G73SW and G53SW: Latest drivers and everything you need for a fresh install.

You need a modified inf for the driver since our hardware id is not listed in the verde notebook driver set.
You can find the modified inf over laptopvideo2go.
Extract the nvidia driver the overwrite the file in the Display.Display folder.

 

Would you happen to have the exact link? I am only finding 270.45 driver version /inf file matching a GTX460M

The NVidia Verde driver installs perfectly fine for me. Is your laptop the Best Buy version?

 

Mine isnt,still the dev id is missing from verde set.

Just to add if your adding a sata 3 drive, don't install the Intel RST drivers. They will keep your drive in Sata II mode. Instead install the mircosoft achi driver in IDE controllers. I had a mission trying to get my ocz vertex to stay in sata III mode and in the end it was the intel rapid storage driver.

 

Does modded verde drivers give better fps?

 

That depends on the driver itself. The modded part is just the inf needed to install a particula card not supported by the driver.
Usually newer drivers are better than older ones for various reasons, so a modded inf helps installing those on the gpus not supported by the set itself.

 

Im not tech savy in the slightest, is it possible for me to do this, i am ordering a G73SW A1 and looking to get the most out of it.

 

Simple guide for installing NVIDIA drivers:

Run the installer, and select Custom install. Then select the tick box for "Doing a Clean Install". Then follow the prompts and reboot when requested. This will first uninstall the old drivers, reboot, then install the new ones.

 

Any idea how I install the newest Nvidia drivers? It just continues to tell me that it cannot find any compatible hardware. I installed the ones off of the Asus G53SW website and before the fresh install I just put the inf file off of laptopideo2go in the display.display folder but that no longer exists under the C:// after I did a full format and re install of everything. Any ideas?

I just recently did a full reinstall but now I dont have the option for the computer to just sleep rather then hibernate. What am I missing?

What? The computer hibernates when I close the lid but I cant select the option for it to just sleep.

 

What options do you have -- do nothing, hibernate and shutdown?
If that is the case try a differnet power plan or reinstall power - 4 - gear

Just follow the instructions. Some people were failing because some tard left some files that should have been deleted before making the zip, and it was mucking up the activator. I just cleaned up the installer so it will work properly.

 

What are these hotfixes for? I have a G53JW. Do I need to install these hotfixes? I have Windows 7 without service pack one installed BTW.

 

Hello, I ordered G73SW-A1 Laptop and am planning to do a clean install once I get it so first of all thank you for this great thread, very useful and time saving. I do have a few questions I hope someone can answer for me please:

1) I will be using a Windows 7 *WITH* SP1 already integrated so would I still need to install the 6 Hotfixes mentioned in the first post or are they already included in SP1?

2) I have asked to upgrade to the Intel Advanced-N 6200 wireless card - the drivers I downloaded from the link don't include the Bluetooth too, right? I should install both the intel drivers as well as the bluetooth driver [from Asus site], right? just need to make sure

3) I downloaded the RealTek Audio driver from the first option - What about the Creative THX_MUI driver on Asus site, don't I also need to install this in addition? I want the best possible audio sound and volume and not sure if THX is needed.

Does anyone experience 3D Vision settings reset?
Everytime I reboot I have to go Stereoscopic 3D settings and set display type from "3D Vision Discover" to "ASUS 3D Vision Laptop", otherwise I see 3D picture with red/cyan colors for anaglyph. Not for 3D shutter glasses.
Tried running wizard, still it resets settings upon rebooting.

I would try resetting to defaults, and then rerun the Wizard

Guys, This is very helpful, however I must be some kind of an Idiot...

I have g53SW 500 GB 8 GB RAM no dual drive

I have a Windows 7 ultimate ISO which I burned (it was downloaded from MSDN developer portal), I downloaded each of the drivers You have been talking about (including a chipset and a RST). I create a bootable USB drive with the PowerISO....
I try to install. Everything goes smoothly until.... THE big annoying window pops up and win7 tells me "a required CD.DVD drive device driver is missing which is required for install.

AND I can even browse the CD for IT. ???
Being a windows guy I google, and reasearch and all I can find is that my ISO does not have required drivers for SATA 64 bit that comes with this notebook. I downloaded all the drivers and tried installing them one by one, i tried the CD that comes with the laptop and ... NOTHING works. It frustrates the hell out of me as I should be able to install the system on my own.

Any of You guys know how to install the correct driver AND where to find it?

You may have had an error with the download, and that file info is corrupted. You'll need to download a new ISO image, and if it has checksum info, use that to insure it downloaded correctly.

 

I have the same problem with the download I made beofere and the download I made today. Have any one of You had the same problem before. Can this issue be bios related (should I update bios before doing the clean install). Should I install this thing from CD/DVD rahter than from the USB driver.??? Does anyone has a clue why is this happening?

I'm unable to get X-Fi 2.1 to work properly on my system. It says there's no supported device.

Also, the link for the activator does not work.

Unless I'm just totally off base, the NVidia drivers don't load correctly unless you use a modified inf file, that might need to be added to the guide as it had me stumped for a bit.

No problem at all about the nvidia here ( I use the latest beta driver 285.xx)

and the x-fi don't work for us so not included in the pack, include the lattest realtedk driver witch is a most have. Just waiting ....

Hey Guys,

I'm experiencing a recurring and rather embarrassing problem with my Synaptics Touchpad Driver on my G73SW-A1 (Win-7 x64)

Every single time I boot my notebook, the Synaptics driver just never starts; I am required to navigate to c:/Program Files/Synaptics/SynTph and d-click the SynTPEnh.exe afterwhich all is dandy... (SynHelp also then runs.)
I've installed/uninstalled a few times, tried three up-to-date versions (currently downloading v15.3.6.0). Am I perhaps required to install the driver prior to another driver?

Other than that, this sweetypi of mine is absolutely perfect, lightning fast and cool, though typing is a b*tch with the moving cursor.

Hope someone knows a solution

Well uninstalling/reinstalling should resolve any msconfig startup issues, but you might double check just to be sure.

Have you tried simply dropping it in the All Programs -> Startup folder in the start menu? That should prevent you from manually starting it anyway.

 

Hey iutbf, I'm gonna check out msconfig again and see if Startup will do the trick, as well

 

Well, I'v installed the 285.26 drivers, good performance, was 25FPS on GTA IV, and now 28FPS.

I tried to update my Nvidia 1/28/2011 ... version 8.17.12.6686 with 280.38 and it say Nvidia cannot continue, this graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware my notebook come from Amazon
