Thanks Chastity, it's better now. Just one more thing remains unclear to me. It is whether Creative software supports only the 2.1 speakers, which are in a notebook or it works with HDMI too. I cant change the device to HDMI audio output (and speaker configuration from 2/2.1 to 7.1) in Creative Audio Control Panel and Creative Console Launcher.
-
Use the Windows Audio Application. The Creative app ONLY works with the Realtek Audio drivers.
-
Hi i've just got my laptop and just wondering will i lose out anything significant if i do not use creative drivers and just stick to realteck drivers?
-
The Creative stuff isn't a driver at all. It's middleware that sits atop the Realtek drivers. So no, you will still have all the basic functionality.

Anyone using STEAM with this X-Fi software? I experienced random freeze that needs power off after I installed this X-Fi but solved by uninstalling Microsoft Silverlight. Today I just installed STEAM and I experienced random freeze again even though I did not start STEAM at all. Checked event viewer but nothing comes up.
Any suggestions? -
Update your Realtek audio drivers.
-
Thanks Chas for your input. It's already running the latest R2.59. I wonder if this version and the retail X-Fi version that needs to pay has any difference. To my ear the retail one sounds crispier but may just be placebo effect. Anyway still monitoring the situation and hopefully will not get any more freeze up.
Any suggestions will be welcomed. -
No problem with Steam here, but also running the supplied Audigy Software with my JH.

tried it and can't get it to work ... no device supported
anyone get it working on the G73JH ? (talking about the Alexa's X-FI) -
-
Yeah, I got them (Alexa's) working in my G73... no problem there!
-
there are 2 activation files ...
did you installed it like in the description or else?
which files , links? -
new realtek driver out
-
at first, it also gave the error "the program cannot start because can not found the proper device" even I used the activactor. But when I check the post by Nekki in this thread, I stepped back to the stock realtek driver and update again to the Realtek 2.59 Mod, everything works right now! -
can you provide a link for the stock realtek from the disk ?
i don't have it with me
that is the last thing i didn't tried -
-
-
doesn't work ..... don't bother
i've managed to recognise the x-fi (realtek) and it said that the program doesn't work with it bla bla
with the 1.2 it was recognised as x-fi
with 1.3 it was recognised as x-fi 2
something like that
and it didn't worked both ways -
wheres the link for the 1.3 package?
-
pfff i couldn get to work non of the x-fi packages ...
tried milion times , milion restarts and i would never i mean never try the x-fi package
after all the lost time i have uninstalled everything and installed latest 2.60 realtek HD audio driver and the stock creative
and that went smoothly like butter -
well i am currently using the Creative X-Fi MB for your G73 (Realtek HD 2.48) by the markness and its working fine. i just want the new 1.3 drivers.

TRY READING HIS POST. SERIOUSLY READ THE POST. POST SAYS HE GOT IT FROM THE SAME THREAD, POST 45!
-
man iv been searching for 15 mins now. cant find it. been to post 45 and no luck. tried searching for users with that name no luck. i even tried searching for threads containing that file name no luck.cant you just provide me with a link?
-
Alright let's try and figure out how to problem solve.
1. Read his post. He quoted mita_jan.
2. Read mita_jan's post. He's quoting someone who mentions Alexa.
3. Look for a post mentioning Alexa's posting. Using Control F, this takes mere seconds. Page 26. And behold, even the link to the thread is posted.
4. Go to thread, and look at post 45. Behold there are the links for the 1.3, modded drivers and activator.
- Total time spent: less than 60 seconds.
-
ah i feel so fresh lol. i thought u meant post 45 on this thread haha. yh i found the links. thanks
-
I've installed the 1.3 and modded drivers. I see no benefit to this at all other than it extends my load boot times for Windows
Just more junk running in the background now. Crystallizer sounds fake and the CMSS3D distorts. The bass is meh since the subwoofer on speakers suck and I don't need extra bass on my headphones.
-
people are too lazy these days
they don't read -
-
I would stick to using Alexa's posted MB 1.2 and Realtek setup. Follow the directions and it should work.
I tried the MB 1.3 and it does not work. There is no audio selection for SB MB X-Fi and the CMSS3D doesn't work. But Alexa's MB 1.2 everything is working.
I used Phyxion's Driver Sweeper to clean up Creative and Realtek after uninstalling. And then followed the directions for the install.
Overall it's pretty useless though, just experimenting here. -

btw i think this is the stock realtek Download Asus G73JH Notebook Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.5978 Driver for Windows 7 / Windows 7 x64 - Softpedia
and i have tried it but when i opened creative console and when i went it said to me that the device is not supported by this program so i clicked yes to choose another one and there was only x-fi (realtek audio) is this the one you've got it working with ?
also there were people who can't get it installed after a frech clean reinstall of the windows ...
the best way to get it working i think is this one
1. stock realtek (so it will be recognise by X-fi)
2. creative x-fi
3. activation
4. open it (and if it works then update to 2.59 version or whatever)
but it didn't worked for me
installing first the stock driver and then newer realtek is useless since it is uninstalling first the old one , restarting and then installing the new one so actually you did nothing with that (it is the same as you only installed new realtek)
p.s i don't know if it has something to do with some updates (maybe becouse i've installed creative compatibility update from chastity or someone mentioned openal) -
so, it should be like this:
1. stock realtek (!!!)
2. update to the Mod 2.59 driver version
3. creative x-fi
4. activation
That's what I've done, and it works for me.
btw, after test, i found i got better sound qulity and experience with this MB 1.3 than the 1.2, cann't open CCMS-3D in this 1.3 version though(but can open crystalizer, svm, base, etc..). I will stick to 1.3. -
and the first and second step don't go together (i've explained why) so it would have worked for you without the first step too i think
but then again i may be wrong -
The way I went about it:
1) Uninstall all previous realtek and creative MB s/w and restart. After restart windows will automatically revert to some default audio drivers for realtek.
2) Install the modded drivers, 2.59 and restart
3) Install the 1.2 or 1.3 creative s/w after the new realtek drivers have loaded upon restart.
4) Restart after install and boot to safe mode, activate.
5) Restart again into normal windows. -
I didn't install the stock drivers. Stock drivers have never been on this install of Windows here.
Uninstall previous Realtek. Run Driver Sweeper/CCleaner for Realtek. Reboot. Install Realtek 2.59 Mod. Reboot. Install Creative MB 1.2. Reboot. Run activation. Done. -
yep, it should be like this in theory, but so many others have done all this 1~5, and why they cann't got it worked?

stock drivers are reccomended to try if you can't get it working with the latest realtek
hmm you make me wanna get this thing working
i just hate all those restarts
i am going to try couple more times ...manually deleting all creative and realtek entries and some dlls
glad to see you got it working laptopfan88 but for all of us it is different
i have not installed stock too , just at the end when i was out of ideas
p.s one more thing
i should install 2.59 modded with the 1.2 x-fi or i should go with the newer 2.60
and second thing could you upload the stock realtek just in case -
finally got this thing working (what a nightmare)
i have installed 2.48 mod completely and on top of it i have installed 1.2 creative x-fi then opened the update and updated the creative x-fi and at the end i have installed realtek 2,59 modded drivers and it works
one question or maybe two
what version is your volume panel and the creative console launcher just to be sure i have them updated to latest
and is there any real difference between this package(1.1) and (1.2)
p.s this thread needs to be updated by the administrator with the new modded drivers and new creative X-fi becouse the creator of the post is not active -
-
Just realized that the G73JH doesn't has a stereo jack and I was trying to get the sound of my guitar through the mic jack (just for tuning..), but... I can't get into the recording and the advanced setting in the windows mixer...
When I try to open the "windows recording control control painel" through the program called "AP Tuner" I get a message saying: "unable to launch windows recording control control painel"...
Using the realtek 6.0 (modded?) with X-Fi MB2 (1.3?)...
Any thougts? -
does anyone know if this software works with the G73SW?
