The full version no not on paper and not overclocked the stats are a lot higher on the full 560M 192bit than the 5870M overclocked, but the 5870M competes very well and can be pushed to be on par with it.
Hmmmmm that is not entirely truethe stock way is to clock all 4 cores upto 3.2ghz maybe, but the notebookreviewer way is to have them running upto 3.8-4.0ghz.
Yeah +1 Glenn for doing the same thing I did when I first came here ahahahaha! Poor Old Mr Groceries has to amend all that![]()
I think its slightly unfair for the JH owners to gang up on the G74 owners and I am trying to put my bias views aside. But the fact remains if you make the effort and are happy to pretty much do all the jobs the techs paid 100k a year to do didn't bother doing you will be rewarded.
I will happily agree the G74 is a good model (not great) but good for the price its on the market for and the Tiger deal is smoking but in relation to the BBK models I remain as furious as I was with the BST models and I will dedicate my life to prevent people buying them if they intend to game. Ignorance maybe bliss when it comes to buying a gaming notebook the BB models are not the way to go the only model that was acceptable was the JH version of BB because it was not gimped in the GPU section, or you can just ignore me and buy one, ignore me yes but dont buy one you will suffer when it comes to the big titles approaching.

well, to each there own. i have had the g73jh, and now i have the g74sx and i like this g74sx alot. i bought that g73 in last jan, ever sence then it keeped on eating some how 4 -hard drives, and nobody could figure out what waz up with the mouse pad and key pad. it waz not just me, there have been alot out there with the same problems.i cant complain so fare on this, but of corse i have only had this g74sx for like a week. the only thing i really dont like about this g74sx is the sound volume is way to low, even when all is at 100% volume.
-
But buying one from quarter 3 2010 onwards or at least holding on until then to pick up all the fixes and u are rewarded with performance, also on the bonus side for us JH owners did not want to fix them and decided to sell them for next to nothing and that is how I came about mine, I happily took it off his hands for the price of a small goat. -

lol, lol, we are all on the same team here guys, lol, we all own a "ASUS", its not like we have a ford, lol.
-
The 560M also overclocks very well and this is where it will beat the 5870M as below on paper it wins, but not by much and not enough for Asus to call it an upgrade and certainly not when it comes to the BBK7 models because the 5870M wins hands down.
-
o-and BEST BUY dont sell the g73jh anymore cuz its replacment is the "g74sx bbk7, so i geuss if anyone wanted a g73jh the would have to go on criags list, or e-bay,lol. i bet you can get then really cheap now, lol. -
Also a little hint for you as I dont want you to get in trouble for double posting.
When quoting you can select Multi Quote this will highlight the multi quote button on that post, you can do this to as many posts as you like as I have done on the last page, when you have selected all of the posts that you wish to quote in regards to then just select quote on the last post and it will allow you to reply to all of the quotes selected in the same message preventing multiple messages clogging up the forum.
If you need to add a quote you can just copy and paste it from the quote screen and select edit on your post and paste it in so you can add a reply.

Do this and then put forward you argument because comparing a game which is optimised differently for ATI and Nvidia is not a good argument to say the 5870M is better because in other games it is not. Brink for instance.
You are also trying to correct someone who is ATI through and through and loves the 5870M I would not even consider the 560M full version of not, don't get me wrong I agree the 5870M is a better deal but if we all just spouted our opinions without any solid evidence to back it up we would be nothing more than politicians and every user on this forum would have the gimped GPU. Stock results so far have shown in benchmarks the 192bit 560M GTX wins by a very small margin at stock.
Seeing as you are one of the few who has a 5870M with a sandy bridge it would be very beneficial for you to run some stock comparison results,
I may even be wrong. We can all hope can't we ATI users -
i just wish i knew why "asus" has a non working (eq) in THX TRU STUDIO. and the sound is not that loud. and yes i knould now i have the "gimped g74sx,lol. like i have said in the best, it sounds like its only about 25 to 50% of volume. atlest the g73jh had a great sound coming out of it. that i can honestly say i missed about the g73jh.

and Stock CPU and GPU(5870 look HwInfo max clocks) http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...f2-barebone-review-3dmark-2011-5870-stock.jpg
Hope it helps to resolve all confusions
IMO Next pgrade for me is Mobility 6970 -
you are so like me its quite refreshing.
We both know the ATI wins when it comes to 3DMark11 because its DX11 performance is better.
3DMark06 and Vantage before you can claim this discussion is resolvedAll clocks must be at stock and CPU's running the same performance.

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Dallers and Tim, for the sake of argument you should compare those games that doesn't prefer or are optimized for certain brand.
Afaik dirt series since the very first title is Amd optimized. It's like comparing HAWX 2 performance in dx11 with nvidia against ATI.
Just my 2 cents.
Also greenteam vs redteam is a never-ending battle, because clearly Dallers is a die hard ATI fan much like I am for nvidia.
Just be happy of your machine and refrain always to say "this is better than yours" (I'm talking in general, not referring to you two).
It's vital to show proofs to those unfamiliar on the matter or those that haven't decided yet, otherwise we can end up trolling in no time if it's not backed up enough.
Again, my 2 cents, I'm not criticizing anyone, just expressing my opinion.
IMHO the hd5870m still a great card, for me the only two things as "cons" are dx11 features engine that are a bit weak compared to nvidia engine, and the fact that is still a precedent generation card.
The pros is that is still a tier 1 gaming card, it has good room for overclock and raw power is amazing.
Maybe on the long stretch the newer gtx560m will win in the future, maybe. -

call me dumb but what is " GREEN TEAM/RED TEAM"?,LOL,LOL... i am a newbee here so give me a break,lol,lol...
-
. But I must admit that you are right. Green vs Reds is never ending competition. I just wanted to show, that SandyBridge is nice platform for ATI 5870M.
-
Intel are somewhere counting their pennies and not getting involed because they dont need to at the moment but it is a never ending argument between the two graphical processing unit production teams and the people that buy them as to what is better, what works better, etc etc etc
The problem being that as the architectures are different and the features and facilities that each company bring to the table it becomes near impossible to compare the cards, however ATI bring a card out and claim it is 20% better than Nvidia's best and then Nvidia turn round and bring out something which competes and vice versa.
The only way in which you can shed some light is by looking at the card properties on paper and benchmarking them as fairly as possible to show some some kind of proof as to what will perform better, then you face the problem that games/software are then optimised to a certain engine be it ATI or Nvidia so again the argument starts again from scratch. The 560M and 5870M difference is so minimal that the only argument is that the 5870M was released in Jan 2010 and still manages to hold its ground so why does the 560M model cost more for no more power.
The same happens between desktop owners and it will continue until the world is destroyed from Nuclear war or the sun explodes. Either way you are either green or red -
ok i get it now, i waz haveing a blonde moment, lol, lol.
