Can you upload that as a torrent please? My internet connection is so slow that it cannot be called broadband. It'll take ages for me and many tries before I'll be able to download it completely and i don't even have one day to spend at home (no broadband connection in school, only my mobile internet connection). Torrent is easier to download from, for me...

I have a WindowsImageBackup witch i have made for the g73sw users. its 5.63 GB compressed. It can be used with the official windows 7 backup recovery under:

    windows square
    control panel
    back up your computer
recover system settings or your computer
    advanced recovery methods
    use a system image
    skip
    restart

    or

you press f8 when your computer boot before the windows logo
    press enter on repair

    or

    windows square
    control panel
    back up your computer
    create a system repair disc
use it to boot your computer
press f8 or esc before the windows logo

Then its can be used in all cases and all freewares have all the languages.
And you don't have to burn any disc, the image can be on a USB drive connected to a USB 2.0 port!!!
Its 16 Gb uncompressed so the hard drive need to be NTFS file system.
Its run at 50 processes !!! and everything work, you will just need to install the Bluetooth driver if you have bluetooth.
you will need to uninstall the intel wireless driver if you have the poor wireless realtek and install the realtek wireless driver.

this looks awesome! Just ordered a g53sw-xt1. Should following everything in this guide be the first thing I do once I receive my new laptop?

Also, the hot fixes in step 1 mention the g73, should I also dl them for the g53?

Sorry for the questions, but is reformatting the laptop as simple as booting from the windows iso?

Just realized the laptop I bought is the g53sx-xt1, not the SW. Guessing these drivers won't work w/ my laptop.

I recently bought a refurbished G73SW from Newegg and I'm wanting to do a fresh install. It came with Win7 64-bit and in three partitions: a 17GB untitled partition which I assume is the ASUS recover partition, a 175GB OS (C: ) partitition, and a 507GB Data (D: ) partition. They are all formatted in NTFS. Here's a screenshot:

The computer didn't come with any recovery DVDs but it does have a product key so I assume I can do something like this thread describes: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html

Anyway, I'm not really sure how to go about formatting the drives or pretty much anything else in your "Preamble". Any help/walkthroughs would be nice. Thanks.

Thanks! After looking at that thread and a few others, it looks like a clean install is a good bit harder and complicated without the driver and recovery discs. I think I might just settle for uninstalling bloatware and updating drivers unless there's a pretty good reason to do a complete reinstall.

Creative isn't working for me, even with the fixed drivers. That patcher worked for my JH, but it fails every time I try to run it on this SW. It comes up saying it's blocked and to press any key to cancel.

I've also tried the THX driver on Asus' site, but naturally that doesn't work either. Am I missing something here?

Yep. I tried running it in standard Windows, and safe mode, administrator and non-administrator. I even uninstalled Security Essentials. I uninstalled all sound related drivers and ran driver sweeper, before attempting any of this. (This is on a fresh install of Windows.)

I ended up settling on this, and it works perfectly: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/617424-creative-x-fi-mb-2-your-g73-realtek-hd-2-62-a.html

with my g73sw those modded sound driver hack do not work...

the chip Realtek ALC269 @ Intel Cougar Point PCH - High Definition Audio Controller [B-3] PCI

those mod seem to work only for those:
    ALC880, ALC882, ALC883, ALC885, ALC887, ALC888, ALC889, ALC892, ALC861VC, ALC861VD.
    ALC660, ALC662, ALC663, ALC665, ALC680.
    ALC260, ALC262, ALC267, ALC268, ALC270, ALC272, ALC273, ALC670, ALC275.

    here is a good site:
    Google Traduction

    the dev site:
    Google Traduction

only the 2.65 mod work for me but THX PRO seem to not work but some dev say this work same if i have the message 'no supported hardware supported'
but i have new nice settings :)

    SRS - Sonic Focus * - Dolby - DTS * - X-Fi MB (EAX * * - CMSS3D - Crystalizer - SVM - EQ) - THX ProStudio * *, ETC.

    Win7 x64 Realtek 2.65 MOD [v2.0].

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

but his newer crash for me:

    Win7 x64 Realtek 2.66 MOD [v2.1].

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

can't wait to see is futur mod of the R267 i hope its will work flawless with the ALC269, maybe its my hardware. Can you explain me Chastity.

You don't actually need modded drivers with the version of X-Fi I provided. You can just use the latest official drivers.

    Hi guys,

I'm using the R2.67 drivers from realtek, and the creative file listed here...

    6. Open the Creative Audio Control Panel. At the top of the window, Select device: Sound Blaster X-Fi MB 2. Click Close.
    7. Open the Creative Console Launcher. Click the blue note icon to the left of "ENTERTAINMENT MODE". Click 'Select audio device...'. Select Sound Blaster X-Fi MB 2.
    8. Use the Creative Console Launcher to configure the settings to your liking.

The settings at step 6 were not holding. I saw a few other people have posted on this, but I didn't find any help for it.

    This is a fresh W7x64 install on a G73SW-3DE.

I have wiped our both the realtek drivers and creative and it's little .kga files and tried all over again... I can't get it working.
I originally tried this, and then some other older versions. When I first installed I kept getting an error... removed everything and tried again with the older.... no error, no sound. Removed all again and went back to what the sarge listed here. No error, got sound, but no creative listings. IE I only get the left/right mix adjustment... no basss/woofer etc.

EDIT: I also cannot install the Intel Rapid storage (IRST) driver... Fixed it. The machine was set in bios to IDE control.

Like my computer would just freeze and i wouldn't be able to do anything , cant type nor move the mouse.

I just reformatted yesterday and it seems to working fine for now..

This would happen when im watching shows and playing games.

The only problem i am having now is with the wifi , easily losing connection and doesnt connect properly while my other computers are fine.

I am running the latest driver.

Now i see one white pixel..

Didnt notice it before because i never took off that screen cover thing when i first got my laptop ..

Going to RMA my laptop for sure now.

There were some requests for working Creative Drivers for G73SW.

Dont know if someone else need it, but since megaupload links no longer available - here it is.

    XMB2-allsoundcard.rar

P.S.: The archive dated as 15-August-2011. I dont know where I got it from, here or any other forum and who did it.
Probably here because the filename matches the one I got.
    link

It worked for me that August so I kept it for the next time I decide to do a fresh Win7 install.

    Hello

I just reformatted my G73sw and started installing the drivers when I came across an error. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver kept crashing so I tried to reinstall it. Now it doesn't install at all, I get an error message saying: "The setup program failed to install one or more devices drivers. Setup will now exit." And the installer exits.

Does anyone here know what could be the problem?

Here is an screenshot of the error:

    Thanks

I have the same problem as listed above, I believe it has something to do with the new chipset INF's but I'm not sure, also can anybody post the x-fi 2.1 pack on a new site.

You will have to download the files for F6 Install from Intel's website. Once that is done, extract them. After that you'll have to go into device manager, open the drop down menu for IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. From there right click on Intel series 6 Chipset (or something similar). Choose update driver software, click on the browser my computer option and go select the folder that you just extracted. Let windows work it's magic, restart. IRST should now install properly.

I dont know what you mean by F6, but I think your saying to download the zip packed drivers and perform a manual driver update? Correct? Okay I will try that also is the XMB2-allsoundcards posted above the right one or is there a newer one.

Uhh but do I have to do the diskette install seeing as it doesn't have a floppy drive or a RAID setup, it worked fine when I did a fresh install with the older drivers (Pre September) it seems that these new drivers dislike the RST software for some reason on the g73.

    Should I have installed
    This
    or
    This
As I installed the second one when it should of been the first I suspect or are they roughly the same?

You only need to extract and install via device manager like i described in my earlier post.

First, regarding RST, sometimes when i do a chipset driver update, i need to reinstall RST altogether, F6 install files and the RST software.

Secondly, you are stuck using the GTX460m card for now, well there was someone who attempted a bios mod, but haven't heard from him in a while.
