Hey guys i wanted to replace the hdd and ram and i heard you have to remove the rubber holders at the bottom of the laptop, is it true (i hope its not) and if so can someone post pictures or steps or videos on how to disassemble the laptop?
    Thanks, much appreciated. :)

Thanks to everyone that has offered help I believe I may have fixed it with some of the follow changes (not sure which did it, probably a combination and almost all of these were changed on my router, the only thing I did on the laptop was change networks and update drivers):

    * Installed the latest drivers (not the ones on the Intel site, the ones someone provided a manual download to, the ones Intel only sent to OEMs for some stupid reason).
    * Set Wi-Fi Tx Power Level to Low.
    * Switched to the 5.0 GHz network instead of the 2.4 GHz.
    * Enabled WMM.
    * Disabled Frame Burst.
    * Set Wireless Mode to N only.
    * Used a Wi-Fi signal tester and manually set the channel to 36.
    * The time on my router was off by a day (this has caused weird issues in the past believe it or not).

I'm not truly convinced it has been resolved yet but so far so good. I made a ton of tweaks to my 2.4 GHz network trying to get it to work better but I never even got to test the waking from sleep issues because the speed was abysmal. My Moto X still has better download speeds on 2.4 GHz than this laptop has on 2.4 or 5.0 GHz but it's plenty fast enough. Provided I don't encounter any drops during use I'll be a happy camper. Amazon even credited me back 15% of the purchase cost for my troubles - and that's why they're the best...I didn't even ask, they offered when I emailed them about the issues I was having inquiring how long my return period. But otherwise I love this laptop (UX303LA).

Thanks for this! I will put an order in for the Lenovo and spend some extra $$$ as I'm really fed up with waiting.

Guys did anyone notice some kind of color shift on the 1080p matte LN version whenever you open/close an app or just randomly changing the contrast?
    Thanks

Have you had a chance to try it at a motel/hotel, airport or coffee shop? Those places always seem to have poor wifi. I have recently started carrying a USB wifi adapter with me. So, if I get poor wifi performance, I plugin the adapter, change connection to the adapter and check it out. So far, it has always been the local AP that is the problem.

You know, your wifi has been so poor and mine has been so good, you might want to consider an exchange or at least contact Asus and get a case number for future reference.

    Regards, Jim

My Wi-Fi has actually been great other than primarily issues with reconnecting after sleep, I don't think an exchange is needed (hopefully). It actually works fine everywhere I've used it BUT home, and that was resolved once I changed my AP settings. I'm just really not feeling like going through the ASUS RMA process, but I definitely appreciate what a help you've been!

Notebookcheck reviewed the german version (non-glossy/non-touch FHD-Display, 256GB SSD, 8GB Ram, I7 ULV processor). Here is the review in german, I'm pretty sure an english version will follow later:
Test Asus Zenbook UX303LN-R4141H Subnotebook - Notebookcheck.com Tests

After reading the review I want this device more then before. Above 9 hours battery life at regular work with wlan on, the ips-display is bright and good (though UX32LN got a better black level), fans are more quite then the UX32LN, in idle they completely turn off. Cons so far: The processor goes in single core only up to 2,8 GhZ (I7 should go up to 3,1 GhZ), slow Sandisk SSD.

Asus, please tell us what's going on, don't keep us in the unknown. I was thinking about to get a Schenker XMG C404 instead (it's based on the Gigabyte P34G v2), as I really don't want to wait anymore. I will wait for now and really hope Asus start to ship UX303LN in November.

I took mine to local Asus Repair Center. A tech there told me that he uses a heat gun to warm up the rubber feet and soften the adhesive. Then just gently apply pressure against a corner toward the center until you can get a plastic pry tool in to gently pry up. They will go back in with no problem. The adhesive remains "tacky" for an extended period of time.

    Good luck, Jim

Yeah peel the corners of the feet which are closest to the left/right edges and front of the laptop.

They are indented at that point and so they are easier to lift.

Okay, I think I'm out. This company makes it impossible to buy one of their laptops - I'm really disappointed.

In the past 4 months - since June - I've been trying to buy the UX32LN in Germany and then later the UX303LN that was set to be released at the end of July, but is plagued with endless delays.

On top of that I'm also really disappointed by the Notebookcheck.com-Test. Why would they make the screen of the UX303LN worse than the one of the UX32LN? Pointless.

I would give everything for an UX32LN, but guess I will bite into the sour apple and get a 13" Macbook Pro Retina instead and run Windows on it.

Oh Asus, WHY do you not care about your EU market? :/

In the hardwaredeluxx forum someone wrote that he phoned Cyberport to ask for a release and was forwarded to a buying agent. The agent told him that Asus had a fire in a factory, that would be the reason for the delay .I don't know if that's true or if someone just tried to start to start a rumour. At the end it's irrelevant, because my problem with Asus is that they don't communicate anyhting. If we would have a trustable release date it would be easier to wait, but hoping and checking every week since august for a release is ridicilous.

About the display: It's still a good and bright display, but yes, kind of sad that they use not the same as in the UX32LN. Maybe the new display needs less power, that would be the only positive reason for me. Seems to be a bad trend, as Acer did the same with the v5 573g. Btw, talking about the UX32LN, the tested UX303LN from Notebookcheck has the same blue cover and look like the UX32LN. It looks to me that they just sell the updated UX32LN from scandinavia here as UX303LN. At the same time they advert the goldbrown UX303LN with QHD-display and touchscreen on their webpage.

Thanks, that's interesting and explains at some point the actual situation. But that letter is from mid-september, it explains not why the ux32ln wasn't available the time before and why Asus did not released the UX303LN as scheduled in august.

The only positive thing that let me hope for a release in november is the fact that Notebookcheck got the test system directly from Asus Germany. I really hope Asus Germany doesn't give out test samples while knowing they can't release it in the near future. In case of the UX32LNs Notebookcheck got the test systems from Cyberport, just as a sidenote if someone wants to argue that Notebookcheck also tested both UX32LNs while they were out of stock ;-)

So I'm new to laptops and haven't used them a ton, but I'm a very fast typist and have used a variety of keyboards. I feel like the UX303LA keyboard is great but it seems to be missing keystrokes occasionally but that could just be me typing to fast and maybe not hitting the key? Or typing at an awkward angle? Anyone else having any issues or know of away to resolve these types of problems?

Windows 8.1 is fine and better than 7 in every way. Just use something like this to replace your start menu if it bothers you: The Windows 8 Start menu returns with Start8!

Pro tip: Right-click on the start button when on your desktop to get a handy shortcut to nearly anything you may want to use.

Also, I've uninstalled every Metro application and never go into the interface (other than the Start menu) which doesn't bother me. I can't stand Metro though and never use my touch screen.

I'll try that. The big thing for me is the mess they made of the control panel and settings. I feel like there's two unrelated screens for everything. But the yellows are horrible. This one is going back and I'm waiting for the German one. Build quality is great.

Yeah, I got the LA to avoid the yellow issue since I can live without a video card. And the control panel / settings I wasn't a fan of in Windows 7 and it didn't feel too different to me in 8 so I didn't really notice.

Use paper towel with little bit of water, but not dripping wet, then wipe the screen with it, then dry towel after to clear the water residue or streaks.
Don't use alcohol as it causes more streaks and possibly scratches.

NEVER use a paper towel on screen. It could quite easily scratch it.

Microfibre cloth is what you want.

Hi to all. I write from Italy. I want buy a UX303LN ultrabook, my choice is on the model with 128Gb ssd and 8 mb of ram. What I would know what are the most important problem for this ultrabook. Is really present the yellow dominance in the display color?? And if yes, there is a fix for this. Im a graphic design and I need to have a good color on my display. Have the wifi some problem? And, I have the last question, the display is all glass or have the plastic border? Some images and video show all glass and other a big plastic border like old model. Thx so much for all the reply.

    Hey duevvu,
I have the ux303ln with QHD screen. I don't really know which model your are talking about (probably a european version), but if you are a graphic designer I strongly recommend you to avoid the QHD screen as the yellow issue would really bother you (it doesn't when you are browsing, watching videos or playing game but the yellow reproduction is very poor).
There is no fix for now and even if there was one in the future I don't think it would be satisfying (yellows would still be off by a little bit and battery consumption would probably increase).
I didn't encounter any wifi issue, and my display is all glass.
So all in all it's an excellent ultrabook but I would suggest the HD display, the QHD would totally ruin your experience as a graphic designer.

Can anyone run 4K videos without stuttering on the QHD model? This youtube vid stutters for me but I can tell by the buffer that it isnt my internet connection:

GoPro HERO4: The Adventure of Life in 4K - YouTube

PS The colors are bad for everyday use and id think ludicrous for design work

UPDATE: Nevermind its just Chrome. IE of all things runs it fine.

The english version of Notebookchecks review of the european UX303LN with FHD-Display is out:
Asus Zenbook UX303LN-R4141H Subnotebook Review - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

    @duevvu
You maybe want to read the review by yourself, but in short: FHD-display of the UX303LN is still good, but not as good as the excellent display from the UX32LN. It's bright, but black level and contrast ratio is worse then the MacBook Pro and the UX32LN.

I have read the review and I have understood that this ultrabook is a good choice and I'll pay for it, here in Italy, 899 euro.
About the ux32l, is really hard find it in Italy.
Have u the ux303LN?? Have u issues to say to me?

No, I'm also waiting for the release of the UX303LN ;-) The UX32LN wasn't really available here and then completely removed after the anouncement of the UX303LN. The UX303LN is on delay since august, but hopefully will be released in november. I'm not a fan of glossy displays, but I must admit that apple did a great job to minimize reflections. For a glossy display the latest 13" retina is very good, but I still prefer a matt one.

you're one of those? really? How is it bad? Get Classic Shell to get your stupid start menu back.. and besides that 8.1 is better than Windows 7 in every single way. New Task Manager, less than 5 second boot up on a SSD, new File Explorer with Ribbon tabs to make finding files easier and it's just overall faster and more secure.

The Control Panel is the EXACT SAME AS 7.. with the added Ribbon Menu in the Explorer.. What are you talking about? You don't have to use the ModernUI settings menus. Just press Windows "X" and you can see your classic options

    Germany.

Cyberport added a new release date for the UX303LN with the i5 (FHD, 8GB Ram, 256GB SSD) and the i7 (FHD, 12GB Ram, 256GB SSD. Both configurations should be available on 13. november. The release date for the configuration I'm interested in (i7, 8GB Ram) is still unknown, but I hope they just overlooked to edit his page.

Has anyone located in the United States figured out a way to procure a UX303LN that has an FHD display?

I want the dedicated graphics. I do not want the ugly yellows. Slightly better battery life would also be a plus.

Please reply to the thread if you were able to get ahold of one and how.

Buy the LA and the LN and swap the screens around. Sell the LA with the QHD screen. Pretty sure there would be someone out there that would want it.

Yeah, I think someone on this forum did that. I think he switched the entire lid, not just the screen.

Can anyone tell me what is the max resolution output of the Display port ?!?
I saw the review on notebookcheck, and they state that it can be possible to get about almost 10hours of screen with wifi turned on. Is this what you guys are getting??

It doesn't have a max resolution. As long as the IGPU or dedicated gpu support it, it'll work.

Most people get about 7 hours with WiFi on and moderate usage, AFAIK.
