Most often it is on the other side :(

Im thinking of just tracking down common PLL for the P35 chipset and going from there.

That is correct. I'm sitting here refreshing, been doing that for like 2 weeks. Also I would not believe their ETA times, proven incorrect.

Well you could always just go the Xotic route and snag one, that way you are guaranteed to get one . I only opted for the X1 because i wanted more out of box game power, but i will say that i could have gone the other way and grabbed the Xotic model because ill be throwing in a Qx9300 sooner rather then later(had planned waiting sometime but im bad at waiting :)) and at that point i would have got the extra harddrive and Blu ray player for basically the same amount of scratch.

Quads work no problem in the x1 as well correct? Taking i go that route. The blueray player would be really nice, the hard drive i can live without really and would actually prefer going ssd before i got another mech drive. This laptop will be lugged around a decent amount and id rather go with the stability of an SSD then a mech drive.

I have no reason for a quad core at this present time but I can imagine sc2 will take advantage of them. Im just hoping that if i get the x1 that ill have the cash for a quad by the time sc2 rolls around :)

Cash has me strapped down to the point that more or less only way i can afford it is to get it shipped to a friend in Michigan that will bring it over for free :) Gah, student life -.-

I'm seriously considering A1 route at this point, I was not able to catch X1 so far, and I don't know if I have time for that hunt anymore. What worries me is how much of a gaming power do you lose with quad, are we talking 10 FPS on crysis, or 5? If its very insignificant number, then hell with it, I'll get A1.What I dont understand is how come Xotic wants $417 for p9600???

i just spent 380 on a SSD drive so 450 for a qx9300 would be well with in my realm.. :)
    http://computers.shop.ebay.com/item...flnZ1QQ_sacatZ3667QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em282

prices are looking pretty good on the qx9300 front.

Yes im ready to grab one soon and even more so for $450 problem is that price almost seems to good to be true ? i was thinking going OEM because im not positive on which of the ES models are the way to go . Are my chance of reaching monster OCs better if i go the Oem route vs ES ? lotsa questions i guess .

That $417 extra is because your still buying the whole PC with the Q9000 then your paying the full whack for the extra CPU and in turn they provide the warranty with it .

Ok say I get A1, then when I come back for Europe I can buy Qx9300, but I never changed CPU's in the laptop before, and I'm assuming I'll void the warranty.

There is a little sticker on one of the screw posts that says void warranty if broke, so i guess you would if your not careful in removing the sticker :) . As for changing the CPU its a piece of cake and would take no time or effort at all .

you want to get an es version that does not show es on the chip.
the chip will have all the intel stuff without it being marked es. it will show es once the chip is booted. these are usually the chips that are right before oem. or will have the same oem stamp (so to speak)

hey quad, next time can you take a picture of that sticker...im curious as to how it's put on there.

asus needs to seriously quit! will all the over clocking they are doing in the world of over clocking...to come down to break my sticker and void my warranty...lol

Ya there is different designations like QN or some such that tell you which is which etc and not just ES i believe so id need to know the better of the batch .

Its just a little yellow sticker on the screw post that a hairdryer will easily lift off without damaging so its no issue to me.

Im loving all the slamming going on in the sager forum over the W90 all buncha good negative stuff lmao . i love how everyone complaining or making false claims about this system does not own one and are basing everything on crysis which btw my system handles darn well considering the circumstances. this machine just came out and it was made by Asus not OCZ so we dont know what the future holds for it and all these early judgement calls are just stupid . Ill leave it at that.

that's what i was thinking on the sticker.
as for bashing, that's your 2 or three buddies from over here...lol
and i told them that you cant expect top of the line greatness for 2,200 bucks. it's just not a reality just yet.

i wont bash the machine because it has potential, (it's that iffy driver support that has me. and if you mod them and they still dont work. the makes it twice as bad. means they dont have all the correct dll files for the card as well.) but sorry that new egg version will never ever in life get 20k without an upgrade. just not happening.

and join the club. people been basing clevo and the whole lot of 9800m series cards since they came out...lol

and the number your looking for is Q174 if im not mistaken on the es version of the qx9300

so useful it is for single. people make new threads about single 3870's. i just type look below. i am going to do crossfire to. and it's clean. but in quad core and crossfire i average 47fps. i know i am doing stuff wrong. but i will resolve this.

quit twisting the scenario..*LOL* you aint slick.

but given a qx9300 and in the right hands it's plausible. but an off the shelf rookie just getting into the over clocking game...not in the first few months on his or her own.

So you got me thinking. If I ordered one with a P9600, shouldn't they ship me the Q9000 along with it, since I have essentially paid for both CPUs?

On the ES/eBay talk, buy from buy from this guy. But any QS processor will be 100% reliable.

Yes Kevin in a since you are correct they should ship you both CPUs but here is what i think is happening, You buy the machine from them, they take your CPU out if you upgraded it and either resell it or stick it in a vault somewhere incase a warranty claim comes up so they can toss it back in and then reship it to Asus . Either way though by you upgrading said CPU, they (xotic) are eating all the shipping costs back and forth and possibly to Asus as well and if they didnt charge you full whack on the CPU they would be losing out huge and quite frankly i still cant see them making much money, especially on a warranty claim where all the profits would be gobbled up instantly just in shipping charges. its all very grey how its handled . i asked this question in there forum and got the reply that you are correct Quadzilla in how and why they charge you in full or to that effect.

we all gotta start some where..lol
hell, i was a rookie when we started with the dv9 series...remember...lol
technically speaking..i am still a rookie. no shame here.

that is exactly what i was talking about. put your factory parts back in and ship it off. as long as your cpu was not the direct cause of your machine burning up.

Ya im sure as long as your CPU is not the cause of the problem then it should not be an issue either way and i doubt they would really hassle you much unless say they opened it and saw you took a jack hammer to the inside and had duct tape and coat hangers holding the insides together, then they may not want to help .

You know I need to actually beat DMC4 I liked it though it just did not play as fluid as the old ones, my combos and stuff where harder to pull off but as I got mroe moves and played more it got better.

Definitly a game you want a controller for.

Im downloading the crysis update patch and transfering files from my portible hdd to the laptop, after thats done I can start some benches.

    I guess I'll do Crysis & DMC4 tonight.
