dam you beat me by alot. are your gpu's overclocked?

 

DMC4 benchmark has one bad quality, the movie it uses is random, as its AI controlled so thats why you will see some minor fluctuation in scores making it hard to compare without several runs for an average.

 

wow, that w90 just killed the ocz. any official 3dmark 06 scores yet for the w90?

even if quad over clocked his...it would only be 50 mhz right now. so that's basically calling it stock any way...

 

No OC on the GPU. Ive got about 40 games installed so far so if anyone has some requests of the favorite game and how it will run lemme know i probably bought it .

 

To put it in perspective, when maxxed out in DMC4, Quadzilla's system is scoring similarly to a desktop 9800 GX2 @ 760mhz core, 1900mhz shaders and 1100mhz memory. (2200mhz effective):

i am going to do some os tweaks but i dont think there will be any improvement.

dmc doesnt really carfe for you cpu to much as long as you run dual core it wont affect performance. i ran mines at 2.53, 3.06, 3.2, quad and dual core and there was nothing what so ever. (maybe gave or take 2-5fps but not 10 or something like that)

ViciousXUSMC is still downloading updates more than likely. plus getting a feel for the machine. i would rather him get a feel for the machine than to put his review up all lickity split

 

during fights it averages around 80s it seems, sometimes down to even 60s depending on the scenario then up to 300 lol the framerate is all over the place .

Ok guys I have the crysis bench runs done, all except DX10 32bit, for some reason it crashes when I run that test.

These are baseline results, no gpu overclock, no driver update, just stock out of the box.

Crysis 1.2 All Test Very High on everything with res at 1920x1080 no AA

So looks like DX9 is way faster than DX10, we are stuck with old drivers here, the new drivers are supposed to be faster in DX10 mode.
From the overclock you can see a small boost in fps showing there may be a slight cpu bottleneck, once I do the overclocked gpu runs it will make it more clear if its the cpu or gpu that needs to go faster for higher frames.

As it stands DX9 is totally playable maxed out but DX10 is not.

 

Something is really screwy with these ATI drivers because if i disable catalyst AI (which should disable crossfire) i get the same exact numbers be it 3dmark or crysis and there is no disable crossfire button in the control panel .
Also say i change the catalyst AI mid game (alt tab- switch to advanced or disable ) my framerates tank to the 10s till i reboot . So something is fishy and i wish i understood how the ATI cards ticked . Ah well more stuff to figure out and the never ending battle of me vs the my computer continues .

 

I have dual 4850's in my desktop and it is reported as two seperate 4850's in crossfirex.

in the W90 the cards are reported as a 4870X2, so Asus has fooled the system into thinking its a X2 card and not two seperate cards.

The AI is just a scaling thing, normal goes for quality, and advanced goes for performance. Turning it off I am not sure what effect that can have.

 

Everything i have read thus far about crossfire states that Disable is supposed to enable only one card, but since the machine thinks its only one card essentially then even disabling it may have no effect at all because your not really disabling one card when it only thinks you have one to begin with . that was a mouthful .Now here is the other side of the coin what if i disable it via the bios ? what will we be running then ? half a card ? ill mess around with it maybe in the next day or so and see what happens .

 

im beginning to think it's this.
1: naming is wrong. it should be
ATI Radeon Mobility 4870 or ATI Radeon Mobility 4870 x2 or ATI Radeon Mobility x2 4870
2: the mother board has a master and slave slot, not a master and slave bios.
3: the cards them selves are using a master and slave bios. when they should be using the same bios.

notice on the card on the right that it says 2.0PCI 16@16x but not 2.0 like the one on the left ? might be nothing but interesting nonetheless as both slots support the 2.0

 

can you tell which one is the mater and which one is the slave?

 

Well if its in order from the pull down tab then the one on the left is the master , same as in the catalyst control panel. i also noticed my master card runs much hotter at idle and was what inspired me to pull the heatsink off and redo the compound . When you take a look at some of the pics from E-'s old rig it seemed his cards were pretty much the same temps all the time from what i remember, as where mine is about a 15 degree difference according to the CCC.

Just did DMC4 and it did very well, I say on par with the dual core results.

I could not get a pic though as I need to install fraps and dont have a key currently. Print screen wont work.

I could not get the game to start at all until I uninstalled Asus Splendid, atleast I think that is what fixed it.

i was tripping off the water/physx. it has a benchmark int he demo version though.

Wow i just got done testing out Empire total war i cant believe how amazing it runs on this machine . On high its 90fps and Ultra its 70 the naval battles started out at 100fps truly amazing stuff .

Wow i just hit 10 on my rep lol. People seem to be very stingy with rep,yet i throw it out there like a who*re at the docks when the sailors just rolled in .

Thats how it is, so many questions I answer for people directly, I can be the only one that answers and nobody reps me, most of my rep power is from my seniority & post count.

cs3 full install installed in 7 min's 52 seconds.
edit: to open 25 (19 adobe cs3 modules and 6 office 2007 module) windows at the same time....1.32 seconds

 

Hey Quad, do you have Fallout 3 installed? I am just curious how that plays with everything turned up. While in Iraq, that is the first game I plan on playing, then looking at Total War or GTA 4 . . .
