There's overreactions but many are out their daily laptop. Tack on delays insecurity of the future of the hardware and it's only natural. This is a significant investment for most of us and complications do not pass lightly.

Installed Vista SP2 on the W90 today... still seems to be working
That's good news at least. -
Where is firingsquad located? (Yeah I'm too lazy to look)
The reason I ask is because in the review they mention that their unit has two 160Gb drives in RAID config.
"ASUS ships the system with two 160GB 7200 RPM hard drives from Seagate striped together in a RAID 0 array,"
Makes me wonder if this isn't actually a European or asian revision, and could account for the lack of an exact model designation. -
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000/Intel Core 2 Duo T9600
Chipset Intel Express X38 chipset
System Memory 6GB (3x2GB)
Graphics ATI Mobility Radeon® HD4870 x2 512M DDR3 VRAM (Cross Fire)
Display 18.4 Full HD (1920x1080) Color-Shine (Glare-type),Asus Splendid Video Intelligent Technology
Storage 2xSeagate Momentus 7200.3 (320GB)
it looks like they make refrence to both systems..
edit: upon further inspection, maybe they think that the total drive space is 320gb (2x 160gb hdd), when in reality they mean 640gb (2x 320gb) -
But here is what they report using:
http://firingsquad.com/hardware/asus_w90vp_review/page8.asp
" Ballistics Report
Performance: Packing two Mobility Radeon 4870’s, dual hard drives, and a 2.8GHz Core 2 CPU with 6MB of cache, it obviously goes without saying that the W90Vp is a powerful performer. The system delivered very playable frame rates even with the detail levels cranked up and the system running at its native res of 1920x1080. Crysis nearly hit 30 fps with high settings at this res. Other demanding games like STALKER also ran well."Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

yeah, i wasn't debating that... i was just saying that might be why they just refer to it as the w90 from there-on-out... to them the a1, x1, or x2 doesn't make a difference... because technically you could make an x1 an a1... get what i mean?
-
-
let's just hope that they do mean the x1, and that asus will fix the w90 problems... i guess we'll now within' a few weeks...
hey striker, when you talked to ken, did he say there is absolutely no chance of a shipment tomorrow? -

Quad is right. They didn't care to modify the review. If it is such a concern, I'd recommend *you* contact them and raise your concerns. If something is chapping your hide that much, take action instead of waiting for someone to do it for you.

Someone called earlier today and the conversation went something like this .
Asus : Hi this is Asus home of the still in production W90 how can i help you.
Caller : did you guys stop making the W90?
Asus : Nope
Caller :Are your sure ?
Asus : Yep
Caller: K thanks
Asus : Have a great day .

I'm pretty sure as well that the review was written at an earlier date and just recently posted.
For ASUS to drop a relatively new model just like that (especially a well selling one at that) just seems too odd at best.
I would expect to see another 2 or 4 models of the W90Vp line before they run off and start something new.
ASUS is not some new kid on the block Striker, they know what they are doing and have been doing it for years. They aren't going to run scared over a few bad units. The problems will be fixed and they'll continue on.
People like to think that manufacturing problems get solved in the blink of an eye. Well it just doesn't happen that way. It takes time with a good amount of R&D to solve a problem and then correct it.
I'm sure the new units will be in good standing order -

The CPU and Blue Ray are cheaper than you think, the Laptop was $1100 and the Bluray was $105 the chip was less than $400.00 the monitor was $300 so I still have cash remaining to buy a sweet bag and get severely inebriated.

ok presidents and troll guards with unique uniforms. it seems that the changes since i went to bed is that the review for availability may be only for the x1 model. thats good
and Ken told me yesterday that he doesnt have any info that w90 is stopped. he told me asus is just pressing the machines overseas.
and as a summary even though i dont know where Striker takes his information from there are many many other reviews for w90 and no one says anything about availability or discontinued production. Asus also ensures that the production still continues. and i personally dont find any reason that they lie because the one who calls could just be one who wants to buy but didnt preorder already.
so maybe only Dual-zilla is died. Quad-zilla is now president
patience my friends patience. -

Scuba my friend i know that the 4890 Desktop card is out, i was speaking about the 4890m which i thought would have been obvious , after all we are on a "notebook" forum.
