i am just lazy to read all of the pages
and i need some quick answer between
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Series Daniel_K
and this thread (and they are free right)
and last question
can i install latest realtek
becouse i see on this thread version 2.48 is pointed
-
Yes, latest realtek drivers work according to posts I read. also, I'm using latest realtek right now but I'm using trial version. so I can't say 100% myself that latest works for the hacked version or not.
what else.... the x-fi mb2 (or whatever it was called) doesn't work on the JH so don't bother with that one.
the genuine x-fi version I think cost $19 was it? -
ok after reading all the pages here are my understandings
dissapointed noone answered my question (i can forgive you if you were sleeping or not here)
this package is patched (free) and have more options than regular Audigy 1.0
and can be used with the latest realtek version (i don't want to install 2.48 becouse i don't want to start getting lockups again... althought someone mentioned 2.48 and latest realtek is like day and night)
but what about Daniel_K mod ? (it is not free?)
and i remember seeing Chastity mentioned that she will try this patch on daniel_k mod and that's it she didn't reported
what is the difference with daniel_k mod? -
but I can promise u won't have any lockups with the latest realtek as I've updated my realtek every time they made a new driver update without issues.
edit - in fact, before updating to x-fi, have u updated your Audigy version yet? it was more of a fix for dell laptops but it works. Supposedly it fixes lockups if the realtek update didn't or something like that. "windows 7 compatible" would be a more appropriate wording. -
That update is great. It makes Audigy 64 bit stable.
-
anyway i've seen this thread a long time ago and it didn't catch my eye becouse someone mentioned that the bass is different and it is personal taste if you like it or not and it threats it like a third speaker -
of course, too much bass sounds like crap as well as treble. How much bass I have depends on whats playing. But I generally have a wooden board under my laptop when I'm on my bed and too much bass caused it to vibrate and make too much noise. So I adjusted the bass accordingly. Had to go out and buy a wider wood so it can fit under my laptop. less vibrating that way.
The volume jump still exists. So IMHO, Only update if your a headphone user like myself. thats what I think. There is a minor difference in sound without them but thats up to u to decide. Besides, I don't think trying the trial would hurt. Only takes 30 seconds to install. no uninstalling required.
edit - I don't like Patched products that go too deep into the system where u have to do all kinds of crap like going into safe mode or whatever. a lot of them (and I'm not saying this one in particular) have spyware which hardly any av detects. -
i always want the personal meaning from a user not like giving a general meaning
i don't know why you've installed the trial and not this (except if you are planing to pay for it) i personally wont and this is probably not so hard to install
bass is important to what i listen (house, trance)
i might try it these days
thanks again -
Is there a way to change the mode (entertainment, game, etc) on the Sound Blaster X-FI 1090? I can't find the option and certain options only work in game mode.
PS. Can the X-FI Surround 5.1 output optical audio in 5.1 for games? I can't seem to get it to and I will be pissed if I can't because that is my only option for my 5.1 sound system. -
-
but i want to get the best sound from the laptop speakers
there is a huge difference in sound with Creative and without it -
-
Thanks, TheMarkness!
I first tried installing the simple way someone else posted in this thread, but that didn't install with all Creative options. Did it the way the OP suggests and it's working great! No more volume fluctuations, customizable everything, easy to do in under 10 minutes. Also did it on a G50vt I'd purchased at BestBuy 2 years ago. It worked, but volume gain was minimal. Anyone know a fix for that? I searched the G50v thread but couldn't find anything so far. -
how do i enable cmss-3d on games such as call of duty modern warefare 2, nfs hot pursuit, test drive unlimited 2 etc. also thanks for the package 'themarkness' works like a charm. so anyone got any inputs on whats the best settings to use witht his new modified package?
-
Worked great for me, once i figured i had to boot windows into safe mode, clean drivers, run new installs / activation, and reboot. Sounds amazing.
-
my trials almost over, so when its over, I'll compare the xi-fi sound to my old setup and decide if I'll buy it or not. Its not too much anyway.
-
a few days of your trial won't make any difference
i suppose you know how it sound till now -
-
-
Hmm, I'm having issues here. Unfortunantly, I had to reinstall windows. After installing xi-fi again and realtek, I keep getting this message when I try to open the audio control panel, "The audio device supported by this application is not detected."
am I missing something? -
Hello. How do i fix the Easy of Access centre freezing? I have x-fi installed but i don't remember the version of drivers now...
-
Good luck! -
I already uninstalled and reinstalled xi-fi and realtek like 8 times while sometimes using driver cleaner, cc cleaner and sometimes not using it.
Before I reinstlled windows, everything was fine (was using the trial version). What I did was just install it over my previous audgigy version. So was there something from the asus utility cd, or anything from the old creative that I should have? -
Yep.
Proper fresh install sequence:
1) Install stock Realtek
2) Install X-Fi, open app to make sure it's working
3) Uninstall Realtek
4) Install latest Realtek -
:confused2:
To verify what I did:
1 - uninstalled everything (realtek, alchemy, etc, everything).
2 - restarted into safe mode and used CCcleaner untill no more registry entries were picked up, then used driver sweaper.
3 - restarted normally and used CCcleaner again to remove useless dlls, etc.
4 - restarted again normally, inserted the asus disk, clicked on audio. It auto restarted. I confirmed that stock realtek was in my programs, and audio was working.
5 - installed xi-fi 1.1. Was prompted to restart but I hit restart later. Checked to see if creative counsole launcher would start and I got the same error message (missing supported whater).
6 - restarted anyway, still got the same message. So I currently have stock realtek and creative xi-fi.
----------------------
I've also already tried installing latest realtek first, then xi-fi but still got the same message.
I've tried installing both stock audio drivers and creative audigy from the asus disk and I STILL FREAKEN GOT THE SAME MESSAGE!! I'm not sure whats going on. The only conclusion that I came up with is maybe there is some difference between asus's preloaded windows 7 and the universal disk that I used when I reinstalled windows.
But I have no idea why the stock audio/creative is giving me the same message. So what I did was installed the Creative Audigy HD MB Windows 7 Compatibility Update. Restarted, hit fix amd 64 and the old audigy ctrl panel came up but it was missing all the slidders. there was only bass boost and mixer, no equilizer, no eax, no cmss.
at this point, I figured that since the sound blaster audigy came up (though it was missing everything), I updated to lastest realtek and got the message again..... so I did the process all over again. after I installed the compatability update again (but I think this time around I had the latest realtek installed), I decided to do what I did before I did the frest windows install. I kept audigy and just installed xi-fi. restarted, and it was 50% working. at first, I thought xi-fi was completely working (set up my equilzer and bass boost etc) but then I noticed I wasn't hearing any bass. Opened it up again and got the error message again..........
So yea, I'm reall frustrated here, I've been at this for two days.
I found this thread which sounds like the same problem I'm having near the bottom. I honestly don't belive i'm doing anything wrong. they mentioned a patch, would it work? its from the dell site.
Is Soundblaster Xfi MB incompatible w/Win 7? - Microsoft Answers
edit - on pg 2, someonel inked to Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi MB
edit - ok, day 3,
1 - uninstalled everything again, used CCcleaner, and driver sweaper. Checked ctrl panel, c drive, and start menu for any traces of creative or realtek, didn't find anything.
2 - used the asus disk and installed the stock audio (realtek) and stock creative (sound blaster audigy). I get the same message when I try to open it. Since this is happening, its an issue somewhere else. for some reason, audigy and xi-fi aren't picking up a sound device..... -
-
However, I did find out something else.
although I really do like creative xi-fi when using my headphones, I was blind in the fact that stand alone realtek sounds way better then having both realtek and creative installed.
I'll go as far as saying creative sounds like crap compared to stand alone realtek when not using headpones. However, creative can really improve the headphone experience. Stand alone realtek has its own sound effects tab with an equilizer and other environemtal effects. You can also change the voice pitch. No need to have loudness equilizer on in realtek or in the sound options under ctrl panel.
with that said, I still need creative to be working. I spent money on it after all.... hopefully asus finds a solution. -
keep trying girl and don't give up
i don't think traces make it difficult to recognise
i think it is the order you are installing it
an uninstall should give rid off all the registry and program stuff so don't waste time on cleaner or registry cleaners
try every single combination that comes in your mind and you will succeed -
May I ask where can you download the xi-fi from the creative site? I downloaded mine from Chastity's other xi-fi thread. I need to know if u can dl it from creative so I can ask them for help as well.
So far asus is giving me the obvious advices so I'm waiting for them to conclude that something is wrong with the stock audigy blaster. They did mention to try the audigy from their site instead of my disk. I found out that the on on their site is different from the one on my disk. something about SRS features that I never heard of. Either way, those won't even install due to un-compatible SRS audio device.
or maybe it is something with my computer but I highly doubt that. Whatever you guys do, if you like creative, don't get rid of it and make backups. -
Yeah I've seen that SRS thing too. You can uninstall it separately in Programs and Features. It's pretty sad that ASUS doesn't fix that download so people don't get that error on every boot.
Really all you should need to do is
1) remove both Creative and Realtek Audio drivers in Programs and Features.
2) reboot
3) Install Realtek Audio
4) reboot
5) Install Creative Audigy
6) reboot (maybe uninstall useless SRS thing)
done. -
I'm going for Xi-Fi again so I guess I'll do what Chastity suggested. I think I'll:
1 - install stock realtek; reboot
2 - install Xi-Fi; reboot
3 - remove stock realtek; reboot
4 - install latest realtek; reboot
5 - Update to Win7 SP1
Or should I upgrade to SP1 first? I'm thinking I should but I feel like I should keep things as origonal as I can get it. SP1 wasn't out when creative was installed. Also, this time I'm using F9 instead of my disk. Honestly, if it does work, I think creative may not work unless you use F9.
I'm a freaken pro damn it! Its defilently not a mistake on my part. If this doesn't work, time to dump creative and find something else....maybe stick with stand alone realtek. -
i remember a friend of mine doing the same thing like you will
if some program not function like it should he will reinstall OS
i was doing that to but not now
i would spend a lot of time untill i fix it
good luck
try to remove every sound program ... and look deeply , don't forget nerowave, soundtrax if you have nero installed -
nah, don't have nero. I don't have anything really since the os install, just 3ds max and unreal tournament editor so I can finish my homework. I guess I could try uninstalling CCCP and quick time light codacs but I doubt thats it.

You can get Windows 7 ISO with SP1 already integrated. Just do some searching for Windows 7 SP1 MSDN ISO. The MSDN ISOs are originals direct from Microsoft.
However, a stock 7 ISO will only install the edition you choose unless you also remove a file called ei.cfg from it. That's where this utility comes in
winisoutils - Windows ISO Disc Image Utilities -
I know powernotebooks had one for like $15. Reason is because I think the universal windows 7 disk I used erased my recovery partition. I don't see it anywere on Paragon. -
-
Could anyone please help me with this?
I'd really like if someone could shed some light on this issue.
Thanks in advance! -
I'm not seeing the issue... unless its not normal for the x-fi txt there to be... unselectable. does it work?
-
Nope, it doesn't work.
About that, does that button work for you? -
Is it possible to get THX Trustudio Pro working with this drivers?
-
I tried this on my Dell XPS 15 with ALC665 but it says my audio device is not supported.
EDIT: It works however I don't get all functions such as 24 bit crystaliser. -
I can't get it working on my ALC888 on my GX640, unsupported device error. It worked on my last laptop that had realtek hd, but it was a different codec.
-
From a Clean Install of windows.
Installed all the important driver apps from the asus driver cd.
No Creative installed from asus driver cd.
Followed Themarkness instructions to the letter only until the end when i deleted the 3 kga files chastity said are not needed in the License generator folder before running the .bat file in safe mode.
Tried my a$$ off to get it to work..... until the above.... which works like a charm!!!! BOOOOOM!!!! -
sigh... where do I get a free Winrar or zip to open this. I have been using 3.51 rar for years without a problem
-
Im surprised this worked for me :O
-
-
fyi dont install the windows update for silverlight, this conflicts to this software causing my system to freeze when im idle for 3-5 mins.
-
You should be using Realtek's Audio driver + Realtek's ATI HDMI driver (both on the same page)
