Its a "beta" version, so its lightweight. If you want Scrybe, just install 15.2.7 first and then install 15.2.11. This driver seems to have fixed any issue I had with pressing down on the sides of the touchpad.

that video window is showing again omg.... taping zone didn't helped (i have it disabled)
i am going to make some search through net and post if i found the answer
EDIT: okay i thing i got it fixed it now
even though i have disabled tap zones the video was showing again so now i did this
on top right action i choose no zone so i think it is fine -
Ow frosty thanks for the info,
My top right tap zone doesn't work... -
I don't know why you use tap zone, it tends to go wack when you tap to double click.
-
My touchpad is running fine i can use the tap zones easily, the only problem of my touchpad is the sudden jump and sometimes stopping and the upper right tap zone!
) that are the only problem i encounter, I use scrolling too it works fine.
-
morecofee any news after you did the mod?
-
I see that we do not have any updates yet . I have been gone for a couple weeks and I thought the Bios would be out . Hmm
As to my Notebook I still can not type normally as my key presses get behind and I am still having missed key strokes on double key presses .
With some software it is madding trying to type .
I am beginning to think that there is a hardware issue that cannot be overcome with software , and that is why we are still waiting for a fix.
I know that most of the time my Notebook is unusable in the sense that you can not work with all the errors that come up .
I am going to wait till the next Bios update and see what happens before I make anymore moves . -

The ASUS party-line is that it's software, which will avoid RMAs and is thus not surprising. -

I added a KB / TP fix package for G73 series on my driver Page. Look under Packages.
Contains:
ATK 1.0.0008
Synaptics 15.2.11
213 BIOS for JH
205 BIOS for JW
Confirmed that the 15.2.11 is the driver package we were waiting for. -
Here is a step by step of what I did to stop my touchpad from going dead from the flexing of the palm rest on the left side.
Step by Step guide
This fix in combination with the new ATK package 1.0.0008, Bios 213 and the latest Synaptics 15.2.7 should fix the dropped keystroke and the touchpad going dead and zipping to the right side problem.
Cheers -
If that is the final fix then it is RMA time again for me at some point. ;/ TP feel is better and area aound touch padis less problematic. But, it still wigs out from time to time, although it seems to recover fast. It also still loses right area vert scrollingwhen it wants too. At least so far with a day under the new tp driver.
-
When I tried to intall the ATK 1.0.0008 it told me the program was already installed and i had to uninstall it first.
Any help here? -
Uninstall the existing ATK, then run the 1.0.0008 installer.
-
I just assumed it would update the original. I just installed the new Atk Package and my Fn F9 key isn't working. I pm'ed you to see if you could help and to keep it off this thread, but I decided to post here anyways to see if anyone else has this issue and knows how fix it.
Edit: After messing with it for the last 20 minutes I figured out all I needed to do was unplug my mouse then uninstall those two drivers and reinstall them. -
chastity does your 15.2.11 have scrybe and a more recent UI in it?

I think my touchpad and keyboard are finally working properly after all this time. Two things come to mind.
1. I am very disappointed that it took such a very long time to get this fixed.
2. I am extremely appreciative that Gary kept a team focused on this until they ran it to ground. A lot of lesser companies would have ignored it in already sold systems and engineered it out of future models.
Anyway, I am able to put my hands on the palm rest and use the touchpad just like on any other laptop I've ever used. My keyboard is not throwing away keystrokes randomly. Now I have nothing to whine about and I don't know what I will do with myself.
Edit: I should have specified that ATK Package 1.008, Synaptics 15.2.11, and BIOS 213 is what finally straightened out my G73JH. -
-
if you continue whining we will never see new vbios so think about the other guys here and share the love
glad you have a working touchpad -
does the 15.2.11 have the new interface like 15.2.7?
-
-
remember that 15.2.11 is a "leak" and may not be finished. Gary says to use this pack pending an "official" release. I wanted to get this out since at least people can work on their machines.

I know i havent been round for a while.. but since you gave me something to play with...
Ive got one question for you; using 213 Bios + Synaptics 15.2.11 + ATK 1.0008, does the FN+F9 combo for enable/disable touchpad also not work for the rest of you or is this a bug that only i got blessed with?
I can press it as much as i want and it keeps showing disabled only, but the touchpad is always enabled (i can disable it fine in settings but thats the long way around).
I might as well update my thread too since this combo seams to really get rid of the missing keystrokes even for me.
-
I had seen that earlier so I pulled the nub for my wireless mouse before installing 15.2.11 to keep from having that problem. -
-
It also installed scribe before with the driver and didnt do it now...
Edit: After a few minutes after boot pressing the FN combo shows the disabled icon, but it still doesnt work... -
It is weird, but I am using MX performance as well, I flash the bios without the mouse plugging in... but I install both ATK and Synaptic with the USB plug in... no problem so far...(touch wood)... it enable and disable properly... -
do these synabtic drivers still have the multi gestures like two finger scrolling? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
edit - I guess I need Scrybe but where can I download it seperately from the drivers? Or should I uninstall this one, install the one on the synaptic site to install scrybe, then uninstall those drivers but keep scrybe, then install the ones on here? -
-
My Fn+F9 didn't work too after I have reinstalled the atk and installed 15.2.11, but it was working when I was at 15.2.7, Maybe we just need to wait for the official release, my Top right tap zone works now
what I did to have the scrybe is I only unistalled the synaptics from the control panel, then I installed the 15.2.11 and scrybe is working for me, If you dont have synaptics installed and you have scrybe I think theres a problem because when I uninstalled synaptics I tried using scrybe it goes to "not responding". -
well, here is the link to download scrybe
Download - SYNAPTICS | Scrybe
now to figure out how to add two finger scrolling
edit - hmm, it seems scrybe is more of a "select your gesture" and have it do something. I don't think it can have 2 finger scrolling for ex.....
Looks like we will need another synabtic update maybe for the gesturesbut then again, these aren't official yet. we have the pinch zoom, rotation, and other stuff, but no 2 finger scroll or 3 finger gestures.
-
it's fun and i enjoyed it but then i saw 1-2% usage when doing nothing so i deleted it
as far for the 2 fingers scroll and 3 fingers click use v15.2.7 i think that was it
it has everything in it and a new interface...for me all the 15 versions react the same ... so if you didn't had problems before then this is the version you are looking for -
15.2.11 has done wonders for me, 15.2.7 did not. As for the two finger scrolling, I never used it so its fine.
-
ok, I'll give version 15.2.7 a try. hopefully I won't have any issues. If I do, I'll just stick with 15.2.11
-
One of the users on the ROG forum figured out that 15.2.11 doesn't enable 2-figure gestures in the registry, but does work if you manually enable it. He did it by uninstall 15.2.11, installed an older driver pack, and just did an update install over the drivers with 15.2.11
Would be easier if anyone knew the registry setting -
My tp is working perfectly with 15.2.7... does that mean it was the ATK package that actually fixed the tp. I removed and installed so many tp drivers I am not sure if I had tried it before. Maybe it was the combination of the two, the Synaptics driver installed after the new ATK package.
I am so pleased that it all seems to be working well. My tp does not shut off with the fn + f9 keys but I use it all the time anyway so it does not matter.
I did not have to wait as long as some of you to get all these issues cleared up, I bought my JH in September 2010. The good news is it is working properly and I never had to send it in. My faith in the Asus corporation is restored. I would also like to thank the people who have posted on this forum and the forum owners as I think it played a part in motivating Asus to fix the problems.
Cheers -
I almost never use a mouse with my machine, and when I do I don't bother to turn off the touchpad...
Bios 213 + 15.2.11 Synaptics + 1.008 ATK seems to be working fine... not too many sleep/awake cycles to say for certain things are fixed, but it is looking good so far... Just my luck the touchpad will freak now...
Well, turns out I just tested plugging in the ROG Mouse, worked fine, touchpad worked fine, hit Fn+F9, showed touchpad disabled, touchpad does nothing, mouse still works fine, hit Fn+F9 again, says touchpad enabled, touchpad works fine, mouse works fine, unplugged the mouse, touchpad still works, Fn+F9 still works and does what it is supposed to...
Honestly, I think a lot of these machines are screaming for a fresh re-install of the the OS and everything else... -
so at LONG LAST, my laptop is at 100% efficency and works as it should as far as asus goes. Touchpad is amazing now. No screw ups, and the flow just feels a lot better. The feel does to as well as the response time.
Its almost like my finger is controller the curser, not the pad xD -

From what I'm reading it looks like there's been some success, so I updated the first post again. If I should change anything let me know -- I'm not in the G73 camp anymore to test these things myself. Cheers.

So is everybody still in 'Blind ASUS hate' mode? Lawl, I kid. Works as fine as always these drivers, lost Fn+F9 also though.
-
So the Fn+F9 is working for some, but not for others...
I was playing round last night with these drivers... Tried reinstalling ATK and Synaptics in different order, tried installing over the 15.2.7, tried reinstalling fresh, USB mouse plugged in/out, with logitech drivers removed...
What i can say about my machine is; both 15.2.7 & 15.2.11 work just fine, no missing keystrokes in combination with ATK 1.0008 & Bios 213.
Scrybe that comes with 15.2.7 is pretty useless to me, since you cant remove the default gestures, 90% of which i dont use and they often get recognised instead of the gestures i set for things i want.
The old interface on 15.2.11 seams better to me; you have more options to choose from (i like the chiral motion scrolling for instance).
But the FN+F9 combo is really a mistery; it works just fine with 15.2.7 (didnt even need to reinstall ATK), but just wont work for me with 15.2.11 no matter what i do, so for the time being ill just have to stick with 15.2.7, since disabling the touchpad is crucial for me, as i never remove the USB receiver for my logitech mice, so using "disable touchpad when USB mouse is present" is out of the question for me. -
Here's the 2 Finger Scrolling Registry Entries:
Synaptics 2 Finger Scroll.reg
A heads up though, there seems to be multiple profiles when I was poking around named TouchPadPS2, TouchPADPS2_00,TouchPADPS2_01, I deleted all the other profiles except of the original. For those experiencing Fn+F9 problem, I'd try deleting all the profiles and do a reboot (back em' up first!). Anyway, the registry entry above should enable two finger scrolling. -
mine is only failing when i press on the palmrest it works good if i dont after the driver bios and ATK update. I will have to do that touchpad mod. Maybe what made Morecofee's touchpad to work perfectly is His MOD.
MoreCoffee can you please put in your guide in what point of the laptop did you insert the pieces. Close to the touchpad or to the corners? -
bios installed, atk installed, driver installed. Touchpad seems better, but continues to have problems. Actually, i can say that it doesent work.
edit: after a reset of touchpad setting it seems working better, but the up-left corner of the touchpad (a zone of about 1x1 cm) seems dead, and sometimes it stop again working -
Seems to work fine. But NO two finger scrolling. *sigh*
