I installed win7 in this laptop and lost the functions of the quick shortcuts to muting, raising and lowering the volume. Does anyone know which driver is required for this?

it is generally the ATK drivers/utilities responsible for that.

I tried installing the one I found from ASUS for the N80VM model, Vista 64bit. It installed but the function still didn't work.

I did something that worked partially:

    run C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Hotkey\HControl.exe

Apparently the problem is that this program doesn't run automatically at startup, so I made a shortcut to this program at Start->All Programs->Startup, so it does run at startup.... but it didn't work... :(... so I have to run it manually at startup :(

This makes almost all of the fn+keys work. All except Fn+F2 (wireless)... but this isn't all that bad, because the special wireless button near the power switch works fine :)

    I hope this helps!

Does anyone know if this laptop's USB ports can power this type of Toshiba external hard drive?

It should be able to power all the 2.5" harddrives.

There is a new bios for this laptop. 209 is the latest.
