You probably haven't been reading all forum posts haven't you. HellCry has literally seen tens of G73JH GSOD. He has been to the service center and at his directions they were all GSOD'ing.
Also, if you have been reading anything overhere, you would know that the GSOD are real, it will be solved by a video BIOS fix and it's on the way.

Yay! I'm waiting for that new vBIOS, like if it was SC2 lol
Oh and nice timing Garry, today is my birthday lol -
oh and btw, maybe it would be a good idea to open a new thread for the new vBIOS, this is kinda getting full and getting harder to track, not to mention it would be nice to see the link in the op with some basic info for the newbies on how to update it.

This thread is really getting too long, Im just searching for Garys posts from his profile now... He should open a new one and put big bold red letters DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD!
Id be happy to try out the new vBios, ill throw everything i have at it. And seriously i think if it solves the GSOD issues that will be enough at least for me. If ill want overdrive or better powerplay ill just edit the new vBios in RBE myself. Ill try to be one of the first to download it if a link is posted or if youre reading this Gary, you can PM me a link if you want someone else with known GSOD problems to test it before all the others.
After this im anxiously waiting for a keyboard/touchpad conflict solution. -
Instead just release it publicly so that everyone who has a G73 can enjoy and test.
One person who complains more than anyone is indicative that Gary and his team are on the right track when there are thousands upon thousands of G73 owners? -
Kudos to Gary for not letting go. He should get a raise or something
Could you please make a big fat and fresh topic about the new vBios? Links to most recent mobility drivers would help as well,
best regards
Pawel -
Id at least test it properly and post realistic results.
You only focus on my critique on what could/should be improved on the G73JH, i also give it credit where it deserves it (like the silent fans and speakers). But talking to you is like talking to a broomstick. Oh now im just being mean to the broomstick. -
Just chill guys, only a few more hours and every1 will get it.
Hopefully Gary will make a new thread for it, would be a pain to search for the download link in the comments. -
Or just use this link and click search for all posts by Gary Key.
Shouldnt be a problem finding it than. -
Gary! Gary! Gary! Wooohooooooooo 10.7 10.8 10.9
-
Gary,
Will the updated vBIOS be posted on the ASUS G73Jh support site or on the general ASUS FTP? -
-
Great!
I hope they will also add some decent instructions for installing the new bios, vbios & drivers
Q -
you can´t wait for the bios....
here we go
2 days ago we got it from a asus guy...
...got an unhappy mail grom gary....
"I need you to please delete or modify your posting with the ASUS vBIOS as that is not the final version for release."
but on my g73 this beta vbios works fine.... -
Update -
1. For those still wondering, this vBIOS will include downclock support for PowerPlay but will not support Overdrive yet. That is the enhancement I have asked for plus one more voltage range.
2. I will start a new thread on the vBIOS once I am ready to post it. So far, we have tried 212 games in both CD and download mode plus the top five benchmarks and no GSODs on a system that would GSOD randomly. There is always the chance that a system might GSOD and we will handle that offline as it is nearly impossible to test multitudes of differing configurations that the user might have from a software and hardware (modded) side.
3. You will need either a bootable USB flash drive or a USB floppy drive to perform the vBIOS update.

C'mon Gary, it's 7:06 in Texas...you know, the early bird gets the worm
edit: omg, I type really slowly -
I hope they made it noob proof! I cant wait! whats the ETA on this thing? How about the 10.8?
-
-
-
I've already flagged it as such, unsupported by Asus. -
-
-
. Relax, i was just interested since Gary answeared that particular post in a to me, interesting way.
-
-
lol I'm RMAing my laptop (which just came back from RMA) if this doesn't fix it.
As in, I'm going later today to send it off. -
So thanks Gary for the updates, and please, start the thread soon with all the vBios and of course, the instructions. Should be perfect if we (as powerusers/geeks/gamers) can make a wish-list with all the features (missing and requested) for the upcoming vBioses but also for our g73. Here my first: please include overdrive support selectable at catalyst levels.
For the other hand, the upcoming drivers shall support Flash hardware acceleration and vlc hardware support? It's my understanding this features are only supported in recent catalysts. Any updates from synaptics?
Best -
Thanks for all your (you personally and your team's) hard work, Gary. I have to admit, no Overdrive support is a bit of a bummer, but I certainly can't argue with the idea of fixing the GSOD issue first. Anyway, you asked for support with that, so I'm hoping it comes soon.
Appreciate the steady updates- it definitely is nice not to be completely in the dark. -
The leaked vBios seams fine opening it in RBE.
Here are some screenshots:
I havent tested it yet and probably wont if we see an official version today. Was just a bit curious and i like collecting these in case ill need it if official wont come soon.
To all who want overdrive its easy to unlock it and i can upload and post that if youll want it after the official vBIOS is released.
Thank you for the update Gary, how is the solution to the keyboard missing keystrokes coming along? -
-
-
Sure, once its out ill do it for myself so i can upload it for the others too.
The overdrive shouldnt mess anything up and i wont force anyone to use it - as always do it at your own risk. If it GSODs for some reason and not on stock you can always reflash to the stock one (although i really doubt that would happen - the Clevo vBios also had the overdrive locked and after unlocking it i havent heard of any users (including my testing it) gettings any GSODs). -
FYI, I got the email with a few vBIOS files in it. So I will be hammering a bunch of tests on it later today. (Figures I get a busy work load today.) So yes, it appears to have some PowerPlay downclocking options, but no Overdrive yet. When I get home, I'll throw it into RBE and see what it shows, and maybe make an Overdrive edition.
I'll touch base later. -
-
"A few vBios files"?
Are there still multiple versions - are they still not sure if certain settings work and are having you test more or why would you get more than one? -
Here is the leaked vBios with Overdrive unlocked if anyone wants it:
Megaupload
Rapidshare
Checksums:
CRC32: E9DF6F39
MD5: 01605CFD060F60286D3049CD54C160C7
SHA-1: 898B60EEE5B7E7A49A5F71E9B03D0434E3E328C9
Again, i have not tested this vBios yet myself and you are flashing it at your own risk. This is just if you cant wait.
-
-
some CRC /sha-1 would be nice hellcry. Just in case...
-
Updated previous post with checksums.
-
So, ezflash does the vbios?

my g73 is in asus support due to overheating and shutting down. they tell me its waiting for a new refrigeration module. Is this a different model than original one to resolve overheating problems or is just that i am bad luck and had a faulty one in the first place?
-
-
OFF topic, and yeah, the cooling module was probably bad.
-
Heatsink is different and unique for almost every laptop model (or at least for the same GPU in that laptop - if it supports more than one GPU than there can be a different heatsink for the different GPU) so i doubt they would/could redesign it. You probably had a bent one and they had to replace it.
-
ive been following this thread for quite a while and i have a question related to the flashing of the vBIOS. Can i , instead of an usb flash drive, use something similiar like a plugging in my psp in usb mode or something like that?
-
tnks. hope that solves my problem
