That G73JH-RBBX05 is really a sweat deal...btw does any1 know that the 1 year warranty they give is 1 year Global Asus Warranty or as usual, "only best Buy" warranty?

I bet is ASus 1 year global, i think Best buy has nothing to deal with the 1st year warranty, unless you wanted to extend that 1st year.I am not sure, never bought an Asus laptop from them .

Called them and asked them when its going to be available since its listed as
"coming soon". They said they dont know and just keep watching. Guy also said it will be available in store also.

Hope it comes in my 14 day return period for this X505 Qosmio.

Total off topic question, but if I'm looking to have this thing (RXX05) post-forwarded out of the US, to pay the least tax where should I have it post-forwarded from? I don't get the American tax system between states. :p

It is generally based upon the state you live in and if that company has a store front in the state. You then pay that states tax rate.

If the company has no store in your state then generally no sales tax.

I would assume this is how a international order would be handled.

I spoke to the guys at my local store yesterday and it seems they have 4 on the inbound freight. I'm going to be returning my Sony this week and placing an "OMS" order so that I have it waiting for me once it arrives. I want to be sure someone does not snatch them all before I get mine. =)

The RX05 looks great, so tempting, the 1600x900 res screen is what i was looking for, trying to avoid 1080p on 17'', ill start checking if i can sell my G51.

BTW anyone know what part is the HDD bracket in asus store?

So someone at BB thinks that 2 gig of ram and a 500 gig hard drive is worth $500 more for the 09?

In any case, the 05 is definitely worth it. Like others, I'm kind of glad that it's not 1080p.

I've been stalking the Best Buy site to see if any good, new gaming laptops are coming in and then I saw the new G73JH-RBBX05 today for $1199. I ordered the N61JQ-X1 two weeks ago off Amazon for $969, and it still hasn't shipped  My question: which is the better deal? My budget was $1000 so the BB one is pushing it. And I'm not sure how much the better graphics will benefit me since I'm not a much of a PC gamer (I love my 360), then again I never had the option to really do any PC gaming before either.

    Note:
Best Buy: $230 more, plus 7% tax (I'd also use Bing)
Amazon: I have an Amazon Visa so I'd probably get triple the reward points buying off Amazon over BB.

It's probably more logical for me to go the Amazon route with the N61JQ-X1, but I'm just crushing on the new BB laptop now

It really comes down to what you want from the laptop and how you plan on using it. G73 is definitely a better gaming platform then the N61. Also sub $1000 the m11x is also an attractive gaming platform.

This laptop is a desktop replacement (see current laptop in sig). I'm hoping for it to last me at least 4 years, so I want the laptop that I choose to be fairly future-proof. I will be gaming on the laptop, but that is not the entire focus of it. It needs to get me through another 3 years of college (portability isn't a concern because I have my netbook for that). The m11x isn't what I'm looking for, but thanks :)

Question what state pay the lowest tax for goods bought @ bestbuy?

If I'm to use the guy who normally ships to me then my calculation looks like this:
    1200$ + 100$ tax + 40$ ship + 100$ ship to Japan = 1440$

Using cashback @ some other site for the G73jh-a1 might be a better choice?

DO NOT BUY FROM BB. I've had laptops DOA (once) and bad SATA connector, and both times they refused to refund me and I had to get it fixed through HP/Acer.

Best Buy Canada flyer shows the RCNX09 listed at $1499.99 (regular $1699.99) starting Friday, March 26 through March 31, 2010. It's listed at the top of page 18 for anyone interested.

Check your local in-store stock, because there are none available online at the moment.

The G73 is probably the route you want to go, the only concern I would have is the warranty when bought through BB. It only carries a 1 year warranty and may the notebook gods have mercy on you if you turn it over to the dork squad. Check out Square Trade over an extended bb option.

The GeekSquad has never done anything too me ever, their pretty good at repairing parts, the prices are quite good with best buy but i still would get it from J and R cause of having the advantage of having 8 gigs of ram and a blu ray drive, and full hd instead of 900p! lol the upgrade option how hard is it though? I only like to get to the ram or something like that, is this machine only 7.5 pounds, if so damn i would mind carrying this around compared to my alienware lol.

At one of my local BBs, they said they'll come on the truck next Friday and be available on the 4th (or actually the 5th, since the 4th is easter...I think).

So they should have them on the floor a week from Monday.

I took back my Sony today with the service plan. I've got $1750 on a giftcard and debating on whether or not to order the 09 for $1600 + s/h or get the 05 for $400 less. I have a couple bluetooth dongles, bluray is nice but not essential, 1080 also is nice, 8gb vs 6gb, extra 500gb drive....

Realistically is it really worth the $400 extra? 8vs 6gb ram, I don't even fully use the 4gb I have now. Extra 500gb is nice, but I have 8tb on my home server and so far 250gb has never really been that much of a limitation on my current laptop. I'm used to 1680x1050, so a larger screen with lower res might be a bit annoying, my Sony at 16.2 with 1080 was nice for sure. Bluetooth without a usb port used by a dongle could be nice. While I do have Bluray movies and 2 players at home, I have normally just watch rips on the laptop rather than carry around a bunch of discs.

To me the larger screen and onboard bluetooth might be the major differences. The primary components of the CPU, GPU, Mobo, WiFi, and such are all the same.

    Hard to decide.

Your a wild man if you got a gift card for a purchase made with cash or credit! There is no way to ever get your money back now! If you end up not liking the Asus your stuck buying at BB. Does anyone know if bing 15% will work with this??? Maybe we get lucky and can use the bing and a 12% rewards coupon too!

Am I missing something here? The 09 at BestBuy is 1599. You can just about get the A1 for that price. With the 09 you get: 1 year less warranty, no accidental damage protection, low res screen, no Blu ray reader, No bag, no mouse... Why would you buy this gimped BestBuy model instead of ordering a proper A1 or A2?

    Pro tip:

You can use in store gift cards to buy VISA gift cards to use anywhere. It costs you the activation fee, but it is possible.

I learned this last Xmas after receiving a Wal Mart gift card as a gift. Wal Mart didn't have anything I wanted ;)

[I haven't actually tried this as BEST BUY, but since someone's making money somewhere {activation fee} I don't think they'd have any more of a problem with it than Wal Mart did]

Best Buy in your area sells what model for $1599? In the store? With 1920x1080, this would have to be an A1/A2/X1/X2/X3, not one of the RBBX models...

The 09 may appeal to those who just go in and purchase without to much searching around and if the 05 is out of stock.

It is cheaper and has much better specs compared to the other BB machines like the f/z sony, toshiba x505, of HP envy in the same ballpark price range.
