Hehe. I do have a Girl friend. but im curious about the look of a gaming girl with a G73
-
@Chastity you cannot say anything? non-disclosure?
-
btw Chastity, what are u testing? The temporary GSOD fix(10.8) or the final one (vBIOS)? -
@Wagnard: and a natural blonde too
@DReven: LOL! You should see my rig at home. Using 3x Dell S2490W screens in portrait for 3350x1920 on GTX285 SLI, and an Auzentech HD HT card via HDMI 6ch LPCM to a Yamaha RX-V863 to an Infinity Primus 150 x4 + C250 center + DIY Adire Shiva MarkIV 12" subwoofer with 377w power plate and 4" 18Hz tuned port (linear response +/- 1dB down to 14Hz) Case was designed in CAD to match the Adire driver's specs. -
@Chastity Don't tease me too much
-
I don't think Asus Commando will break your door down just for giving this tiny info -
Edit: on a forum you don't speak, you type... screw the "can not SAY anything" -
Only thing 2 lefts to know... 200 pounds / age ?
-
@Quzyx: Hehe...I wish.
No, my system has grown/evolved over time. The sub cost me $480 in parts and plywood. When I tested her, she was able to pump out 136dB down to 14 Hz before beginning to roll off. Of course I don't keep her at those settings.
@DReven: Silly Sith! Your silly mind tricks do not work on me! -
You guys may want to check out some of the Korean All Girl teams. All 100% of those girls are very attractive and well, they kicked Japan's best teams in a few asian counter-strike FPS games
Attractive I mean pretty face and not fat.

Lol now this thread is getting somewhere. Chastity, you have a simply bada$$ setup. ir jealus

I just purchased a G73 a week ago. Experienced the BSOD "MACHINE_EXCEPTION_ERROR". The system eventually repeated froze at the Windows "Welcome" splach screen. HARD reboots did not fix the problem. Finally, I did a sytem restore, running the newest BIOS and updated the ATI drivers. The laptop appears to be more stable, have only momentary freezes. The Wireless Card shows report "no connection" Still attempting to locate drivers. Any one know of a location. The Athereos site has nothing and I refuse to use a third party install package.
-
The BSOD are not G73 issues, those are Microsoft Windows 7 issues. I would go to forums that help with Windows 7 for solutions.
Personally when I got my G73, I got rid of the hidden partitions and did a fresh install of W7. I'm thinking I might download an official copy of Windows 7 not this bloated Asus version and do a clean install again. -

Hello,
We don't recommend installing all WINDOWS Update if the unit is working properly because this may cause confilct with device drivers and pre-installed applications.
Thank you for choosing ASUS products.
Best Regards,

The 12" sub sounds nice though!

I'm running Definitive Technology BP setup- Def Tech BP6B Fronts, Def Tech CLR 2002 Center, Def Tech BP2X Surrounds w/a budget PA-120 Subwoofer- it realistically hits about 24hz before falling off a cliff. Course, that's my HT setup, I'm not running an HTPC or anything like that. -
BTW, I just reread what I typed, and I LOL'd/
@Aramis: With subs, you can either go with small sizes with huge amp-plates, or big cabinets with smaller amp-plates. I went with the 377 watt plate and a 25"x25"25" cube, downfiring. And it has 5 coats of cherrywood stain!Attached Files:

If you've got other pics feel free to PM them to me- I like speaker pron. -
Yeah, it's heavy, but no case vibrations

Update -
1. GSOD - We have entered qualification testing on two possible solutions. As soon as I can give a date or provide the solution you will be the first to know.
2. Missing Keystrokes - Working with Synaptics now along with R&D. I will have a separate post on this shortly as we might require system setups for those experiencing this problem to assist in regression testing.
3. SSD Performance - Outside of the normal storage throughput penalty for having C1E and full C-States enabled (same goes on the desktop side) I did not find other problems this weekend but I am still testing with our P4G software enabled to complete the process. That said I have placed a request in to open up the PM settings in the BIOS.
4. Audio - Working with Creative on an Audigy MB update now.
5. TIM - Completed root cause analysis and working on potential solutions for those experiencing this issue. -
Thanks for the updates Gary!
-
Do the penalties for for C1E and full C-states bring the performance down to near sata levels?
-
My g73 is coming back from RMA. Will it be GSOD free? (A better question: Will they have done the vbios and TIM application, or will I need to send it back in?)
-
@Gary Key: don't forget, we also need something to fix the missing keyboard backlight... however, thanks for your work!
-
Thanks Gary.
-
I wonder if I7 desktop also have this problem with SSDs. I only have a Core2Quad desktop and there is no SSD 4k problem with it.
-
Rofl, this thread took a strange turn "That fast". -
One more update from me - i decided to try lowering the temps more today and opened the laptop up again (fifth time i did it, now it only takes me 5 minutes to take it completely apart).
Following some old advice where someone mentioned he had great success with it, i decided to try cutting up the thermal pads to make each vRAM chip have its own pad the same size as the chip instead of the long strip (the logic being that the pad in between the chips that is not touching anything is keeping in the heat). The result is absolutely no difference in temperature on the vRAM (on idle i think it even went up 0.5~1C) so dont waste your time on something like that. -
Thanks for that HellCry coz I am re-pasting/re-padding my one ones I come home from offshore.
(and put in a 940XM as well)

Edit: Found alternative link, nvm.

Geek language.
Rarely spoken by girlz btw. -
On #2, I have 2 friends and myself with the laptop that have the issue. I'll be happy to give you any details I can and would be willing to do a system swap for a new unit if you want mine to troubleshoot both the GSOD and missing keystrokes. As a solution to the keystrokes I have disabled the touchpad in BIOS and just use a mouse on the side and all is fine. -
Gary: Thanks for the Update. I'm especially curious about the TIM solution, as I am gearing up to do my own repaste (looking into other upgrades to complete at the same time, really. 16GB is mighty tempting...)
Chastity: Sweet sub. I built one a couple of years back, with help from my father. He's the one who got me started on music, cinema, and sound in general I guess.
Nerd girls are a rare breed; I'm happy to have you with us! -
Sigh. I was able to run 10.7a with a fresh install of Windows, but I noticed the screen "bounce" in YouTube videos and during the WEI exam. During the exam as well, a small, horizontal black bar appeared about an inch from the bottom of the screen and it wasn't more than a few CM in height.
Back to 10.1. At least I didn't GSOD on 10.7 but I still was not pleased. -
Nerd girls are hawt

-
Well that's just weird then, first time I've read of that specific problem with that combination. On a fresh install of windows too... Did you try applying a slight overclock and trying it again?
-
By fresh install, I mean I used my recovery disks, sorry for the confusion. -
Eh, same difference. The extra (bloatware) that comes along with it really doesn't effect what we are talking about. I only seem to increase cpu performance by removing power to gear or whatever its called.
It's not really artificially solving the problem, as it is most likely that the new vbios and 10.8 drivers will incorporate some sort of underclocking/overclocking the card depending on if you are running on battery or plugged in. The Mobility Radeon HD 5870 can easily handle the overclock of 800/1100, but you should only need to overclock the mem to 1100 to gain the stability. I have clocked mine as far up as 855/1150 with no problem and ran benchmarks stable for hours. The heat is an issue if you haven't re-pasted but even with stock TIM, a overclock of 710/1100 should result in possibly even lower temps than the stock clocks. Try it out, the very least it doesn't work and you are back to where you are now -
-
It is odd, it has to do with how the vbios reads the cards clocks and applies the fan speeds. I'm not "exactly" sure on how it works but have read numerous reports of different people getting the result.
-
oops my bad, I meant the ram needed to be overclocked to 1100 not 1000

Something along the order of a "good will piece of mind" thing. I've only seen 100c (that only once or twice) but it still scares the hell out of me sometimes.
Can't blame a guy for tryin', anyway. . . -
