my laptop freezes sometimes, especially after hibernate. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be? My audio drivers are updated.
-
Did Gary ever actually officially release 213 or is it still a beta? I installed the ATK 1.0008 or whatever it was (posted a few pages earlier)
-
The US site hasn't yet, but the German Asus site did, and I confirmed they are correct files.
-
As a quick reply most notable freeze issues are related to bad drivers, and sometimes software (skype is known to cause this) and lastly could be bad hardware like memory or even the hard drive. I suggest you describe all the specifics to your problem in the new topic you create. -
Forgive the ignorance in not reading this monster of a thread, but the 213 Bios is supposed to specifically contain "fixes" to address the keyboard & touchpad issues right?
Nothing else that benefits those without such issues other than having a higher version number? -
-
Just flashed to 213 and already noticing a difference with the keyboard, definitely a good fix. 213 and the new ATK 1.0.0008 with the latest touch pad driver from the synaptic website

I have ZERO missed keys. This problem is completely solved for me with 213. I've been using it for weeks now and have missed no keystrokes. My touchpad sucks, though. It kind of works but it's unacceptable. I forgot my mouse at the office one day last week and was working from home the next day. I tried to use the touchpad. That lasted about thirty minutes and I was in the back room looking for an old USB mouse in the junk box. If I couldn't find one I was going to have to drive back out to the office and get mine because the touchpad just doesn't work well enough. Completely unreliable.
-
I think most would agree the keyboard issue was fixed with 213. The touchpad issues still persist though. I will not go as far to say that none of this has worked for everyone with touchpad issues. I will say that for the occasional user of the tp it most likely seems to be fixed sort of. If you really use the touchpad though, it will fail, and like Jody said you will have to go looking for your alternate pointing device.
-
I can say on mine the Keyboard is not fixed, I am still having issues with keys not working or slow sometimes , although it is not as bad as it was that is for sure.
I wonder what happened to Gary ? Any news at all. -
Yeah, my missed key problem has been solved since beta 2, IIRC. Maybe beta 3? Anyways, no more missed keys. Honestly, I'll live with a wonky touchpad (it's really annoying not to be able to use it, really throws off my work flow...) but I couldn't live with a keyboard that didn't type.
-
If I had at least a month of time where I'm out of school, then I would rma just for a simple touchpad fix and use my old computer I still have, but I don't. Their Rma takes up to 3 weeks to a month according to everyone on the forums and I can't afford to not have it when I'm on campus.
But then again, that much time for just a touchpad....maybe. -
Perhaps it works perfectly, and I just have higher expectations for it. I couldn't really call mine defective, just really sensitive. -
@ Ruckus, main reason is they just take too long. I trust them enough to fix certain things. As long as it doesn't end up in indiana (I think it was), then It should be good.
But 3 weeks to 1 month to fix a laptop is a no no. But something like a repaste, I'll pay extra to let gentech do that. -
I'm willing to bet it has something to do with the design of the chasis as it puts pressure on the touchpad when you push down around the area near the touchpad. This causes the touchpad to freak out thinking ur doing pinch zooming or pinch scroll, because it thinks you got 2 fingers on it.
-
Oh wow just upgraded to beta 213 and its so much better, keyboard missing is fixed and touchpad is 80% better, pinch and zoom and 2 finger navivation to scroll down still needs work but much improved already
-
-
And i have been through an Asus RMA - my wifes G71 was gone for a month (also had touchpad problems); and frankly, i need my laptop. -
Installed some minutes ago. So far so good. Improvement is quite noticeable, seems to work like it used to without the Synaptics drivers.
-
12 hours still going well. Installed the latest Synaptics but haven't had a chance to reboot. Typing is nice again.
-
It has been 4 days since I installed the new ATK package 1.0.0008. I think my touchpad is behaving a lot better. At this point I am not going to say it is fixed, but it is definitely improved. I actually ventured from my desk to the couch twice in the last two days and did not have to come back and and get my trackball. If I can go a week without a lasting malfunction I will be convinced.
Edit Day 5: I almost had to getup off the couch to get my trackball. The touchpad was sluggish this morning... would not move at times. It took four tries to get the keyboard fixed... -
bios 213 already official on asus website
-
nice to hear, did gary posted a changelog or some comments?
Edit:
nothing changed, the leaked version is the same as the official.
Changelog: Firmware change
LOL very interesting asus -
For your information, its the same Bios as The one posted on the rogforum from Chastity . I've checked the Sha-1 .
So if you already have it, no need to reinstall-it -
Did the ATK update. Touchpad seems the exact same, if a little more sluggish (might be in my head).
But, been on 213 for a week or two, it's nice. The last beta was nice too. -
I think the ATK screwed up my synabtic drivers so I was forced to reinstalled mine. No problems now.
-
-
is the BIOS 213 on asus site newer than the one we installed earlier ?
-
I think is the same as the one Gary posted.
-
-
-
Well i installed the new Bios 213 + ATK 1.0008 since last week and no Keyboardlags or Touchpad problems atm. I am very happy now
.
-
-
We need HellCry here to tell us that installing 213 + 1.0.0008 caused his system to fail completely and his HDDs shot out the sides, or at least complain that his system now works, and it took Asus too damn long to get it done.
-
And that the Clevo D900F he had sprouted wings, flew around and started producing special foods that ended world hunger. -
Xellon, DCx ?
i hate you -
Sigh, I was hoping that the official 213s were newer. I actually have worse touchpad behavior then with the last beta. I am playing with palm check though, with some improvement, so we shall see.
Without the atk, it actually did cause instability. With it though, no issues so far.
Now, fingers crossed for part 3 of the fix... New touch pad drivers. -
for me the bios is ok, time for new vbios
when im in batterymode and wake up from standby the card dosnt changes to performance and i have to restart
and the vbios is still beta. -
U want it set to performance in battery mode? Probably just on batteries depending on how much power u have left isn't going to get you the performance u need.
but if you want, disable powerplay in ccc. I would update power4gear also if you haven't. -
I remember someone on this forum tried replacing the keyboard and touchpad. As far as I remember it didn't work, correct? Would ASUS replace my touchpad with a two button touchpad if I were to request it? Because those seem to work fine. I assume if the touchpad used different voltage settings the keyboard would also stop lagging.
-
that is very interesting. is there actually any other TP model that fits the G73? If so which one
-
-
This touchpad is just too sensitive, I don't think any software update will fix a hardware issue for being way too sensitive as it senses pressure from the sides of the touchpad as if you're touching the touchpad with a finger (even with palm check turned to max)
-
I don't think its a sensitivity thing. Because sometimes it craps out without touching the palm rest. I think its a hardware failure thing. I got newest ATK Bios and everything, and the touch-pad is still
. I wonder if Gary is actually going to post something.

-
Just updated my G73JW with new asus oficial 205 bios. And no more missing keystrokes with touchpad enable.
Finally !!! -
After working quite well for 4 days or so my touchpad is back to not working properly
