Yep I switched the lid of an LA with an LN.

All you need is a T5 torx and about 30 minutes of your time.

What are you saying?? Of course there's a max resolution... On most laptops there's an HDMI port that is capable of 1080p but if it has an VGA or Display Port it can support an higher resolution but with a upper limit.

Guys, there is something incredibly strange going on with the availability of this model, especially in Germany. I was interested in buying the 303LN since August, waiting for it to be available. As I mentioned 3-4 weeks ago, I stumbled upon the LA model in Saturn, even though it was not listed (and still is not) in all major listing sites here (guenstider, idealo etc). 1 week ago I saw the 303LN 4139 (with the i5) on demo in the same store (Saturn Freiburg). I asked them if they can order the 4141 or 4142 with the i7, and they told me that they couldnt, because its not available. Then I decided to ask directly to Asus DE, and they replied by telling me that all the LN variations will be available "probably" at the end of November (that was 2 days ago). Yesterday, during a stroll in Mediamarkt, I discovered by accident the 303LN 4142 on demo. I was shocked (and confused), so I grabbed one and run. Then I was informed that the 303LN has been available through the best part of October... Anyway, I am available for any questions!

Ha. Great that I got two people weighing in providing the opposite advice. Microfibre seems like the way to go, but do people use any sort of soap or just water?

If it's a glass touch screen, you can use any type of non-abrasive cloth (cotton, micro-fiber). I would not use hand soap, as that may leave a residue behind. If you need to use a cleaner, isopropyl alcohol mixed with filtered or distilled water at ratio of 1:1 should be fine. Just wipe it with a dry cloth afterward. I use cloth hand sanitizing wipes on my phone and tablet, then dry with another cloth.

If it's not a glass touch screen, then be more careful. Use micro-fiber only; use a dry one if possible, wet with filtered/distilled water if needed. You can still use the alcohol-water mix if there's something that water alone isn't removing; just dry immediately.

HEY GUYS PLEASE HELP SINCE I LOVE MY BRAND NEW LAPTOP
So i was eating some noodles and was far away from the laptop watching a youtube video, so after i finished eating, i had some of the oily sauce water thing that sometimes stay on the box of the noodles, so not realizing i had some on my pinky finger, i slided my finger across the touchpad and pressed the spacebar leaving oil sauce from the touchpad to the spacebar and then i just wiped it off with paper tissue and everything seems to be working. So my question is SHOULD I KEEP THINKING AND WORRYING ABOUT IT OR SHOULD I JUST IGNORE IT AND IF I SHOULD IGNORE IT TELL ME HOW?
Thanks, please help i cant stop thinking about it. :)

Thx for the info. The image u have showed is your own?? Have u done it??
I ask of it because I have a dubt about display.
In some images around the web I can see only glass and in other one the glass with plastic border as your image u have posted.
Can someone that haven't the qhd display say to me if the display is full glass??

    @billigs

Oh dear, after Cyberport wrote that the release date would be the 13. november I was kind of positive everything will end well, but it seems you're right and the nightmare goes on. Other shops like Atelco and hardwareversand.de posted that they very likely will get the Asus UX303LN on the 25 november. Two weeks ago Asus said release will be at the beginning of november, few days ago Cyberport said it will be in the middle of november and now it seems we're at the end of november. It's maybe better to stop posting any "possible" release dates and just give a remark if it's "really" in the shops.

For me that means two things: First, I will not post here anymore before the machine is finally out and I got one, because any postings about a possible release will just wrongly raise hopes. Second, I will wait till mid-november, if Asus then still can't deliver I will move on and will give the Schenker XMG C404 a try. The Schenker unfortunately costs much more, is a little bit noisy under load and has a weaker battery life. The good thing though is that it's availabe. So far best wishes to all users here in the forum.

Don't think there's a lot msata half size ssds... better forget that...
You want a second ssd or to replace the main drive/ssd ??

By the way, does the bios can recognize that msata half size as a storage device and boot from it?? I'm asking cause I don't have this laptop.

I am thinking about using the empty msata slot to increase the overall storage. But it takes the half size msata. I think somone else here has already used that slot for same purpose so don't think there should be any issues. I just want to see if there it is available in bigger than 128 gb capacity. Replacing the main ssd drive with a bigger one apparently voids the warranty

If you want multiple drives in this laptop, your best bet is something like this adapter for dual mSATA Theoretically one should be able to run two Samsung EVOs in it and get up to 2TB. I'd say running it in JBOD mode is the safest and most compatible.
Judging from available configurations of UX303 (one of them has two M.2 drives in a similar dual adapter), the laptop supports SATA port multiplier.

Where do I fit this? There is no space in the laptop. Just enough to fit a half size msata.
You mean fit this in place of main ssd?

Yeah that will void the warranty though. Somone posted official reply here from Asus regarding this. Therefore I m looking to make use of that empty msata port but there is only space for half size msata.

Hello guys. Here is a new owner of Asus Zenbook UX303LN-C4147P. I have bought it in local store here in Croatia. Here are the specs: Intel® Core™ i7-4510U (2,0 GHz /3,1 GHz TM), 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD, 16GB SSD, 13,3" FullHD (1920x1080) Touch, nVidia GF GT840M 2 GB, HDMI, Wi-fi, BT, Camera, USB3.0, display port, illuminated chiclet keyboard. There was also sleeve in the box as a bonus I guess. It costed around 1200 euros if I converted it well. Windows 8.1 was preinstalled. So far it works beautifully. I spend my time mostly in Visual Studio and Eclipse. I also tried running Photoshop and it handles it all great even at the same time. Touchpad is fine. Almost as the one as found on Macs but that does not bother me much since I use mouse most often. Touch screen is something I do not encourage on laptops but I tried just to test it and it works very well. Yellow color is as yellowish as it gets. Nothing strange there. Keyboard is great. Am not a gamer so cannot tell you how well it copes in that field. Biggest issue for now is that some software does not scale well on smaller FHD screens but I was aware of that. Strange thing happened yesterday which made me concerned but decided to move on. I had both Visual Studio and Eclipse under full load while on battery and laptop shut down without any warning or BSOD. I went to check if there was any specific message in the event manager (which btw does not scale at all well) but there was nothing specific written. Hope it will not repeat in the next 10 days. If it does I will return it of course. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Those stupid f***s at mediamarkt munich (einsteinstr) have no 303LE. I was just there and looked everywhere. Then I asked and the guy looked in his computer. Then we even asked an Asus guy who happened to be there too: they dont have it, never had it, wont get it soon.
But they have lots of L, LA, LN models...

Anyone knows what's the performance like of GT 840M while running CAD software? I am dead set on ux303ln model US version. Not much of a gamer but would be using it for light to medium CAD/CAE work. Any insights from this point of view?

so you have the half-SSD installed from factory in UX303LN-C4147P moel. You see the 16GB as a second partition or is next to main SSD to help for speed ? (as in 16GB+500HDD versions) ??

@Silver18... the relased date in Italy is about 13 November. (backstage_fds from HWupgrade ;) )

    @ Endurocker

The german models of the UX303 (LA and LN) I saw all had the matt Display with this border.

The Desktop picture shows the scaling at maximum. Right now I've set it to the middle which is comfortable to my eyes.

The Display seems perfect to me. Its far better than the glare screen of my old Acer 4820TG.
