What does Creative MB do that is so much better? Is there an improvement in sound quality? I see the G73jw is THX certified. Does the G73jh have the same chips?

I'm very interested in the people who voted for the bottom answer xD

This thread is not about whether one sound technology is better than another. I had to delete a number of trolling posts -- I don't want to delete any more.

Doesn't matter to me as every game out there have their own audio engines, I have no use for Creative X-Fi MB. I've never gamed and thought, man I wish I had EAX, CMSS-3D. Not ever. So yes I voted I'm satisfied with current support as I don't even see why Asus wastes time on it to begin with.
-
we have the same hardware but asus g73jw is better supported. -
2) I actually play some games (ex: NeverWinter Nights 2) that audibly benefit from EAX support. Some older games actually do use EAX, ziddy123. Seeing how the G73JH is sold as a gaming rig, I would like the option to have the support and feature set the software offers. And that is what this is about:
Having a choice that is supported and compatible with our laptop.
So, no, I don't agree that Asus is wasting their time on adding the Creative support.
PS: @ziddy123: Do you need to have so much venom in your posts? -
Mine has a sticker on it that says it supports EAX.
I paid for that sticker.
It should work.
...and I agree that Rome Total War, for example, is better with EAX. (yes, old, but still great to play) -
-
-
Ziddy123 should put this in his sig! -
for once i think ziddy was real stupid to vote against it.
-
Uhm, guys, it's ok to vote No. I was more interested to get a feel of how others felt.

Is the difference in SQ for FPS substantial enough to go through the mod created by The Markness if they don't honor the petition, or until they do?

I don't even care about EAX, I'd *KILL* for crystalizer support. . . the difference between my realtek and my X-fi [on my desktop] is so night and day it's unbelievable. Unfortunately, the "unsupported" mod didn't work [kept getting error message saying my sound device wasn't supported] but I'm hopeful that this will eventually get pushed through [and that it'll actually unlock crystalizer, of course
]
I'm surprised though, that anyone would complain or turn down additional features. Even if you aren't going to use them yourself, it never hurts to be able to cite extra features in the event you ever decide to part with your machine. -
Gary emailed me, and let me know that he went ahead and requested HQ to file for a license for X-Fi MB2. Just awaiting for that to go through.
-
the rest is just wait for the future MB2 license release. -
Anyway, looking forward for asus hq accept our preys. -
Nekki Two Finger scroll with current Synapics works, I use it all the time. And the zoom in, zoom out and rotate work as well.
-
Bump to top for better sound.

Nice! Looking forward to the release. Thanks for your tenacity, Chastity.

I'm waiting for this update too
-
I'm still listening as well! (not as well as with the Creative update, but you know what I mean ;-) )
-
Yeah, it would be nice to get this upgrade!
I'll keep checking back to see where we stand on this. -

I find it shameful that Creative didn't bother to make drivers for their 2 old soundcard for Vista and Microsoft had to do it for them :|
-
Nothing Creative does surprises me. I do not go out and buy there audio cards anymore for desktop gaming machines. I have just had to many issues with them in the last few years.
And to think they where the top of the line back when. I wonder what happened to cause them to fall to what they are now? -
-
I wonder if this will take as long as the new "unofficial" vBIOS took :|
-
As we are talking about business and not hobby here, yeah I guess it will take at least as long as the vBios. Don't forget that the vBios was an internal change while Creative one is an external change. This usually takes 2-4 times longer.
Just my personal expirience with dealing with companies. -
-
We can wait for a free upgrade yey...
-
What I find strange from Creative is that gamers drive the computer world , one would think that they would want to keep the gamers happy as they are the ones who take the time to talk up products and how they work. And when a company lets gamers down and does not seem to care about there products then there sales go down.
It's not like we are asking for them to supply us with the latest and greatest , we are asking for a working model that works as it is supposed to . Not something that does not work as rated and causes all who use it to pull there hair out.
I went to the Creative forums and read what was there. Wow I could not believe what has been posted . It seems most if not all of there products are not working as stated in the latest Windows Op system.
Head phones that do not work or are dropping out when used. And there are no answers from anyone in there tech department on how to fix the issues with there products or where to go to get it fixed.
Just users trying to help others find a fix.
To me this does not bode well for the Creative name and product. And it is a shame as a few years back they had the top slot and where doing a great job of keeping there product working.
Guess it is just a sign of the times where a lot of company's are trying to cut cost anyway they can, even at there own demise . -
after this upgrade i can't use creative suite?
maybe another reason for waiting new creative mb2 -
-
You know there are a few companies that are going to kill there own company by the actions they are taking.
I have come to the point that I will not buy a Creative product by it's self. I will buy something that has it in the unit like the G73, but I will not go out of the way to do so anymore.
I wonder if ASUS can change over to another company's product to use in these systems and get away from the madness that is Creative. -
I have to agree that Creative is nutty. I saw their 2 new X-Fi products announced, and I have to ask what the hell were they thinking?
$299 for their new Titanium HD. The Auzentech HD HT costs less and includes HDMI and PAP support. (PAP is required if you want your BluRay Master Audio to be decoded to 24/96 in analog, or bitstreamed) Sure, you have 109dB vs 122dB on the analog stage, but who cares if you use HDMI to do 7.1 LPCM to your receiver with 124dB Burr-Brown DAC's?
The USB devices seems somewhat more sane, at the measly price of $149. meh. -
I cant use any of the Creative software at all, anytime I install any of the drivers I get the hideous static noise, I have tried all of the realtek drivers, and the creative packs, but as soon as I do anything I get the noise and have to uninstall them all again.
I suppose I should RMA it, but I have repasted, and done all of the bios updates, and really do not want to wait the time to get it bac, seeing as its my only comp right now. -
Then wait for the new software.
-
I tried those modded X-fi files from here with the same results, so I am not sure that they will even fix it.
-
The MB2 software, unlike the original, is Win 7 certified.
-
any gary updates? Taking too long and no reply from him.. nice Asus service
-
The update was that Asus and Creative are still haggling over the cost of the update. I'm sorry that life in the corporate world isn't moving as fast as you want it to.
