Yes it's a best guess by the inbuilt circuitry and every cycle you do is making another notch off the number left.

Also under battery it was also likely your CPU was not working quite so hard.

    Thanks Meaker!
    1 more thing remaining..
    The temp.
CPU temp seems fine after XTU and Prime95 stress test, however for the GPU in games I am getting a bit higher temp then others. I run Furmark 15 min Burn-in benchmark and the max temp was ~74C, but after that I run Burn-in test on 1920x1080 and the temp went high really fast! I've shut it down after ~3 min when it reached 93C (199F)... is this normal?! The GPU fan was barely able to keep up with the temp increase ...

    update:
    I've made a screenshot:

Forget FurMark, it stresses GPU's to the extreme and not realistic game levels even with max settings.
Does it get that high during actual gaming?

It won't go higher then 93...that's the throttle limit. Keep an eye on the GPU-Z and you will see the GPU downclock.
I had the same problem on my JZ. I sent it to service and they replaced the cooling system...atm waiting for it to return.

I disagree Furmark will give you a pretty good Idea of the quality of your Pasting. Which is important when you first get a notebook. A poor factory pasting will fail completely eventually usually at the worst possible time for you. It will push your GPU further than any game however with these hot rod GPU and CPU in notebooks it pays to test and replaced while with in your return period.

Indeed it stopped at 93C. What was the temp for you during gaming?

I know that Furmark does not represent gaming temps, but I still wonder all G750JZ models have this high temp during burn in test or just the ones with bad thermal paste or cooling system?

My gaming temp is avg 5C higher than others have, at least I see 78-79C for Crysis 3 on youtube while I get 83-84C.

It can also kill your GPU if it does have a poor pasting and your not careful.
There are other ways to check for high temps than pushing your GPU to the limit, especially if you already have high temps.
Look all GPU's are not made the same, some run hotter than others, some OC better than others all I'm saying it's still is in a good thermal range before throttling.Ambient air temperature also plays a factor so not all temps will be exactly the same from laptop to laptop.
You might disagree bit I am right ;)

    @DRevan
Your temps are higher but still fine.
If you are really worried about your higher temps send it in for a replacement or you can try repasting your GPU/CPU for better temps, but unless you feel comfortable taking your laptop apart I wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart.

Well, I played the new Wolfenstein and I had like 80C on CPU and 83C on GPU and a fun fact in Diablo3 I had 70C on CPU but 86C on GPU.
Also, the most annoying thing for me was that during light usage, like web browsing, I could hear the CPU fan ramping up...I find that unacceptable on a gaming laptop with such a cooling system.

I talked to someone in service and they told me that the CPU cooler was faulty and they are going to replace it (nothing about the GPU cooler tho), but I am a little skeptical. I hope it was only a faulty cooler/bad thermal paste application.

Just out of curiosity, what is the exact model of your laptop? Mine is G750JZ-T4027D and was the cheapest version of JZ I could buy in Romania. And another interesting fact that it got "out of stock" in all romanian online stores, 2-3 days after I sent my laptop in service.

It is the G750JZ-T4016D, the cheapest one in Hungary.

Could someone, who has temps under 80C while gaming GPU intensive games check that his/hers GPU temp stayes under 90C during Furmark Burn-in test? If ALL G750JZ models reach thermal throttling temp during burn-in test than I won't bother with sending it back ...

Either got a sample with worse chips in the silicon lottery or just a worse thermal paste application.

I am starting to get REALLY DISAPPOINTED in ASUS...

Today I've took back my G750JZ to the store and received a brand new, unopened replacement.

I came home, installed Windows and ran a Furmark test...it blowed this one away too.

Than I tried my own test. In this test what I do is I load up Metro 2033 menu and wait what temp it reaches. From this temp I can see the absolute maximum that the GPU can reach during a high gpu intensive game, like Crysis 3.

    Here are my result:

Old, originally purchased laptop (26C ambient temp)
    with laptop cooler: 86C

New, replacement laptop (28,5C ambient temp)
    Without laptop cooler: 92C
    With laptop Cooler: 89C

(I've not timed the test, but it was less then 20 min on the new laptop)

    Metro2033_2014_06_12_01_58_16_949.jpg

In short, during 28,5C ambient temp my JZ can barely stay under the throttling level with a laptop cooler.

I know it is summer and it is hot, but still, I don't think that 2/2 G750JZ should produce such high temps if we consider the cooling system it has ...

Not to mention that I think the CPU is even is running on higher temp in this new laptop and even while typing I can hear the CPU fan speed up...

The 2nd one is going back too, waiting for the 3rd one ...
Others have 74-79C with this same specific model, I will not tolerate 83-88C.

ps. I've tried to run the fans on max RPM (25500?!) and the temp stayed barely under 80C, but the laptop was louder than a vacuum cleaner ...

    Hello Guys,

    I have some questions!

I want to buy g750jz with a one nordic language keyboard on it. I would like to change it with my mother tongue keyboard and I have found one like that with the upper part.

    http://image5.sahibinden.com/photos/62/16/95/167621695y4n.jpg

It is a brand new part and keyboard and the owner doesn't know if it is OK for JZ model.

May you tell me if the all 750 models use the same keyboard and the upper part?

Additionally, may you tell me which Ram does 750jz series use? samsung?

Lastly, If I buy 2 SSD, may I install fresh windows into them and may I make RAID 0?

    regards

It uses 1.35v ram, the brand could change.

You will need your own media and potentially code. (Key is tied to an OEM install)

I wanna do a repaste, what TIM is reccomended for a notebook? Preferably with atleast 2 years durability.
I was thinking about MX-4 but after reading this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-4-application-my-cpu-deteriorating-days.html I am not so sure anymore. But on the other side, I have MX4 on my desktop cpu and gpu and no problems so far. The plus side is that I already have a syringe of MX4 so I don't have to buy another TIM.

Most people reccomend IC Diamond 7 for laptops but it's not available in my country. There are other diamond based TIMs like Antec Formula 7, Junpus JP-D9000 or Junpus JP-DX1.

The ideal paste would be Liquid Ultra, but since my laptop still has warranty, I really have doubts that the service would agree to apply liquid metal :)

Other TIM's available that I am considering are Prolimatech PK-3 or Noctua NT-H1, but since these are "traditional" pastes and since I already have the Arctic MX4 available, I don't think that the extra expense is worthed.

Also, the thermal pads? 0.5mm thick right? As in thinner is better?

I've used IC Diamond on my G73JH and it worked even after 3.5 years... I've repasted with MX-4 just yesterday and my temps instantly dropped 15C under load in comparison to the stock paste... I would just use MX-4 if you have it... There is no point in spending extra as it is very good.. It should last 2 years easily..

Is anyone playing RTS games like Company of Heroes 2 or Rome TW2 on the G750JZ ?

On my first JZ (that I've sent back due to overheating) if I remember correctly, I've got around 60 FPS on the first mission in COH2 on the highest settings (Vsync and AA turned completely off), but now I only get 40-45 FPS.

I've tried different drivers and Win reinstall, nothing helped.

I also seem to lost some FPS in ROME 2, since I dont remember getting below 30 FPS previously in the Teutoburg Forest mission, but now I get 28-35 FPS on the highest settings.

Is it me or I just remember wrong and the result I'm getting now is in fact the correct one for the JZ ?

My Crysis 3 FPS is okay, in mather of fact, it maybe even 1-2 FPS better.

880M GTX is used during all games.

    Big woop...totally useless screenshot...
CPU testing with GPU-Z screen, why that's....brilliant!
All your posts make you look more like a salesman tbh...

You give no details about ambient temps, no info on fans, if they are auto or full on...so, again, what is the point of your screenshot?

LINX or Furmark, forcing all laptops Max RPM, RPM auto and artificial stress you damage the equipment,
in JZ max T ° C on the graphics card I have seen 85 ° C, most often it is 70-80 ° C, the fan on Max is between 60-70 ° C T also after overclocking, and you can easily overclock to 1.1 GHz

Hello, I would like to know how you did it to put your screen 100Hz.

My control panel NVIDIA display option does not exist, someone can you explain to me the process to follow?

    PS : I have a G750JM ( 4700HQ GTX860M 16Gb )

Got a G750JM on the way after returning an MSI GS60 Ghost due to it sounding like a jet taking off! Hopefully this will be a different story :))

Does anyone know where I can find an unlocked 860m vbios? I understand the Maxwell chip is quite the overclocker..

Hello guys! I am waiting an answer!

I am about to buy G750JZ at the weekend. It has only HDD so I will upgrade it myself with SSD. May you tell me if I add 2 SDD maybe I make it RAID 0 by myself? Or is it a hardware thing?

There are also 8 GB ram and I think it is Samsung. may I add 8 gb extra as kingston, would it be OK?

    Regards

I don't know about the G750JZ, but traditionally the Intel laptop chipset lacked the RAID functionality.
It's no problem to mix the RAM companies, just get the same clocked one. Kingston are always good, even the Value series.

Do I need to buy sdd retail pack or ssd with a laptopkit? Windows 8.1 installation will be in normal Hdd so it seems I need a laptop kit to transfer files fron current hdd to new ssd.

I recommend the laptop kit if it comes with a data-transfer cd. Please note that I read somewhere that the G750 series sometimes has M2 bus, check that first before buying it!
And this I just found on the Asus website, it seems there are models including raid:
    1.5TB 5400
    1TB 7200
    750GB 5400 With 8 G SSD
    512GB SSD
    256GB SSD
    Dual HDD Support
    RAID0 Support (Optional)

Yes, there are 750jz models which have RAID 0 already in it. However, I can buy here only the basic model since it is the only model sold. Is RAID 0 something which is done from setup screen or a hardware thing.

Here is the model I will buy. With new proccesor.

    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    17,3' FHD LED-1920 x 1080
    Intel i7-4710HQ (Haswell, 4-ydintä) 2,5 GHz. Välimuisti 6 Mt
    Mobile Intel HM87 Express
    8 Gt DDR3. DIMM
    GeForce GTX880M 4 Gt
    Super Multi DVDRW
750 Gt SATA, jossa 8 Gt SSD cache 5400 RPM

Anyone know where can I find thermal pads like the ones Asus use in their G750 laptops? Light blue colored and jelly/thick sticky paste like consistency.

I suppose it is where we put ssd? I watched a video on gt70 and recalling it from there.

I am planning to change the keyboard also. I hope keyboard in my own language would work when I change it. Do you think would it require any bios or software work?

It should only require configuration in the OS at most.

Actually it is from G750JH. That is why I am a bit suspicious.

Actually apart from GPU, there is no difference between JH and JZ.
