hey ken, you have any 280m's down there??
-
Unfortunately I don't.
By the way, I installed the driver from CCC 9.5 :
Both card must be master by follow Vicious Guide here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=371558
By use have disk trick I can install any new drivers from ATI. -

Hmm see I am confused, there have been numerous reports saying that the control panel and windows shows CF working but in real gaming or benches it is not. So its hard to tell if its working unless somebody states that they have tested it and it works, you need to test with something like 3dmark09 Vantage, as a game like say TF2 will max out with just one card easy so you wont even notice the 2nd card is not working. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Hmm strange one says 4850 X2, other says 4870 X2, wonder if I had a typo in the .inf files and never noticed, or if your install is just unusual
-
Vicious, remember I said you have eagle eyes? you do.
I picked the wrong driver from the list, how about now

Looks good, now I just need probably 2 more days till I get mine back and I can do some serious win 7 testing.
and some SSD testing (I wish) lol
Psycho send a fellow marine one of those SSD's you dont need two of them

Ken do the gpus work in crossfire after configuring both as master? by the way this is the method i would use in any case. i mean the have disk method.
-
Ok, so you have 9.5 working in crossfire. What is the have disc trick? I must have missed something somewhere.
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
this is when you select drivers from a folder .not automatically search for them on computer or on windows update
-
darn...if ya did...i was sure thinking of driving down there and picking one or two up....
-
Ok Im not sure I fully understand, hey Ken did you flash both cards to master, then just use the 9.5 off ATI website and use have disc to tell it where to look. Or did you modify .INF? or what? Sorry Im a bit slow on some of this tech stuff
-
Hey Ken, did you run any tests with the 9.5 installed? A couple of us got em installed, only to find out that only 1 card was working when running benches and games. The card would show up in the CCC as linked and would be picked up in device manager, but games/benches would have bad framerates, and checking the CCC immediately after would have one card in the mid to high 80s and the second in the low 40's for temps... like it was unused.
-
For those of you running the Windows 7 RC build 7127 or 7137 and think that you have managed to get Crossfire to work.....it still doesnt work...even though the 9.5 mobility drivers install without a hitch and you get that little "enable crossfire" check box in the CCC window.....All benchmarks are on par with SINGLE CARD results.

Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
so finally even though we get crossfire on ccc only one gpu works? this is insane
-
If you install 9.5 with Master/Master and enable crossfire, only one card is working according to gpuid. I have Vantage tested everything, do you guys want me to post all the vantage scores?
-
Yeah that is exactly my setup...the master/master...in windows 7.
So are you able to get it working with Master/Slave in crossfire in 7 without the second card not showing up as disfunctional? -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
so we are stuck with vista for now?
-
Someone mentioned there was a newer build then even the RC that fixes the Crossfire issue ? atleast i thought i read that right but i would think that would just come in a hot fix vs having to get a whole new version of Win7 .
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
win7 build 7137 is the latest out there. if you want to test try this build
i think that someone said that a simple update through windows update worked? even this doesnt work finally? -
Actually, last week build 7137 came out as well
http://windows7news.com/2009/05/28/windows-7-build-7137-leaked/ -
where can i get this said build of windows 7?
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
u can find torrent here
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/...ild-7137-leaked-32-bit-and-64-bit-iso-images/
maybe the only way for crossfire on win7 is to install the asus driver? anyone tried? we can install this if works and then wait. -
Wow. So yea, finding out Windows has basically been "lying" to me has put a nice cramp in my day.
Ran GPU-Z. "Disabled (Crossfire Available)"
Enabled in CCC and everything. Damn what a bummer. Back to Vista I go.
It's seriously odd though. I've ran Vantage before to see how it went. It truly looked as if the second card was enabled. The fact that I am able to read the temperature of the second card and watch it peak around 77 degrees while running Vantage had my hopes up too.
*shrugs* Oh well. Thems the breaks. -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
why are you sure its not gpuz issue with win7 and its the driver then?
-
Y thnkya ser ^_^
-
Bleh. I dunno. I considered that also. GPU-Z not being updated for Win 7 and whatnot.
Waiting for a reply with the norm scores with one card vs two to better test the system.
Edit: I'd search, but searching seems to be disabled at the moment? -
Try running Vantage. You get half the gpu score as with Asus 8.55 drivers. Thats why 9.5's crossfire is not working. Gpuid says it not and same with Vantage. Also some asked if you can get Master\Slave to work on Windows 7 and yes you can if you install Asus stock drivers.
-
We don't have enough, the shipment is so small.
Yes I did flash both card to master, if I don't then one card on device manager will have red X.
I didn't use any mod inf, I just download the driver from ATI and manually install the driver by choose "have disk" and browse the drivers folder. -
Has anyone tried 7127 or 7137 with 9.5 and Master\Slave?
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
the shipment expected tommorrow will fullfil our preorders Ken? -
yay! ken installed my drivers and everything!! w00t. he said he reccomends 624/760 on setfsb.. how fast is that on the q9000?
-
Yes I just did the test for both 9.5 and 9.4:
Q9000 OC 15% with 9.5 driver:
3DMark06 : 10958
Q9000 OC 15% with E-Wreck's 9.4 mod driver
3DMark06: 12966 -
hey ken, does that mean i want the 9.4 driver over the 9.5 one??
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
i prefer to keep the default one anyway. i will test later on some modifications.

snail mail me a SSD and I will send it back with a DVD
J/K look on some torrent sites is probably the best way.
PM me and I can tell you the two I trust most. Going to try to go to bed now, have not slept in like 2 days so see you guys later tonight when I get to work. I may have my W90 tomorrow, but if shipment is on the 2nd and its overnight, probably wont have it till the 3rd.
edit: nvm you got a link a page or so back, I thought I was on the last page of the thread already. -

Dunno I just go by FSB, I was able to get like 370fsb for my 2.7ghz overclock stable 100% under load.
Can go a bit higher with care but would not trust it for something important like rendering a video as it maybe not stable.
The cpu was not the limit though I am sure it was my ram.
Unless your really unlucky I would venture that 2.6ghz is something you can expect with a 99% success rate. -
9.4 seem working fine, only one card is working with 9.5 for some reason, maybe we need mod inf in order for it to work properly.
Yes 624/760 is 2.6Ghz and it seem very stable. -
Yeah... the second card is not working... that 10k score is just one card. Still working on getting 9.5 to work properly on the mobility... but not sure if its worth it since there will probably be a 9.6 coming out very soon. I may just wait until that one comes.
-
So just to get things straight because I'm seeing multiple scenarios and whatnot...What drivers work with Crossfire enabled in Win 7? So far, I've gathered that:
9.5 - No
9.4 - Yes?
Stock ASUS Vista Drivers - Yes? -
Got my bad boy processing for its preorder now, hopefully itll run more smoothly than some of you guys..
Is it just windows 7 that the 9.5 isnt working on or on all of the versions? -
how does one card just add like 2k-3k points to the benchmark?? shouldn't it be like, half and half?
-
You'd like it to be half and half but thats not always the case
Crossfire never doubles performance despite doubling the processing power unfortunately.
-
Not really. All Crossfire/SLI normally does is make high quality renders easier to push to higher resolutions. Or so I'm told.
-
It's the CPU, people getting 17K on 3DMark06 with QX9300 overclocked, if the Crossfire is not capable then we won't get 17K with CPU overclocked.
-
oh.. i didn't know that. thanks for the info...
on a brighter note: ken said my w90 is being shipped out later today. WAHOOOOOOOOOO! i can almost officially be apart of the w90 club. -
congratulations, kimdoocheol!
-sits back to wait for information on hers- =] -
you know im talking about the 280m gtx right???
-
Waiting veeeeery patiently to hear back from GenTech.
-
9.4 works with both cards, if you follow my guide.
1. You must have Master\Master setup!
2. Install Windows 7
3. Install Ati mobility 9.5 driver from setup.exe and do not use the have disk way! Drivers
4. Reboot!
5. After you reboot go into CCC and you will see Crossfire is an options now. Make sure its enabled. Even though it says it enable GPUID says it not, i'll get to that later.
6. Delete the C:\ati folder.
7. In the tools you got for flashing your gpus there was a 9.4 ati driver. Run the setup so that it extracts to c:\ati. Cancel it after it extracts the files (Dont install !!!!).
8. Mod the drivers in the ati folder with E-Wrecks mod.
9. Now go into device manager and use the have disk method. Point it to the ati folder that you modded. -
I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the help =)
Edit: On a completely different topic...I know the W90VP-X1's shipped out with 3x 2GB DDR2 667MHz sticks...is this the maximum speed this system is capable of? Just curious.
