I told quad it was HIDEOUS! lol

But, he also said the screen was fantastic, system is light, and runs cool.

Gotta try it to believe it ;)

Guess my A2 was a real bargain then ;)... in reality though it was without even comparing it to the Newegg model...

Hopefully you guys can find the HD brackets elsewhere for cheap because i think Asus charges a decent amount for them ....

Looks like the ASUS G73JH-A1 with Blu-Ray drive is cheapest for pre-order on ProVantage. That what others are seeing too, or did I miss a site?

Just tried the AW HD cage and its just a tad to big... You might be able to shave off a little bit of it and shoe horn it in though :).... The secondary HD cage on the AW has the metal where the interposer fits in... Might be worth the effort Vs paying for one...

I don't blame you. I would actually think waiting until they release a newer version with the 5870's in xfire would be a better bet, but to each their own. I think the only thing you'll be seriously missing is the RGB LED... I don't think you will be losing too many frames by having the 5870 as opposed to the 4870's x-fired.

    1. How can you tell how many are left.

    2. Can anyone confirm that it does come with only 1 500GB HDD and an empty HDD bay and everything needed to install a 2nd drive.

    3. Lastly I don't see a difference in warranty between this and the A2 on Newegg.

    Thanks

    1. Add 100 to your cart and it will adjust to whatever is left.
    2. Cofirmed. 1 500gb hdd with no bracket assembly for the empty bay.
    3. Confirmed. Both have 2 year Asus warranty.

I've never installed a new hard drive for a laptop before and I don't quite plan to right away but for future reference can you buy a compatible hd bracket for the empty bay or do laptop hd's come with one? Also it doesn't void the warranty does it?

Its probably a pre-order. I checked these before ordering my X-1.

They all say available Friday or next week, but if you read the fine print it says they have a right to change delivery at any time and they take your money immediately.

Major-Grats if you have the tracking number showing the item has left on an airplane to your house already though I would be surprised if you do.

Yesterday there were only pre-orders on Ebay, and you don't even get the factory ASUS warranty because they are not authorized dealers.

Man a lot of people seem mad at NewEgg for the good deal they offered. Now it's getting close to A1 prices but still, if you jumped on the deal early with a Bing cashback in there you just saved a bunch of money for the same laptop.

Here's some info on the Atheros AR9286 wireless card.

    http://atheros.com/pt/bulletins/AR9285Bulletin.pdf

Summary: Budget card, max 150mbps, single band (2.4Ghz)

Given those numbers, I'm definately going to upgrade to an intel 5100/5300 if that's what comes in my X1.

    Hope this helps.

    We try to help everyone.

That said, it seems that while Asus is saying that there's a 1 year warranty on the X1 units, the units have a 2 year warranty on them. Would think that the claim on the unit supersedes Asus' claim?

Read the main G73 thread. Many people have. They have also already put up impressions, game benches, and reviews. Vicious' ultimate review should be up before the end of the week in the owner's lounge! Keep your eye on that.

I ordered from Newegg late yesterday and didn't pay the rush charge (doh!). My status still says "charged" both for the laptop order and the seperate order of the SSD. I keep refreshing, but alas, no change to either order.

Did anyone who ordered yesterday have a status change from "charged" sometime today?

I did the rush, and already received my laptop. Ordered around 12pm- honestly it was about whenever Justin came by and broke the bad news about the delays. I knew at that point they'd go fast.

I still haven't received my spare HD though- it's being shipped separately. Don't have a caddy solution for it yet anyway.
