CPU for sure not. When then CPU model ends in HQ as in i7-4700HQ, thats telling you its built onto the motherboard. The MQ models are removeable.
Dont know yet if the GPU will be upgradable as we haven't got any of them on hand yet, but based on previous models I'd say no to that as well.

Did Asus ever replace or fix the 1080p screen on this refresh in regards to sparkly/grainy look?

That's what I am wondering as well, Many people complaint also about the horizontal lines that can be seen when looking close carefully.

I'm not sure if this applies to all models, but I looked at the new G750 at Best Buy yesterday and the hardware ID shows a AUO screen instead of the Chin Mei (or however it's spelled) in the previous 750. The color reproduction was much more vibrant...however it still isn't what I would consider a huge leap in clarity.

The office is saying LP173WF1 (TL)(B3) but that this can change by batch and therefore we don't advertise this as we can't guarantee which you would get.

I read that the new model comes with optimus but this gives me many problems with my skyrim mods because they will not recognize the nvidia gpu. So my question is can i deactivate optimus that only the nvidia gpu will work even in idle ? I read in another forum that optimus is a software which comes with windows so if i install my old desktop windows 7 it shouldnt be enabled anymore inst it ? Or is there another way to get rid of optimus ?

What's the length of the m.2 cards in the G750JZ? 42mm or 60mm? Also are any of the configuration sites (powernotebooks/xoticpc/etc) going to have options for different capacity m.2 drives? I'm looking to replace my G73JW and want either a straight replacement with ~500GB SSD but I don't need the 32GB of RAM or BD writer on the 2,999 version of the JZ.

I got the Asus G750JM w/860M Nvidia card and I have vertical lines, there so annoying! Also my wallpaper always looks burred and hazy driving me crazy. Anyone know if this is going to be fixed, cause if not it might be going back. Also it wont play Diablo 3 unless you edit the D3Prefs file to play in windowed mode. In fullscreen mode it just shows a black screen with sound.

Sigh.... Asus did it again!!! I miss the old days when they actually just use very clear glossy panels, yeah it is reflective and glare but at least it didn't have the sparkly/grainy look and these hazy/blurry and horizontal lines...

Asus and other brands did it because many people complain that they can see… reflection –> so what?
Matte screens always hazy and blurry and look like outdated... Glossy screens are almost always better/sharper/cleaner (there is NO extra coating).
Now we have to pay extra to get replacement Glossy screens (like glossy 90% gamut panel)…. :(

Bad news to hear the new Asus screens also have this problem. I think I might go for a MSI instead, sure they produce more noise and heat but the screen is the most important thing as it is only thing you notice when working or gaming.

I had the MSI. it got so hot my video card went after one month. And yes it is very load! My husband has the G750JW and has had NO problems with his, that's why I got myself the G750JM, only difference was suppose to be the video card. His doesn't have vertical lines, mine does. But I will put up with them, Because MSI was a headache. If anything goes wrong you have to ship it back to them, you cant get anyone else to work on it, not even BB if you buy the extendend warranty. Thats how I got this new one cause I sent it to BB for repair and they broke my sticker on the back, so it voided my warranty with MSI, I still had 1.5 yrs on warranty. BB swapped it with a new one like that, no hassle was nice. The Asus runs so smooth! My MSI was constantly having issues. My friends all told me don't go for the bling, (I liked how you could change keyboard colors lol) go for the performance and I didn't listen, me bad!

Sorry to hear your msi had cooling issues. As i have said asus use different panels over time so it's quite easy for two to have different displays.

Just compared your 3dmark results. The 780M is for some reason way faster in the physics tests. I hope this is just a driver issue and will be fixed in the future. If it is, then the performance (in 3dmark) will be even greater. Or the Intel I7-4900MQ is indeed way faster.

Not sure what to think, just saw a video on Youtube comparing temps for G750JX (with 770m) and G750JM (with 860m), surprisingly the JM's CPU was running between 5 and 10°C hotter than the JX in the same tests (nothing fancy just temps after a bit of gaming on BF4 on ultra), is it somehow possible that the 860m is kepler and not maxwell? pushing the overall temps up quite a bit, that would really suck .
Also weird since Asus added a bit of copper on the heatsinks you would think the temps would have gone down instead of up ...

The 860M is a smaller core running at much higher clocks and the 770M was always quite cool.

Wow, some benchmarks show that this laptop is around 3 times faster than my soon 4 year old G73jh. I think it's soon time to get an upgrade. Impressive how much progress was done in the mobile space in the last 4 years.

Power does not equal temperature directly when comparing chips of different sizes, as chips shrink more people will see this.

1130MHz does not require a voltage change  ASUS provides a great silicon

ASUS provides a great tool for Overclocking is an option for Voltage is an option on the Power Boost, the base clock and the clock boost, everything can change and save, it looks like editing VBIOS live
