it's all placebo bro
don't celebrate too soon![]()

Still rock solid on 213, no incidents yet.
-
It'll go hay-wire soon enough. Like it always does w/ mine, 2-3 days no prob after new BIOS and then it dies.
-

Here's a good procedure for this nonsense:
1) Uninstall KB Filter and Synaptics. And I mean uninstall... make sure you are using MS drivers, and not older versions
2) Update to 213
3) Reinstall your KB and Synaptics (using 15.2.7 no prob) -
hey chastity! does your synaptics have disable touchpad when theres a mouse?
-
Does it work the new bios or not?I tried downloading it, but it sais that the file is no longer available, and on the asus site it is not posted.Maybe you can help me with the download as well.Thanks.
-
good thing I maintain mirrors.
Anyway, just remember that the "Final Solution" was also suppose to include drivers as well, so if you want to wait, go ahead. -
Thanks Chastity, i've just flashed, let see how it goes
-
I'm a bit exited about this. Can't wait for driver update. -
-
Actually, I was referring to the Keyboard Filter Driver 1.03

i must say my Touchpad is much better with the 213 update. But i think there is something with the palm rest. It starts to crap up if i use the TP resting my left hand on the palm rest.
Also if i have the laptop on my laps, it totally screws up there. Not sure what is going on. -
Upgraded to 213 and no problems thus far ...
Touchpad does seem better .. -
Anyone want to try this ? PS/2 Mouse Report Rate under Windows 7 x64 - Logitech Forums
it seems both of the registry fixes reported here make things works. -
I did not have the exact key as described in the link. I do have two named SYN0A06 and I turned up the SampleRate to 200 on both.
I created a system restore point first.
My machine rebooted with no ill effects. I just did it so I am not sure if it has helped my touchpad yet. I will report back either way, very soon if it acts up as usual.
Turning up the sample rate makes sense to me as it seems the tp fails when there is more sensing going on. I am thinking if there is a quicker way to empty the buffer (if there is a buffer) it might help. Please keep in mind that I really have no idea how it all works, but if you apply the usual logic... if some is good, more is better.
Edit: I played around with a bunch of different settings and it did not help at all.
Cheers and thanks for the post. -
I tried the registry fix, but it made my mouse even more unstable. Still hopping there is an absolute solution for the touchpad.
-
What a shame. Once mine gets returned to me, I expect the same crap to resurface. I actually play WoW on my touchpad instead of a mouse, so it's infuriating for it to break down during gameplay (I've beaten the game in pvp/pve using a touchpad).
I hope there's a fix soon of any sort or else I'm going to have to kick & scream until I get a refund from Asus and buy a Sager/AW (even the G53 is being considered since it doesn't have these issues) instead lol. -
I know why they put PS/2 connection instead of a USB, look on the Spec SteelSeries published on their gaming pro keyboard. I say it's a good decision, the only problem is to understand what is the cause for the missing keys
USB OR PS/2? The 6Gv2 is built with a USB as standard, but we also included a USB to PS/2 adapter in the box. The choice is yours.
We absolutely recommend using the PS/2 connector when possible. First,it will give you total freedom with no limit to the amount of simultaneous key presses. And, equally as important, using the PS/2 may just improve your overall gaming experience. The reason is that when you use a USB keyboard your computer is actually using CPU time polling your keyboard. The higher the polling rate the more CPU time is used to perform the polling. And because of the built-in debounce rate found on any quality keyboard, any polling rate above 200Hz is simply a waste of CPU time and really just a result of pointless marketing hype. Unlike USB keyboards a PS/2 keyboard isn’t polled at all. The keyboard simply sends a signal to the computer as key presses are made, which causes a hardware interrupt, forcing the CPU to register the signal. -
I'm still having touchpad issues myself. Tried uninstalling drivers, reinstalling, reinstalling the new BIOS. Nada. Not sure if the regedit will do anything, but I suppose I could give it a shot.
For me, the touchpad works fine for about an hour, then it goes nuts and managed to fix itself after a certain period of time, only to go crazy again. -
-
Did they say whats the change log of the bios 211 to 213 ?
-
Touchpad is borked. It was fine for a few weeks, but now it goes crazy and barely responds at all, at weird times. If I could reproduce it regularly, I'd get it on video.
Honestly, I *want* to like this computer. I really, really do. But when I have problems that keep popping, it makes it so hard. -
Touchpad seems completely fixed for me, I have yet to get any problem. Feels good man, the G73 is perfect for me now.
-
i am getting resizes sometimes(sensitive) ...although it is working fine -
Here's what I have done and my touchpad seems to work fine except its more sensitive than what I would like:
1. Remove Synaptics
2. Reboot into BIOS
3. Arrow right one time and press Enter to start ezFlash
4. Flash to BIOS 213
5. Boot into Windows
6. Install Synaptics 15.2.7
7. Reboot when instructed
8. Uncheck pinch zoom and rotate
9. Increase Palm Check a couple of knotches to the right.
10. Use the computer and try not to be too mad about how much of a hair trigger the touchpad has.
I know you know how to do this, but I thought I would throw it out there because we've all done it a thousand times and ten different ways but this is what worked for me. I've been posting around in a few threads all night and I have missed no keystrokes and my touchpad has been working all weekend even though I have to be careful not to let my left palm get too near the touchpad or it will go into two finger scroll mode.
I've also fiddled with the drivers and BIOS flashing enough to know that sometimes you can get it into a whacky state and can't get it out again.Doing the above steps finally made mine start working decently and it stopped being stupid and getting stuck in the corner.
-
I'm assuming this didn't do much for your keyboard though, right? -
Also, my dropped-keys problem has been fixed since 211 beta 1. At this point, I'm complaining because it seems asus *can* fix it - I can't even describe how happy I was to have a working keyboard. Again, this goes back to really wanting to like this computer. -

My touchpad is still 'borked' (good word for it). If I am really careful and do not rest my palms on the tp while typing it will still work OK, most of the time. I can get it to fail fairly consistently by touching both sides of the touchpad for 10 -20 seconds. Like I said though this does not work all of the time. It will also fail quite often if I pick the laptop up and reposition it on my lap. This seems to be consistent with a lot of posts that report it is worse when when taken off of a desk. Sometimes I will just be mousing over a webpage and and it will bork. You can tell right away by its sudden sluggish movement.
I don't think it is a tp driver issue, the different versions just effect the problem further down the line in different ways. Even with no tp driver installed, (Windows uses the mouse one) it was climbing its way over to the right side of my screen. Maybe it is to be expected as it is a mouse driver after all.
I am now running the latest driver (the no scrybe one) and as usual have most stuff turned off. I also turned the speed down a bit to see if that helps. It seems to me it will bork sometimes when the cursor is moving swiftly across the screen.
Mine will also fail when a window pops up when using Google docs, which again makes me think it may be related to the video driver.
I was reading through some old posts and there was one that mentioned that the problem did not exist with the 206 bios or maybe it was the original vbois. Can anyone confirm that? Maybe it is a conflict with the video card driver or firmware. -
I have the exact same issue as Morecoffee with the same description he gave. I also don think its a Driver Problem. Maybe a bios one, because if you uninstall Synaptic drivers and use windows ones it still fails. Maybe a palmrest/touchpad replacement would fix it with RMA.

Here's a synopsis of my BIOS saga. My laptop was out on RMA when the betas started coming in so I pretty much went straight to Beta 3. I don't know if it was perfect but it was LOTS better on missed keystrokes but my TP was crazy sensitive. I went to Beta 4 and the TP was completely unusable. I went back and forth to 206, 209, 211, and beta 3 and couldn't get it to work right again.
One night I was killing time on IRC with Chastity and she suggested trying Beta 3 again. I did because she's got some kind of karma when it comes to G73s. It didn't help until I removed and reinstalled the Synaptics driver. Touchpad working again but crazy sensitive. Missed keystrokes were much better but still there. Instead of two per paragraph it was about one every other paragraph.
I installed 213 and removed Synaptics 15.1.9. I installed 15.2.7 and the touchpad is still too sensitive but it works fine. The missed keystrokes have disappeared since I installed 213.
To be fair, I don't know if the touchpad has anything at all to do with the betas. They replaced my touchpad while it was out on RMA so I have no idea if it was like this the whole time or not. My ORIGINAL touchpad worked perfectly as far as I remember. They replaced it in an attempt to make my machine stop missing keystrokes.
That's really long. I should stop blathering. I wish I could find the magic formula to make everyone's touchpad and keyboard work correctly. I think we have all the right tools. 213, Synaptics 15.2.7 or 15.1.9, and some goofy remove/reinstall procedure fixes it. I don't know which way, though!
I'm like DcX... I've literally done it fifty ways and it finally started working right the last time. -

I just got back into town, has the new Bios come out yet! Has anything happened on the fixes and upgrades. I have missed about two weeks of news on this. Thanks for any help on catching me up on the issues at hand.
-
You can get the 213 bios from Chastity's driver ROG post. My tp just borked after I typed the first sentence...
-
In other news (Yes, I'm attention "streetwalking") I've repasted 3x and found that my chip ... with a GOOD paste job ... sits at about 96 TSS1. -
Your GPU is failing? Is it performing badly or just running too hot? Do you think it's really that hot? Are the other two sensors near TSS1 or is it out in left field by itself? -
-
-
is there a changelog for the latest bios?
and why isnt it on the official asus support site? -
-
Update -
I apologize for the lack of updates recently.
1. We should have a qualified 0213 BIOS ready shortly along with an update to the Trackpad drivers and ATK utility on the G73Jh.
2. I will start a new thread shortly, but I will ask for suggestions/comments on a refresh unit featuring AMD's upcoming 68xx series and Sandy Bridge. -
Let's hope shortly means just that. My tp is completely unusable this morning.
Great news though. -
lets finish this touchpad thing and go to the vbios - there are a lot of things to be fixed there
-
Then what is the BIOS 213 that Chastity is currently hosting?!
Dang I just spent a whole day reinstalling too... -
