X-25 80GB solid state drive has a MTBF (mean time before failure) of:
171.119329 years that equals,
62 500 days that equals,
1.5million hours that equals,
5 400 000 000 seconds that equals,
5.4 × 1012 milliseconds that equals,
5.4 × 1015 microseconds witch meens,
I will die before my HDD does LOL!!!!!! SSD is the way to go for both speed and reliability!!! And it uses less than 1/4 the power of a traditional HDD. -
It's still 12:02pm over in California
so maybe... hahaha...
-
I believe you misunderstand MTBF. A MTBF of 171 years means the probability of failure within 5 years is 2.88%, whereas 5.68% within 10 years. (suppose exponential distribution, a brief but general model).
-
well
<_<

it is still pretty damn good -
I just act like DATA

LOL!!! SO DO I!!! i hate those snobby jerks. they tried to block my account because i was sending emails via outlook witch is perfectly fine... jerks

Mobility modder does not support our cards but I tried it anyways. No joy. Haven't found a modded inf yet. Right now I have no issues under 9.4 and do not have one of the games (listed) where performance was increased but I wanted to scope em out anyways. If I run across something and it isnt already up I will link to it.
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
it will be very interesting if you do so.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/catalyst-9-5_7.html#sect0 -
yeah it didn't work for HD4570 either, but if you try the traditional way it might work by going to Update driver> don't search, I'll choose the driver to install> Have disk> browse the driver folder.
It worked for me when I was trying to install driver for F6Ve on Windows XP. -
i'm guessing no shipment in today, huh ken?
-
Yeah no shipment today, that's too bad.
-
Hey Ken. I tried have disk and It didnt install. If ya got some other ideas go ahead and let me know and I'll try em.
-
Well Ken you gave me an idea to try an old trick and it worked. I have the 9.5s installed and both cards are aboard. I'll get to gaming here later on and see what shakes. Got to go pay attention to the ol lady for a while as I was hoping to get lucky tonight.
-
Man, that is too funny!
-
how did you install 9.5?
-
still wait for modded inf
-
Good luck with that... my lady is too pregnant to kick in...
Got the 9.5's to install, just wanted to see if you did the same thing i did:
Mob Modded the drivers, used the desktop 4870 config but changed the Hardware ID to my cards, and then went to the config details and changed the Desktop_SoftwareSettings to Mobile_SoftwareSettings which was created with the Mob Mod. Then for CCC, downloaded the 9.5 mobility drivers for win7 x64 and just installed the CCC.
Is that what you did?
Anyway, now yall can give it a shot if you like. Im gonna do some testing.
edit: seems that method only utilizes one card... strange. gonna do some more testing -
I reinstalled the 9.4s as a desktop 4870X2 and from there installed the 9.5s via have disk as the same part. You get a warning saying that your hardware does not match the software but it will (sometimes, doesn't always work) allow you to force the install. In this case it worked. Or at least seemed to, 9.5 shows with linked adapters and lists as Radeon HD 4870X2 in device manager. Proofs in the pudding though, will need to run benchmarks tomorrow.

electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
Intel 5350 works fine in the W90Vp. I took it all apart and reseated my GPUs, applied some fresh AS5 and popped the 5350 in to replace the stock Wifi card.
I like how Asus slaps ID/# stickers on just about everything I've replaced or has been replaced:
CPU
DVDRW
WiFi
Memory
Installed 9.5's. I'm not seeing any performance gains in WoW or Vantage vs. 9.4's (flashed cards earlier) at stock.
Everything is running rock solid. Really lovin' this machine. -
I actually decided to go with the Win7 version of the drivers because they support the mobility cards without modification. Recreated the entire inf and the drivers installed properly. I also noticed that there is a slightly warranted difference in the configs for the desktop vs the mobility (I know what you want to say... just keep it to yourself...
) in the win7 inf, and just wanted be on the safe side.
Testing now...
edit: Same outcome... still seems to only be using one card... temp for the second card never leaves 46c until I am at my desktop with no apps running then it is at 48. crysis shows -6fps and 3dmark dropped ~1200 points.
Done fiddling for now... back to 9.4 -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
will someone upload the modified files?
-
How about some benchmarks for us
.
-
haha, this is why you are so cool ken.
oh yeah, thanks for the info about the shipment... hey, just wondering, justin from xotic said he was going to get a shipment in the last week of may, is this true for you too? or is june 2nd the d-day? -
Last week of May will next week to Asus NA and by the time it delivered to resellers could be first week of June.
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
Go Ken go! we are based on you.
-
Would anyone be so kind and give me more info on the screen used in their Asus W90`s. Some info on manufecturer, resolution and ID.
Thanks in advance. -
So has anyone confirmed that the Windows 7 RC Post build 7127 enables Crossfire? I'm getting multiple stories regarding this. Supposedly it does, supposedly it doesn't.
-
Greetings. First time poster, long-time lurker. Must say this is an amazing thread: some great info with dedicated posters.
I ordered my W90vp-X2 from the Egg earlier this week and it's on its way, expected delivery this Tuesday (one of the only times I've wished Monday wasn't a holiday in US...) I have two questions: the first I haven't seen any details in this thread on, the second I've seen conflicting details:
1. What is the exact model number for the 320GB HD in the W90? I've tracked down that it's a Seagate Momentus, but there are three SKUs: [/LIST]
ST9320421AS
ST9160411AS
ST980411AS
I went with the X2 version since I didn't want to pay $350 extra for a BR drive. I would, however, like to add another HD for RAID 0 (anyone do this yet...?) I'd prolly be ok with any of the Momentus, but would rather make sure I had the matching models.
2. How high does the Asus OC util push the x9000? I've heard 2.3ghz, 2.5, 2.8...
X2s are in stock now btw at Newegg. -
You can push the Q9000 to around 2.75ghz , some 2.7 and others a touch lower . You will have to experiment yourself(all processors are not equal) but i would say you should be able crank that betty up pretty high without any issues.
Dont remember the drive model off hand sorry but im sure someone can chime in on that in a bit . -
Not good. I use a stock clock on the gpu and the 15% clock on the cpu to test drivers as its an easy configuration to get into. I started a game of Demigod last night before I went to bed (fun, wasn't benchmarking) and performance was down visibly. I alt tabbed out and started fraps and sure enough my frame rate had dropped from bouncing 60 into the 30s and 40s. I decided to make a quick 06 run and that went from 12982 down to 10800 some odd. The lower score didn't come as a surprise as I could see the rate was down while it was running. I do have heat on both gpus. Overall this doesn't appear to be the way to go as it looks like a hosed install and I'm going to revert back to 9.4 and contemplate the next step.
-
Same here... seems only one card is being utilized. Its strange cuz the drivers should differentiate between a single card, and cards in crossfire, but that doesnt seem to be happening with 9.5. only the primary works hard... gets up to about 85C while the second stays @ 46C. Normally the primary doesnt pass 79C.
want to do a bit more research... but also want to play a couple games... I will make tonight a long night and try again. -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
so you think that will be released a driver for 4870s so as to use both cards on windows 7? i mean for the mobile 4870s
-
Yeah, somethings up when you see that kind of drop and not using both cards would be my first guess. I will fiddle more tonight if I get a chance. I did show linked adaptor and both cards showed in device manager and had the drivers installed.
-
Need to get a driver modder involved again with the W90 . E-wrecked used to help out with the drivers but hes not on anymore . You could try and message him and see if he would mod the 9.5s properly for your machine and maybe for Win7 as well.
-
Thanks, that's what I was hoping. Can you just push the OC to 2.7ghz with the ASUS utilility or do you need to adjust the fsb (which I assume is locked down...)?
Figured out the HD model: there is only one Seagate Momentus 320gb 7800.3 drive. I was looking at different sized models. Ordered.
Another question... If I did want to upgrade to Blu-ray drive sometime down the line, who makes this drive for Asus/what model is it? -
I AM SOOO SAD!!!!! i just found a russian world war 2 .44 cal revolver that is not in working condition and i was just told to turn it in... I WANT IT!!! i am russian after all......... tis sux...
i thought that if i had a fire arm that was in non operational state that i could get some paper work filled to be able to take it home WT F is gong on?!?!?! -
Youll need to use Setfsb to get it that high but its a no brainer to use.
Any sata laptop blu ray drive will work . -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
quadzilla any idea how much a qx9300 can be overclocked then?
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah, and make sure it is a 12.7mm form factor!
You can find them on eBay, or places like here:
http://www.fazecomputers.net/servlet/StoreFront
-
Id say for everday use without any issues at all 2.9ghz . You can run it right at 3.0 but sometimes will run into some stability issues, but 2.9 was fine all the time. The CPU just needs more voltage
not sure if Asus will ever provide it though but one can hope.

Im using vista x64, just used the win7 x64 drivers because they are pretty much the same, and the win 7 drivers actually support mobile 4870s by default. I figured this would be better than trying the desktop version, but both the vista x64 desktop driver and the win7 x64 mobile driver produce the same outcome, which is fishy... there is no way that ATI/AMD would leave the crossfire tech out of the drivers, so im wondering what the h3ll is going on here.
If there are any testers that want to try the two infs i made, pm me with which one you want. (vista x64 4870 x2 Desktop, or Win7 x64 4870 mobile (can be used for vista x64 as well)) -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
what you mean win7 x64 support both 4870s in crossfire by default?
-
I made note of this myself. These identifiers jive with what you show?

If anyone is looking to upgrade your W90 to 12 gigs of ram, I have 3 sticks of Patriot PC2-6400 CL6 unopened for $450 via paypal free usps priority shipping for US buyers only.
2 sticks in one package part number PSD28G800SK
1 stick in package part number PSD24G8002S
I bought these from Newegg and my wifie also did the same thing as a surprise. If interested just send me a email. Thanks. -
The 9.5 catalyst for win7 supports the 4870 card. Normally, ATI leaves making drivers for mobility cards up to the notebook manufaturer, but with the win7 9.5 drivers, the 2000, 3000, aand 4000 series cards can use the driver.

So if we should wait asus to make driver for win7..... we should wait months.
