tekian, I read somewhere that with another processor / upgrade it got up to 12gb. I'm not sure whether or not it was legit, but thats what I perceived from what I saw.

What i would like to do is get Master\Slave to work with 9.5. I have gone through the drivers and am working on it. I already saw the r300 files and im trying to mash the drivers together.

I'm actually benchmarking both 9.5 unmodded and MadHatter's guide right at this moment. I'll post results in a bit.

When you compare Windows 7 to Vista, Windows 7 sucks in Vantage.

Eh. I'm more or less using Vantage just to see if both cards are working together or not

So far, I've benched my current setup with 9.5 and the Windows Update method I mentioned earlier.

Tis upsetting. 5860 with crossfire disabled in CCC, 5901 with crossfire enabled.

About to do your guide and see what happens.

Yea. Win 7 7127 RC, CPU Tests disabled, but no other tweaks to the tests besides that.

Edit: Benching your guide now. Will post results in about 10-15 minutes.

Regarding Vantage and ATI and Windows 7...found an interesting post in the Futuremark forum. This might be food for thought
And a further discussion about using the PPU flag.

    Win 7 7127 RC Benchmark
Crossfire is now INDEED working on Windows 7
    ATI 9.5 vs E-Wrecked 9.4 Modded
Thanks MadHatter for the steps provided!

Benchmark was tested using the 9.5 CCC from ATI and the E-Wrecked 9.4 drivers from Vicious' guide. Supposedly the E-Wrecked 9.4 drivers enable the use of both cards in Crossfire when the 9.5 does not (Even though it says enabled in CCC). From what I'm able to gather, this wasn't the case with the first RC (7100). Something with 7127 changed that, and Crossfire is now indeed working.

Two tests on 3DMark Vantage were done with each driver, one with CF enabled and one with it disabled. No CPU Tests (GPU Only), but no other tweaks besides that.

Using W90VP-X1 with the 2.8Ghz processor overclocked to 3.2Ghz. 4GB 800Mhz DDR2 ram (My stock was corrupted).

    ATI 9.5 Test Results

With Crossfire Disabled via CCC : 5860
With Crossfire Enabled via CCC: 5901

Mid-Test Edit: Where GPU-Z would report the 9.5 drivers left Crossfire disabled, even though it was enabled in CCC, the 9.4 E-Wrecked ones have GPU-Z reporting that Crossfire is indeed enabled now. Benching to make sure. Things are looking up however! :D

    E-Wrecked 9.4 Drivers Results

With Crossfire Disabled via CCC: 5856
With Crossfire Enabled via CCC: 10340

Edit: I just also realized that I had restarted my computer before the 4th test and forgot to re-enable the turbogear 17% overclock. Still. Vast improvement regardless.

    Edit 2: Pictures

I'm still waiting for Ken to get back to me, but considering the shipments coming in, I'm wouldnt be surprised at the amount of people hounding him right now. Haha.

On a side note, should I install the BIOS myself? (Considering the problems present) Or should I ask Ken to do it like a couple of members did?

EDIT: Nice job, tekian. Glad to see improvements on some ends, haha =]

The BIOS upgrade really easy with ASUS EZFlash. Download the BIOS. Save it to a flash drive. Restart, ALT-F2 at Post, browse to the bios, flash.

Keep laptop plugged in and all that necessary stuff =).

(The flash drive part might not be mandatory. I just read somewhere that people had issues flashing a BIOS image that's stored on anything other than a FAT32 drive. I was able to flash from my main hard drive without issues though)

I have a new 9.5 driver for 7127. Tekian try these out and let me know if they work for you. Use the have disk method and then install 9.5 custom no drivers picked. Run Vantage and let me know if Crossfire is working. Thanks.

I would try them out, but my computer is at home and im at work.

My W90 is back tomarrow, I will have to d/l 7127 and give it some benching.

Id like to see if any games have increase in performance, mainly Crysis since that was the only game I had even semi low frames in.

Was Much More When I Just Did It:

$3697 w/ extended warranty to match Asus's (still no accident coverage)
    or
    $3399 w/ standard warranty

Here is what I had to do.

    $1799 BASE

-Change CPU to Q9000 (and we dont know if it can be overclocked yet)
-Change Video Cards to 2x GTX 280
-Change LCD to 1920x1200 as its much closer than 1440x900
-Change RAM to 6GB of the cheapest 1066mhz
-Change HDD from single to two 320GB Drives
-Change Optical Drive to BlueRay Rom

With this config your looking at a smaller screen with a bit more resolution, and probably a bit more gpu power but we dont know if you can overclock the cpu to really keep up with the gpu anyways so you may be forced to get a faster cpu with this laptop, the QX9300 would make it over $4000

Summary, Asus W90VP-A1 owns the All Powerfull without a doubt in value and is not going to be far behind on performance.

Lets of the Sager/Clevo M98 can do better.

Hey guys between ASUS G51(July 2009 Release), G71G-Q2 and W90Vp which one would you recommend?
The only thing that is stopping me from buying W90Vp is weight and I wouldn't want to carry 15lbs to school everyday + books.
I also like OLED and back and side lights of G71.
As for G51 it will come out in July featuring Geforce G260m and a brand new cool looking design.

If its for school I wouldnt look at a big/expensive game laptop at all, id get something small/cheap with good battery life and just get a good desktop to come home and game on.

I think these gaming laptops best fit other areas.

People That: Travel, Only go from A to B, LAN parties, Just want one computer for both desktop & latptop.

I fit the From A to B only part. I take it form home to work and from work to home. just one trip and only set it up onetime a day so the larger size is a good thing not a bad thing letting me enjoy a nice big desktop like computer that can fold up and go in a bag.

The thing is I don't use my laptop in the classroom...ever. I am in a community college, most people don't even have a laptop or don't bring it to school, so generally nobody in the class uses a laptop. The only time I use it is after the class during 1hour gap until the next class or when i stay at the library after school.
My biggest worry is carrying it on my shoulders every day. Is it really that heavy that it will strain my back from a daily carrying?

Na, I mean a good bag will even out the weight, but it is heavy for a laptop. The stock bag wont hold nearly as many books as i used to carry around in school. Id say its overkill for school but the weight is not an issue, it will just make you stronger.

If I think back to the marines the amount of gear and weight we had to carry and how far we had to go with it makes the W90 look as hard as carrying around a helium filled balloon.

Still though I wouldnt take a W90 to school I dont think, its big/heavy and too valuable.

Id sport the PSP, or Nintendo DS (course when I was in school it was gameboy color lol)

is overclocking affected with the new drivers and the new version of windows? I remember that some W90 owners haven't noticed any increases in performance when increasing the frequencies in ATi overdrive. It could also be that they may be overclocking one card and not the other, which in that case, would lead to no improvement since the results would be limited by the slower card.

lol I don't need to know how hardcore marine is. I remember carrying a duffel bag during the basic military training (USAF) that weigh more than me (I was so skinny at that time). It was the worst time of my military life. I won't forget carrying a hundred pound duffel bag in the freaking heat and then the TI made us do Double Time, oh that was so not fun!!!.

I don't need PSP or NDS. I need a laptop. I don't just need it for gaming, I need it for other things too. School Projects and Homeworks, Stock Trading. I'll be using Adobe After Effects. Eclipse (Java) and Visual Studio C++ (C++). My activities are very diverse, so it's not just for gaming. The reason why I want this bad boy gaming machine is because I want to play my favorite games on maximum which I could never previously do before. Not even with my G1S a year ago. That thing would die on Crysis on High Settings.
I want to play Sims 3, WoW, GTA IV, SW: The Old Republic and Mass effect 1 & 2. I know W90 can handle them all like nothing. Which is why I want to go with this laptop. Even though it may be a over kill for School or other things that I do.

    So what do you say?
PS: I used to own ASUS M70Vm (17" multimedia laptop) it wasn't that bad at all. I am not sure how much heavier is W90vp though.

The M70VM weighed in at 8lbs (~4 kg) i believe... the w90 is 12lbs (~5.5 kg) plus the power brick is about 3lbs (~1.5 kg) bag is about 3lbs so you are looking at ~18lbs (~8.5 kg) to lug back and forth daily... which in all honesty is less heavy than it seems. the backpack design seems to diffuse some of the weight and its pretty comfortable.

If you are looking to play your games maxed out and fluently... w90 all the way. the others just dont have the output with a single DECENT graphics card.
