Hi guys!
i'm confused. Is VGA of G74 The best or one of the best in laptop Gaming or there is something wrong with 3GB VRAM ?!
Which One is Better for buying Asus G74SX-3DE and why?
GenTech PC - Asus G74SX-3DE nVidia GTX560M Gaming Notebook
ASUS G74SX-3DE- XOTIC PC - ASUS Gaming Laptop
If i pre-order when i give that?
is it a good time for buying that model or not? (No reviews published yet)
-
2.Xoticpc better. cheaper (about $50- ~ $100- same build).
3.You will get it on July
4.A1 model should be great. About the reviews, I guess many people will be happy like the previous models when they came out. -
It is definitely not the best. NVdia 485m or Radeon 6970m are way more powerful.
The 3GB of memory does not mean any better performance than cards with 1.5GB. -
What is the best Gaming laptop now? which laptop is better than ASUS G74SX-3DE? -
Unfortunately, the design of their laptops are so crap IMO. -
If you like playing the latest and most demanding games on high detail settings, no.
-
I believe that the GTX560M will play most games in the highest settings, with the exception of the Crysis 1, Crysis 2, and Metro 2033. With that said, even the GTX 485 cannot provide a smooth gaming solution on these games with the highest settings. Yes it does provide better frame rate for the other games, but if you use the GTX 560M you can also achieve playable(depends what you mean playable is) framerates.
-
-
G53SX will be naked eye 3d? or with glasses?
Here some pictures:
-
You can always count on GenTechPC to have the greatest and latest!
-
GenTechPC with the same system is like 40$~50$ more...
-
I'm seeing exact same price, but if it is cheaper it is only because of the cash discount Xotic offers which isn't something everyone can do and I wouldnt doubt you could do the same at Gentech.
Honestly, after being lied to from Xotic about laptop details which led to be buying and then having to return for the exact problem i was promised it WOULDN'T have and losing money on shipping all for something I could have completely avoided if they just told me the truth. So, I will never buy from them again. -
-
Can't say I've purchased from Gentech before, but Ken Lee certainly is a respectable guy, so no doubt you would get good service. :>
-
If the price is bothering you, I'm sure Ken will price match.
I'll even throw in BTOTech. He's a pain about repasting, but at least he's upfront about everything, and makes damn fine vids.
-
i posted this on the other g74 thread, heres a editted(to this thread) repaste
"edit2: prices with everything downgraded
$1645 (gentechpc, no HDDs, rebate for cash users, free shipping) ($1805 w/ tax if you live in CA)
$1689 (xoticpc, w/ a 500GB primary HDD, rebate for cash users, free shipping) w/o tax
seems like prices are pretty close, since gentechpc charges $45 for a 500GB HDD, only diff is the tax (for CA and NE) and the reliability of xoticpc" -

My, my..... decisions, decisions!

Is it worth to add more 157$ to get G74SX instead G53SX? (G53SX has 2GB and 128bit, and the G74SX has 3GB and 192bit)? and is it worth to pay 75$ for 500GB (w/ 4GB SSD Memory) Seagate XT 7200RPM NCQ Hybrid 32MB Cache (Serial-ATA II 3GB/s)? -
-
Also, what's up with the weird RAM configurations? 14 GB? 3x4GB + 1x2GB? -

Yes, Ken at Gentech does make the same '3% discount' offering, as can be seen HERE!
-
-
I did it with Turbo Fan on, not necessary but I always turn it on when overclocking just for peace of mind.

What do you guys think is the best benchmark that relates to gaming performance. 3D mark 11, 3D mark 06, vantage, etc?
-
None, since driver developers will optimize drivers for specific benchmarks. Use a game for benching real-world performance.
Given that, The 3DMarks and Heaven benches are useful for comparing to itself. -
^ I second that!
-
In a couple of months they're reveal more streamlined and relatively bug-free model.
In my experience you should NEVER buy the first in the line of ANYTHING -
If I did that, I wouldn't have my G73JH baby.
-
Umm guys, if someone knows, should I add 150$/250$ (not sure) for GTX 560 3GB WITH 192BIT instead GTX 560 2GB WITH 128BIT?
I know that the 2GB or 3GB, would be the same (for me), but what about the bit(or bus...) Is it worth it? to pay extra money? -
The bandwidth difference will be a vital increase for a mobile card. -
-
In a year from now people with the 128bit 460M GTX will be struggling and those with the 192bit 460M GTX will not be struggling as much.
Its simple math, if spending an extra couple of $100 now will get you 6-12 months longer out of your laptop GPU you will save money. -

I think I will go for G74SX and no 53SX

I have no interest in 3D although the 120hz screen is quite nice and the smaller G53 would be my other choice if only it had a proper GPU in it.
With that discount your laughing. -
Some people are saying that the G53SX will have 192Bit... I don't know, I prefer to wait till it comes out. -
I will probably pick up the G74 once it drops to around a grand most likely I like its style. -
Its style is like the G53SX (almost). I think 17 inch is more like a desktop pc, big... G53SX better for outside.
uh actually, same laptop, same style and ALMOST same size (the g53 is like 16.6 inch) -
edit: those prices are for the g74-3de btw -

Looks like there is a competing notebook in the same class as the G74SX...... which makes you go "Hmmmmmmm?"
10 Reasons to consider the MSI GT780R! (And, it's available NOW!)
Any thoughts or opinions would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!
-
That GT780R looks like a very nice choice over the G74 IMHO.
If i were in the market for either of those machines the MSI would be the one to get hands down and that was without everything you outlined in the link.
Dont think you can go wrong at all with the MSI its a beauty.
I was looking very closely at the MSI before i grabbed my M17xR3 but the main 2 reasons for me was i got a SUPER deal(to good to pass up for my budget) and i really wanted a faster GPU .
The 560m GTX looks pretty solid and i dont know for sure if the 1.5gb of Vram will make a difference.. I know the lesser VRAM on the Asus cards did when it came to the 460m they were selling with 1gb vs 1.5gb though so yeah im not certain if it will or how much. -
Sorry but I just can't help but laugh at Striker's posts. Every year he puts up E3 news and says how hyped he is and is going to definitely pull the trigger but never does lol! Striker, I'm still waiting on you to buy something man..just something!
-
-
I am not sure why they keep choosing one fan over 2 but i guess at the end of the day for standard gaming etc that single fan should do .
Overall that MSI still looks pretty solid and they made some radical changes in the new design. -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Truth is, you haven't a clue what I have, or have not pulled the trigger on, and YES, I am about to pull the trigger again....... BUT, what will it be..... a G74SX, or MSI GT780R? I think I'll take Quad's advice here!
Anyhow, it's been a long time since I've visited the forums Joker, and it's nice to see, some things never change. Thanks for the WELCOME, I can see you are glad to have me back!
LOL!
-
my 2 cents: the G74 is kinda ugly... like, really ugly, imo. XD
Otherwise, i like the specs, but what hooked me into a G73 was the price tag... this is kinda alien-ware style wallet-disemboweling. -
