ASUS C90S; battery problem?

i got a problem....running on battery about 3-4 mins im not quite sure but its a very short amount of time and my system gets a blue screen and restarts itself, this happen twice, but then i got plugged it in now and its running longer than before, does anyone else have this problem?

PROBLEM IN DETAIL:
i got the blue screen continuously, when i first start it up and it loaded to windows then 2 minutes later blue screen , restarted itself then load up to desktop again and again minutes later blue screen came up and restarted itself. this time i plugged it in and it didn't restart

 

I think I've read a similar problem the other day. It was a faulty RAM stick

 

Not sure if this will help however have you tried the "Battery Calibration" through the BIOS?

 

Vicious had an issue where he couldnt work from the battery... it was due to a incompatible stick of ram.

Did you orders your fully assembled?? which reseller?

 

Sounding like a bad ramstick. I know linux gets segmentations faults whenever it needs the bad ram stick, not sure about vista

 

hmm i had this laptop for about 2 weeks now? but usually im running it through AC plug. i got it from GenTechPC and im running on xp pro

 

If you have 2 sticks of RAM, try them each alone. That way you'll know if it is.

i am running on one stick of ram right now off battery and its running like normal no blue screen and restart, time to test the other ram stick alone

 

okay so the last post the ram let my laptop run for 10 mins and i was sure it was working fine, then it was time to try the other ram alone, and the first time it booted up, BLACK screen for awhile after the windows boot screen, so i held on the power button til it turned off, turn it back on again loaded to desktop and it was running for about 5 mins so i thought oh its working fine then i was on firefox for about 3 mins then it froze and blue screen came on so i think you guys are right it is a ram incompatible; i had it for 2 weeks now why would this acted up ? =[ but if only way to fix is buy new ram then i will do so, will 2gb corsair value select ram work fine asus siggested ram ?

 

The second RAM looks bad if I read well. RMA it.

You have a (at least)1 year warranty dude!

HDD are usually 5yrs or lifetime (if you registered them on the manufacturers website) and RAM are lifetime most of the time

 

RMA the whole thing? or just ram?

Well be prepared to exchange that ram a lot.... Gentech is currently trying different sticks of ram till one configuration works.... Try to get free shipping on it to or get from a local store so you. Can exchange it easily...

what do u mean get free shipping on it, like send mine back to them and they send me a new one for free right? sorry i don't do a lot of online shopping to know all this

 

Better be prepared to exchange ram a lot since youll need to fin a ram that plays well with your other stick of ram...

Maybe ask ken what ram is gentech using for their machines it seems they have less problmes with it (though not entirely free)

CPU uCode issues that cause BSOD on battery or game mode.
Me: oh okay then thanks because i was using 704 but i switch to 502 so we're just waiting for an update bios correct?
Brian:Yes, both 704 and 502 does not fix the problem, the new Conroe processors suppose to drop CPU from 22watts to 12watts at idle but BIOS does not do that, new BIOS update is needed.

 

hmmm basically what i meant is that if you order brand x and it doesnt work and you return it for brand y and it doesnt work and so on, youll end up paying a lot just for the shipping (all the sipping costs add up, unless its free shipping)

if the new bios makes more brands compatible then no problem

me: okay thanks for replying because at first i didn't have the problem of blue screen and restarting running on battery but i'm always using the AC plug so i wasn't sure how this problem occur
brian: the problem is because of the new sSpec (L2 Cache stepping) on the processor.
