I don't seem to hear much of a difference, but i like creative mediasource player that it downloaded with autoupdate.
Creative Console Launcher 2.61.43
Volume Panel 2.21.13
I prefer 1.2 to 1.3 for now BTW, 1.3 just doesn't sound good and also has most of the options like CMSS disabled.
PS. I see that Alexa has also updated the realtek driver to 2.60 now.
Get it here

thanks man everything is updated and i can tell that there is a big difference from the stock Sound Blaster
lots of options to adjust here
i didn't installed the player since i have other players ... i might uninstall volume panel as well since i can adjust from windows
i am kinda happy
+1rep
p.s changing to headpones the sound sounds like crap .... why?
i remember on my very old asrock motherboard when i changed to headphones gave me a big boost in volume -
-
It could be the headphone setting in creative, which does something funny to the reverb. -
-
Uh...
I think I killed my "subwoofer" after upgrading to the newest Realtek 2.60 and X-fi-1.9...
Tried to reinstall (with driversweep), system restore... And nothing...
Could it be a hardware problem? I opened my machine to do a repaste 3 days ago.
(Oh, and my mic jack is dead too...) -
sounds like an epic fail issue. Open her up and see what you did wrong.
-
Opened it and and hammered the subwoofer/audio jacks...
And the mic jack and the subwoofer are working again
I really don't know why, I even touched this at the first time
Uninstalled all the software again, driver sweeped and reinstalled all again, now I'm getting a message when I try to open the console launcher of the XFi saying: "There are no audio device avaliable. You need to close the application. Click OK to close the application now." -
Uninstall the Realtek audio. Install the stock ones. Make sure Creative is now happy with the hardware. Once done, update the Realtek drivers.
-
Sorry it might seem a silly question, but how do i auto-update my creative software?
-
just run it
have anyone tried the 1.9 package + realtek 2.60 provided on this page
Realtek/Soundmax Modds + SB X-fi MB 1.2 - Page 4 -
Sound seems to be a little more clear but the highs seem to be a little garish at times, lows are the same as 1.2.
It also has EAX 4.0 (along with a desktop gadget depicting the same) which seems to be doing some processing within games.
On the other hand, the SRS effects with that driver is really bad. I am instead using alexa's 2.60 driver with this 1.9. -
Could anyone tell me the difference between the X-Fi software and Creative THX MUI 1.02 from Chastity's thread? Which should I install?
-
bump.
-
I find the THX NB software to be useless.
-
Hi guys! This thread has gone way too big for me to follow, so I'm just looking for quick answers and download links
Which is the best modded Audio option for a guy with an m11x R3? The first post hasn't been updated since Sept. 2010, so I'm guessing there are more updated options available?
-
-
Can I use the above in my G53JW-A1? Will it work without any glitches? -
-
-
The sticker on my laptop says " EAX ADVANCED HD 5.0" and "THX TruStudio". Since the G73s are EAX 4.0, that led to the confusion. Will install it and report.

Did this mod on my M11x now the headphone jack does not show up. Any ideas? Its not under disabled devices either.
-
)
Also, once I download these modded drivers and the SB software, are the audio enhancements immediate? Or are there still profiles/settings I have to fix? Thanks! -
Creative is garbage.
With that said, who wants my genuine license for xi-fi? I'll pm the first person that replys to me first. It should work unless they have that retarded rule about once installed on one computer, it can't work on another. -
SO you guys are saying that I should uninstall THX Tru Studio as it is garbage and although I have Realtek HD 2.60 drivers, i should download the modified ones for better performance?
-
I should be able to use it on my m11x right? With the modded drivers?
And bumping for my questions in the last post, I guess -
I've just done this sucessfully on my M11x R3....nice one
Did crap it a little allowing the 'virus' to be extracted though -
I used laptop today and have no sound....the Creative software still launches but I have no sound....any suggestions?
-
Search for 'Manage audio devices' in the Start menu. Check which one is selected as the current and perform the Test to see if it's working.
-
I'm trying to remove all now, what is the best process?
Do Uninstall Programs in safe mode, reboot and then run Driver Sweeper?
I borrowed a friends X-Fi go and the laptop won't see the hardware....I think something from the hack is stopping it.
Right I've sorted it...all good thanks -
OK i'm stumped: do you uninstall X-FI MB 1.1 and then fresh install X-FI MB 1.2 or just run the 1.2 installer and let it update the 1.1 version already installed? any help is appreciated... TIA
-
does this mod apply to g74sx too? tnks!
-
this mod works on my Acer aspire 4736G.... thanks!!
-
I did a clean install yesterday and decided to to go with x-fi mb instead of audigy. It all went well and the license to my surprise was only 9.95$. But I forgot to uninstall x-fi mb 1.1 before installing 1.2 and now auto update shows 2 products, sb x-fi mb and soundblaster ready x-fi mb or slt.
Question is, does this have any negative effects? It all works well and sound is noticeably better than before. And should go beyond mb 1.2 ? I'm using realtek 2.60 based drivers now.
The machine: G73JH 820QM -
It shouldn't be hard to uninstall both, and then install the current version.
-
No it wouldn't, I just thought of the old saying; "If it works, don't fix it."
-

After failing to install x-fi mod driver fewt times, I stumbled upon modded realtek 2.62 mod driver while googling, and it works fine on my G74Sx-BBK7.
x-fi2-realtek 262-mod.rar
The file includes instruction, activation file, realtek 2.62 modded drive and X-fi driver. Included X-Fi driver failed to install in middle way so I had to use one I downloaded from Sarge's G73SW and G53SW: Latest drivers and everything you need for a fresh install thread.
X-Fi MB2 modded (2.1)
While I can't really prove validity of Realtek 2.62 mod driver, it just works. And that's what counts... -
Thanks OP, after stumbling on this thread I tried the drivers despite not getting the X-Fi option when buying the M14x and these work fantastic! Sound quality is greatly improved, I've always liked X-Fi hardware, but the software emulation and such as just as good in my opinion. I can't notice the hissing/crackling background noise (very faint though) that I used to get either, for the moment.

I've spent a good part of 2 days looking through this forum and others at notebookreview... and tried to make sense of what is the best setup to have in terms of drivers for audio and perhaps graphics.
I currently have a G73JH with v213 BIOS running Win7 Home Premium X64. I've owned this laptop since May 2011.
The main problems I've been experiencing are random freezes - and no event logs records the actual problem. Sometimes, I can pull the power cord out of the laptop and it will turn off (while battery is connected).. and sometimes to ensure it boots up correctly, I removed the ac power and the battery... press the power button to discharge any power, and insert battery and ac adaptor, boot up and we are fine again.. until it randomly happens again. Very frustrating indeed.
The other issue is I experience is when using the laptop to watch movies on the my TV - I connect the G73JH to my TV using HDMI. Sometimes if it sits there, and the screen would go off... and you try to wake it up.. you can't ... doesnt matter whether you remove the HDMI... or do anything.. once again.. must reboot.. remove battery and ac adaptor... blah blah... Yes, I have adjusted my power management settings accordingly.. and no it doesn't go into sleep mode, or hibernation mode... cause I have adjusted so it never does while AC power is connected.
If I remove all the creative software.. cause personally I dont care about EAX functionality.. as I dont really play games.. I do video editing mostly. But if I remove the all the audio drivers and just install the Realtek HD drivers... and the Realtek ATI drivers... I dont get sound coming through HDMI. I've seen all these posts with modded audio drivers... and not sure I need that.. cause I don't care for the few extras you get. I just want sound that works, and want no hassles when using my laptop when its connected to a screen via HDMI.
My question is, what can someone suggest in terms of audio drivers? Do I really need the creative crap on my G73JH? If not, what package do I use to have decent sound that is going to work with HDMI? I recently removed all audio and installed Realtek R266 and Realtek HDMI (ATI) R264 - but found I get no sound coming through on HDMI.
Also.. if the freezes with HDMI relate to the Asus ATI driver... should I update the latest from the ATI website for the HD5870?
Sorry if this has been answer previously... but I did attempt to search and read as much as I can.. but I don't have time to go through every single page of every forum relating to this device. I see that Chastity seems to have good knowledge of all this.. and has some drivers etc that are posted on an external site.. which have been helpful.. but some links on that page are no longer valid... for example the "Creative Audigy HD MB Windows 7 Compatibility Update" is not available... and some at the beginning of this thread are not valid also... so I am stuck... where to go.. what to do... some friendly and knowledgeable advice would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end on these issues that have plagued me since owning this laptop since May this year. -
Best setup I've found is to run vBios OD2 on the ATI 5870, with the latest 11.10 drivers from AMD.
For audio, the latest drivers from Realtek work fine for both the HDMI and the sound card drivers, but I have an updated post on how to make the latest SB X-fi audio work with the G73JH if you search back a few forum pages.
My post also links to an updated/modified Realtek driver that will provide some additional audio controls to the base Realtek driver. I also provide the X-fi MB2 software along with instructions on how to get it running right with Windows 7 x64.
I've been running with this setup for a while now without issues, so I know that the driver sets all work perfectly fine.
If you are having unexplainable freezing, it might be worthwhile for you to do a fresh Windows 7 installation and then update all of your drivers from scratch without installing any of the ASUS bloatware that's not needed. I personally prefer to do things that way because then I know I have all of the newest drivers and nothing I don't want installed.
In any case, I personally have had no issues running the latest Realtek drivers or the Realtek modded drivers and the Creative X-fi MB 1 or X-fi MB 2 software suites. -

Hi all,
New (-ish) G73SW-3DE user here. Thanks for the great thread and all of the info.
It's been touched on in a few spots, but I need more direction ... is there any way possible (without the external USB Audigy devices) to enable the Dolby Digital Live/DTS Connect support on my internal Realtek chip?
From what I understand, Asus didn't pay for the SRS(?) license, so DDL/DTS Connect is unavailable by default - but is physically possible on the chip - but is locked out due to software.
Will installing the X-Fi MB pack allow for installation and USE of the Dolby Digital Live/DTS Connect pack from Creative? If I use the X-Fi MB pack and pay Creative for the DDL license, will it work then?
Can anybody point me in the right direction to find a "new" modded driver or some such to accomplish this?
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that my PS3 will output better sound in games (I use toslink>JVC SU-DH1>AD700s) than my
$2k gaming laptop.
Thanks for any and all help!
Cheers,
LK
EDIT: Anybody use the Asus Xonar stuff? I assume that would make my JVC SU-DH1 useless/redundant, if I got one (xonar)
EDIT2: Why can't I use this in conjunction with the X-Fi pack: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=66919 (it says it will unlock DDL on all X-Fi cards) -
I have a Dell XPS 15 (L502x), which has the standard realtek alc665
And i seem to have misplaced the disc having the soundblaster x-fi mb 1.2
Ive asked dell to send me a new disc, but its going to take a while, and i cant find a way to download the software & their drivers from the dell website ... (if anyone knows how to download the soundblaster from the dell website, thats problem solved for me right here)

All right after reading through 30+ pages i am thoroughly confused

[I realize I am posting in the Asus section, but im here because "ADDITIONAL NOTE 2: These drivers/x-fi mb will work on any Realtek HD equipped laptop (g51/53, m15x/m17x, etc.)"] -
