So I dropped by best buy and when I turned on their display model with the usb drive plugged in, the light indicator on the drive was on and flashed whereas on my laptop, it lights up for a second then powers off. From this, I'm guessing there's something wrong with the motherboard.
Also for doing the blind bios way that IceDragon mentioned, you press left once and then down 7 times if you have only 1 HDD, and 8 times if you have 2 HDD's, just btw.
Thanks for the help guys but my laptop is in the hands of best buy now. I'm really hoping they can get it quickly fixed. -
I hope you get your G73 back in good time. Best Buy hopefully will have fast repair times. Sorry about your situation again.
-
yup no problem, now I can focus on my studies before fall break hahaha

), the pc froze on the "Fail" message and I had to hold the power button down for 5 seconds (or pull the plug & batt) to do anything, then it was bricked and unable to get past POST.
Your GPU is def a brick in my experience and Asus is apt to replace your mobo also, even though I can't be totally sure it was damaged considering Kens results.
Either way, you had the same detrimental flash crash I did imo.
Absolutely go to BB first, they may just swap it out with another for you. That is the great advantage of the BB model. Good luck.
EDIT: Oh, I see you're already on the BB path. Sorry, this is not a time I wanted to be right

hey Ziddy will you update your videobios if an other version comes out?
and if u update can we download the newest at the first page? -
whats the difference between this vbios and chastity's one. apart fromt he overdrive feature. However i have this feature and i am using the 10.10 drivers from ati themselves. (of course i have 211 bios and chastity's v93 bios).
-
My release is based on the updated beta vBIOS to address the GSOD issue. Ziddy's is based on the stock vBIOS and is missing this fix.
-
Chastity's VBios are the ones to use , most here are running them and they are working fine.
We are waiting to hear from Gary on the updates and fixes , And if I read it right they are working on a final Vbios for the system, so you might keep an eye out for when they are done. -
So Chastity your ones is more uptodate than ziddys?
hmm ok i dont have any problems with ziddys release but im an actually fanatic^^
have you changed the voltage in your bios too? this is a very important feature for me.
and can i have a link please?
thx -
