Did you get the refund or the ASUS E-Store promised to ship them when stocks are available? I will be in a similar situation as some of the items I ordered are out of stock.

Yep they gave me my refund. It takes awhile for it to show up as it depends on the billing cycle of your particular credit card.

My credit card charges about 3% for Canadian$ to US$ and then another 3% from US$ to Canadian$. Did you complain about it? It will be nice if the stock level is known before order takes place. Maintaining an updated stock level is crucial to customer's satisfaction.

Ah. Yeah well I was pretty disappointed when they shipped the items to me but I guess they don't maintain the site as well and they don't have real time inventory updates.

As long as I got my money back then I'm fine. However I'm a little bit hesistant to order certain parts there now.

With such good parts prices, I will confirm quantities with e-mails before I place an order next time. E-mails usually replied within 12 hours.

First post! After searching the entire web long and hard to find a 2nd HDD bay housing part, I found this forum and you guys rock... even despite the attempts at sabotage by some resellers posting here - LOL!

Thanks again for all the astute insights and a special thanks to whoever originally found that ASUS parts site.

what do you mean about sabotage by some resellers on here?

I also thought you couldn't buy off the Asus e store since it's for resellers.

Probably referring to some of the resellers' disapproval of the site, especially because end-users can buy from it.

Hate to revive and old issue, but... there's a screen listed clearly as IPS. It's only $10 more than the regular screen. Any idea if it's legit?

    LOL CalebSchmerge.

Don't worry it'll come in handy and you will be happy you got it when you drop your notebook one day or spill coffee on it.

Oh wait, does it cover accidental? If not then, holy ^@#$^%#% for you.

Whoa there are different panels for the M6 (Z70) chassis. I wonder what the difference in them are. I know they're probably from different manufacturers, but I wanna know which one is best, so I can get one incase mine breaks after the warranty is over. hrmm

    Interesting.

I'm not too worried about spilling coffee, I don't drink it, but I hope I don't dorp it, I already put a nasty look stratch (really deep) on the outside, I guess it had to happen, but it sucks.

i'm trying to buy a new part from the website (or anywhere for that matter). The part is the plastic casing where your palms rest when you're typing. I don't care if it's black or gray (I have a W3V), but it's all scratched up. Anybody know what this part would be called or where i could find it or what part would be compatible w/ it on other Asus computers?

I would contact the ASUS store listed in this thread. They seem super helpful and knowledgeable about the product.

Perfect! I got it in today, it's just what I needed. I think i'm going to buy the frame that goes around the lcd too b/c it's scratched. Would anyone know if the ASUS store sells the black aluminum cover? I've seen it on other w3vs and like it better. I looked but I didn't see it on there, but so many of the parts don't have much description to go on.

I was under the impression that I could have the part and the computer sent in to my reseller and have it changed out for labor cost w/o voiding the warranty. Apparently this is not the case???? So, i'm not sure what i'm going to do. I would do it myself and try to be real careful except that the new part is a completely different color and so i can't act like it was never changed...

Any mods to ENSEMBLE units it will void the warranty, no matter who does it.

Though, you can always change it back if you need to send it in for repairs :p

So for HDDs and RAM, just put the original right (othewise I just voided my extended warranty with my HDD).

Yes. If you have to send in your laptop for any reason just "restore" the old hardware configuration like it was when you bought it. Otherwise the warranty will be voided.
