Those are both valve games, so if not a steam problem, then a valve engine issue.
-
My belife is that it is stll related to c++ somthing to do with the steam lancher ideling. going to let my computer sit for a wile with and without steam running and find out if it helpf or dosn't. -
I guess its not a steam thing, but I agree that must be related to c++
-
Sounds like a more serious problem. If you can't be bothered to provide detailed system info, just do a fresh install and start from scratch.

-
Microsoft Visual C++.rar
I suggest uninstall all versions on your computer and try these versions and see if it helps.
So far is seems to fix the problem 1 day without freezing... -
-
I installed, but it freezed again =/
-
a new thing happened, it freezed, but I could move the mouse, after 3 minutes, that message appeared for all my aplitactions that were opened, look

Maybe my problem is a ram problem? -
That would normally be an indicator of a RAM issue. I sometimes get those when I am overclocking my FSB, and pushing my RAM timings.
If you boot to the Win 7 disk, you can go into Recovery Tools, there's a Memory test you can perform.
Also, I know that peeps have been having issues with updates and C++ libraries. I made a current package of all the redistributables + Silverlight 4 if someone needs to uninstall them and redo them manually.

I'm also putting it on the drivers page. -
I guess its a video problem. I guess my video board have issues. I need to use rma but on asus rma, theu give me just the option to put an american address. i bought the computer on us but I live on brazil, what can I do?
-
Contact Asus Customer Care North America and see if you can arrange an RMA there. You can email them here:

Guess it didnt fix the problem for you. If it is hardwere then ther not much i can do to help....
But if any one else hass the problem related to C++ then it can tell you that it fixes the problem for me 3 days and no freezing and it proves my therory that windows update broke C++.
Also Chasity you stole my idea about a C++ pack, you kbnwo how hard it was to find thoughs an microsoft stupid downlad wabsite.... -
You could do me a fav and check the pack and see if I missed anything.
-
lol asus answer me that to use my rma I have to live in usa! hahaha I cant believe it.
-
this is the erros that apear after the crash, when I run windows on safe mode:

I am still with my problem haha. After I decided to use my rma, they are making it very complicated. They said that I could just use the rma with an american address, so Ive being looking for someone that could help me and I finally found. Now I am going to ship my notebook (my bills, they make a notebook with problems and I have to pay the bills, such a nice consumer service). I just hope that they could solve it fast, because I use my notebook to work and thats going to be a huge prejudice to me, and, the most important thing, I hope that they send it back to me FIXED.

Sulotion: Asus G53JW freezes when gaming
Hello from sweden. After trying everything I could think of + every solution I could find on the interweb I finaly found the root of the freezing and my asus now works 100% It is 2 years old.
I had 2 problems:
1. The computer was verry slow in benchmarks and way slower in the games that did work than it should have been.
Solution:
Step 1:
I disasembaled the computer using these instructions: BTOtech.com | G53Jw & G53Sw Disassembly Take Apart G53 g53j service manual - YouTube It takes a long time but just folow the instruktions and be verry carefull I had to take it aport 2 times since i missed hooking up one cable on the underside och the mobo so check everything when you put it together again.
Step 2:
Using a hoover or compressed air remove clean the heatsinks that attatch to the back of your asus mine where so filled with dust I´m guessing allmost no airflow was possible. And dont forget to clean the fans themselves.
Step 3:
Buy some arctic silver cpu heat transfer paste, remover they heatsink from the cpu and gpu and clean verry thourougly with alcohal. Then clean the cpu, gpu and gfx card memory modules. Apply new arctic silver paste to all above mentiond parts, since the heatsink does not apply with as much force as say a heatsink on a desktop computer i reccomend using more paste than usual so you get 100% contact even on the memmor units.
I ran 3d mark 06 before doing this and only got 6700 points =( and puter was slow in windows , after the repaste and cleaning all heatsinks and fans superfast in windows and!!!!! 12800 points in 3d mark 06 + allmost doubble framerate in CS source and anno. My gpu temp (messured with gpu z) went from 80c-90c+ to 35c-70c max. I allso cut away the mesh infront of the heatsinks on the back to make better airflow and to make it possible to really vacume clean it from the outside!
Now to the freezeing problem.
I tryed everything and no matter what even after the above mod I still got 1-3 sec mini freezes when gaming. I started to google alla the componants in the asus and found that 1000´s of users where having the exakt same problem across systems Mac O/S , winxp- win8 , linux. And all of them had the same 500gb seagate HDD that we have in our asus.
The problem is supposed to be that the disk spinns down and then has to spin up again and this couses the minifreezes. Seagate do have new firmware for the disk witch i tryed but it made no differance to mine.
To try out my thery I first installed a game (worms) that was suffering the most from the freezing on the 500gb internal disk and ran it from there , same problem. Then I installed the game on my external USB disk and ran it from there 100% WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had an old 320gb WD hdd that I wasnt using, removed the seagate and installed win 8 on the WD disk and bam!! finaly no more freezing.
I was about to chuck this wonderfull laptop and buy a new one since I could not find a solution so I hope this post will help others.
If you see my post or if you are an admin plz make it sticky in root so more users can find it.

Hello all!
My Asus RoG G53JW refuses to play anything that utilizes Direct x 11!!!! Not games not even Benchmarks! Plays fine when directx 9.
So after some time trying to figure out the issue Asus support suggested to format the laptop; Did it, took me several hours to reconfigure and then re-install my stuff and still the same. Then the support suggested that I should send it somewhere in order to evaluate if they will repair it with the sending part being my responsibility in the case of damage etc. Also they suggested that I might have dropped my 1000 euro laptop thus creating the issue. I would sincerely appreciate any assistance guys. I am starting to feel that Asus's after sales practice is to leave its high-paying customers by themselves without any form of actual support. Any assistance would be highly appreciated. -

Hi!
I just want to thank this thread, and share my problem and solution
I also have a G53J for 4 years without problems. Suddenly I start suffering the same problem: after 3 or 4 minutes playing ANY game the entire PC freeze.
I restailled Windows and disassemble the notebook to clean it, and the problem still happening.
But I read in this thread the unplug battery fix, and that's my problem! Just playing without the battery plugged and no more freezes
Thanks again!!
