Does anybody use a port replicator for the W90, or have suggestions for one? -
I need help..
After I upgrade to 9.4 driver, I get these..
What is EIO driver?
and
also, I get only one GPU seems okay.. -
Has any W90 owners tried to install XP. Are all the drivers available or some kind of downgrade pack. I'd like to install it on a separate drive for some older games.
Thanks guys -
Did you flash the bios on your video card yet ? if you did not then you wont be able to install the latest drivers. I have had the EIO driver thing before but i have never seen 3 instances of it before.

funny thing about extreme cpus...your suppose to be able to use the multiplier to over clock them....only machine that was partially doing that was the whitebook. technically, it's not even feasible to get a qx9300 except for the fact that's it's the fastest mobile quad. let there be a q9300 at a few hundred. no one would even consider an extreme anymore. except for the extreme user....unlocked pll's and fsb have made it possible for the budget system to get in the higher ranks and less need for an extreme cpu to compete.
wondering if they are going to do that like they did the qx/q9650 (qx/q9300)
i think qx would take a serious drop in sales...(personal opinion) -
hey striker! nice avitar!..
glad to see you back in the game with another machine.
and this new machine has my attention as well...guess we will finally get to put to rest..which card is better running under virtually the same conditions...this should be an interesting machine as well... 4 ghz over clock *snickering until it can be proven* with a fsb pump. should yield some pretty decent performance over all. and the 1920x1200 screen i have grown accustom to. looks promising to say the least.
flip side...looks like it will cost allot more than the w90 which comes with 2 vga cards..while the G71GX will start out with one.(from what i have read so far) (not sure what they mean by hybrid sli at this point. that would entail 2 to 3 vga cards total - speculation)
info taken from here

looks like clevo has direct competition brewing.... -
i dont even have my machine right now..mine is on loan to a computer store for a video editing and encoding project.
not just yet..have to see what these next line of machines are going to do.... -
i hate to even think how much your sager cost.... i actually looked into one until i saw the price

Yeah, Striker took a pretty sound beating on his first go around with the W90Vp.
Welcome back man. -
Striker any particular reason you picked GenTech over Xotic. I'm getting ready to take the plunge.
-
Hey this is sort of a general question but is the w90 the most powerful laptop on the market?
-
The only machine which is very close to it right now is the Clevo/sager 9262 with a desktop processor and dual 9800gtxs.

which is better anyway for crysis , the sage 9262 dual 9800gtx quad core 3.0 or asus w90 quad core 2.3ghz dual ati 4870hd?

forget about crysis. it doesnt support crossfire. with the asus maxed out you will get 30fps(1920*1080). and the sager on high you will get 50fps(1920*1200). i don't know about very high.
but overall i would choose the asus.(if you are going to change the cpu to the qx9300.) if you want to hear why. just let me know. -
Lol dondah crysis does support crossfire and at Very high i get 29 fps and i cant remember what john gets but its like 34 ? my desktop below gets about 50@very high
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i not saying i don't believe you but i really don't think it doesnt. i never get over 17fps(with my t9400, qx9300@ 2.53ghz, 3.06, or 3.2ghz, single or crossfired. )(single benchmark in sig.). mhooper got 18fps he was at 3.5ghz with his qx9300. e-wrecked was the same way with his x9100 at 3.5ghz. so that is why i have a tough time believing it.
i can show you the threads and post if you like. just give me 5mins. if it isnt to much trouble disable crossfire and see what you get. it is does make a difference then i will do some research to see what's up.
edit: i know it supports sli not crossfire. -
quadzilla:
30 fps with current driver veryhigh -
Sorry if this has been already posted but does anyone have performance results for the A1 playing warhead or far cry 2?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
because it says unknown spI. -
Dondah it supports crossfire where are you getting your info from ? if your basing your 3870 scores on my 4870s that may be why . We score similar in 2 benches from what i have seen so far ? farcry2 and 3dmark06 . I think your reading to much into those scores as thinking your cards are performing the same as mine. Johns farcry2 scores are very similar to ours but your not thinking your system is as fast as his are ya ? Devil may cry from what i saw our numbers were way off from each other ? and crysis as well. My single card runs are like 17 fps@very high in crysis but id have to run it again as i did it awhile ago.Cleary farcry 2 is heavily influenced by the Quadcore and may be why we score similar on any system running near 3.0ghz but that game in no way shows overall game performance across the board for all games.
Flashing both my cards to master netted me a total of maybe 2fps it was more like 1.5fps in my overall scores so that didnt matter atleast for my system and crysis nor did the 9.4s like everyone had hoped because of the supposed dx10 improvements. -
yeah. i mean we're benching, but when the gaming starts...these things are with in 1 to 5 fps of each other. in ultra high/very high/ maxed out what ever type settings...so that's consider even in my book. now if they we're like 10 to 40 fps difference...then call out the fps police..there is a problem...
when you say you flashed your cards....what exactly happen? we have learned quite a bit since then... maybe we can fix it. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
oh no i know your systems are better then mine.(not by much Lol.) but those scores i based off of crysis, is from other whitebooks.
farcry2 is a quadcore game i know that. i will dig them up and show you what i mean.
edit @johnksss. it's all here.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=363888 -
does this match up with how vicious flashed his?
and what are your scores in single and dual card mode? -
Yes if you really want to know if crysis is using crossfire then just disable a card run veryhigh and that should tell you if your system is using it or not .
If your having problems flashing a card where others have had success my option for that would back up your OS ie acronis then do a fresh OS install with nothing on it ,from there run your CPU at default and not overclocked and see if your results change . something in your OS or heavy overclock may be giving you that error and preventing you from flashing your card. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
-
also try what quad said. this is why we like to have backed up base images just for these cases right here.... -
I thought Ichime and E-wrecked both ran crysis benchs awhile ago and they had flashed there cards properly ? what were there scores ? you may not even have to go through all that trouble if the answers are already out there.
Again my flashing both my cards to master had 0 influence or almost 0 on my crysis scores so im not sure thats your problem .
Oh and i do not have a crossfire option but here is 2 ways to disable it . 1 Turn off catalyst AI 2. disable it from the device manager and in both instances just bring up Hw monitor or what ever you manage your temps with and see if the temps move on the second card . -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah i did. i pm'd him and i asked on his thread. it was unsolvable. he said that he thinks that not all cards might not be able to flash becuase he had one that wouldnt flash no matter how much he tried. i am installing the patched for crysis and then i am going to run it.
-
also, with talking with quadzilla...your profiles may be the culporate
-
Remember though john the crossfire profiles are just built into the driver and theres no choices like there would be on the Nvidia side and since he has 9.4 already he should be getting max performance already . If your playing games and your cards are both running hot then your using crossfire its pretty much that simple really . When i had 8.12 for example they didnt have a profile for mirrors edge so it didnt use crossfire and performance was messed up but now its pretty much locked at 62fps(maxfps) because it can use crossfire now . The game wheelman ran at 52 fps because the old drivers and the new ones the game runs at 110 or more lol . My CCC is like this for the Catalyst AI its set to standard on the far left and thats it lol thats all the choices i use and they tell you to leave it there for the most optimised profiles for most all games.

electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
If you want to test the theory hardcore, bench it, take a 3870 out, bench it again.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
ok i am going to try it now then to see if i get any improvement from my t9400 below. it states 17fps average single card(i pulled off the crossfire cable that time)
now i am going to run it qx9300 @3.2ghz. 9.4drivers tweaked and "crossfired". Lol.
edit; electrosoft you have the same setup. do you have crysis? -
quad
yep, im knowing, just trying to find dadah a way out...but if his driver profiles are mess up...thhis would also mess him up(speculation of course) and now that i think about it...didn't mhooper only manage to get like only 20 fps? -
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah he got 18fps with his qx9300 and it was clocked at 3.5ghz. so was e-wrecked with his x9100 at 3.5ghz. and i got 17 with my t9400 stocked with my crossfire cable pulled off.
-
-
Dondah did you monitor your temps on both cards regardless whether you pulled the cable off or not ? that second card should not budge or only a degree or 2 because of surrounding heat.
