okay... so im having issues with my screen on my G1, i bought it about 2 years ago now. all what happened was i opened up my laptop and of course there was no display.... i was confused so i restarted my computer let it rest for about 30 min came bak to turn it on. and when i turned it on there was no screen! But i can hear sounds from the start up like when the shoe their gaming logo or what ever and the little chime when u log in. i thought it was just my screen so i decided to hook it up to another monitor to see if i could get the the screen to come up. but it didnt work. so i went to my second plan which was to hook it up to my TV through an HDMI Cable. well i hooked it up and NOTHING! and i know that the computer would automatically make the TV a second monitor..... please can some one please help me tell what the problem and if there is a fix for this.

I am 90% sure that its the graphic card or motherboard thats faulty. this notorious problem has plagued many g1s user as well. I got exactly the same problem sometime ago, and got the motherboard replaced with the newer version along with the new graphic card (9500m gs). So you better hurry before your warranty expires.

Edit: Hmm.. wait.. i am not sure about g1 though, I am talking about g1s in particular. Perhaps someone else can help

i think the G1 has a 7700 geforce instead of the 8600M GT in G1s, so it isnt due to the notorious 8XXX series GPU. But ofcourse it could still be gpu-related...

my G1 cooked its GPU about 2 weeks out of warrenty :( now i'm just hunting a replacement mainboard on ePay, as the memory, drive, cpu and screen are fine. as for the display thing, you might try to force the external display. i didn't get anything till i held down the function key "Fn" and one of the F5/6/7 keys to switch the display.. and then it was all garbled. *sigh*
