Well every cycle will take away from the life of the battery, but the health is a best guess rather than accurate figure.

That's correct, the wear/tear is gradually on the battery.
The percentage moves up and down but it is going down slowly.

The sad thing is, that my VAIO 13 Pro shows 0% even after one year usage..

Battery has 1-year warranty from manufacturers, but once beyond that time coverage then a replacement will be needed.

I don't think that here in germany there is 1 year on battery too. As I know there is only 1/2 warranty, but I could be wrong. Anyway, perhaps the 0% wear of the vaio could be a fake too ;)

You could claim warranty if it hasn't expired yet. Best to check with ASUS local office to confirm.

Bummer! Unless you can find this part in an Asus parts list, you are SOOL. It is probably one of those "parts" that only available in a technicians "spare parts bag:". Your only option may be to send it to an Asus Repair Center for warranty or non-warranty repair.

    Good luck, Jim

Hey guys, I have been getting wrong "low battery" notifications on my UX303LN. It sometimes says I have 10% left on my battery when I have 40-50%, and then quickly dismisses the notification and goes back to 40-50%. Tapping the bottom of my UX303LN doesn't help either. Might the battery be loose or something?

This looks like the rubber feet you are looking for perhaps. Cost of about $10 seems steep but if it is all you have :)

Hey guys, I'm looking at a new ultrabook. Is this a good one? Seems a great bang for buck considering I get dedicated graphics, 256 gb ssd and an extremely nice screen at 3200x1800.

Is there anything else to consider for ~$1400? (Canadian Dollars)

    Hey
I live in montreal, was also debating on getting the LN (1400$ on NCIX) or LA version (1100$ Future Shop on boxing week)

After reading about the terrible colours on the LN model I went with the LA model (Full HD, i7, 8gb ram, 128gb ssd) and its perfect =) Colors are beautiful. Will upgrade to a 512gb ssd when I see a good deal on an 840 Evo

I believe that this is the major difference between the two: the screen
    Asus Zenbook UX303LA
    Screen
    13.3 inch, either TN 1600 x 900 px non-glare or IPS 1920 x 1080 px touchscreen 13.3 inch,
    Asus Zenbook UX303LN either IPS 1920 x 1080 px non-glare or IGZO IPS 3200 x 1800 PX touchscreen

Hi all, I bought this laptop on 26/1/2015 but since then i am experiencing a lot of problems with the wifi connection. Internet is very slow, as well as the loading of the websites or the downloads.
I've tried updating the wireless card driver and with a clean start (no useless programs/services in background).
When i'm connected with a lan cable to the router the problem seems to be solved and the navigation looks fine.

I really hope it's not an hardware problem (even if looks like it is) since i bought it the last week. Brand new :/

Any suggestion would be really appreciated. :)

It is now February 2015. I am wondering if Asus has fixed the UX303LN yellow screen issue? This seems to be a major problem and want to make sure it is fixed before purchasing!

I have adaptive brightness turned off in the windows power options, yet the screen still changes it's brightness automatically, slowly shifting darker or brighter.
It's almost like the adaptive back light your get on TVs.

It's really annoying... how can I stop it from doing this?

Edit: After an experiment it is clear that the screen automatically lower the brightness on dark images and raises the brightness on white images.
    I want to disable this.

The closest fix that I have come across is mentioned in this thread below:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...03-nvidia-gt-840m.746873/page-80#post-9856614

It does seem to work well but make sure that you turn splendid to normal after applying the patch. I have used this fix for the last several weeks and the yellow don't seem to bother me at all now.

There are 3 places where you need to turn it off:

    1) first go in PC Settings, PC and devices, Power and sleep, turn off the automatic screen brightness

    2) click on your battery icon in the desktop, adjust screen brightness, change plan settings, change advanced power settings, display, enable adaptive brightness, turn to off

    3) on desktop, right click, graphic properties, power, click on "on battery", disable Extended battery life for Gaming, disable Display power saving technology

    Done.

Does anyone knows if ASUS is planning to change their QHD+ display on the UX 303 soon ? I'm looking at buying a new ultrabook and could wait if ASUS finally decides to address the yellows issues for their higher end display. because other than that the Asus seems to have a good chassis and performance for the price...The screen issues is really what's holding me back right now.

    Hey all,

I've seen a few posts recently about the color issues on the QHD screen. There was actually a patch posted by Eclipse_lite for this issue a while back, but it's been buried way back in the conversation. I figured I would go over it all again for anyone that missed it.

I have been running this fix for almost 2 months now. Depending on the brightness setting of the screen, the yellow issue is 85-90% fixed with this patch. I use this machine as my primary work machine for over 8 hours a day. The only time I even remember this issue is when I'm fixing white balance in poorly (yellowish) lit photos. It shows up there as a slight difference vs the screens on my home machine, but it's not bad enough to even affect my editing.

The patch is in this post from Eclipse_lite:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...03-nvidia-gt-840m.746873/page-80#post-9856614

    Basic installation instructions:
    - Plug the laptop into a stable power source and make sure the battery is charged.
    - Disable any hibernation, sleep or power off settings. This patch flashes a chip in the laptop. If the laptop powers off, goes to sleep or loses power during the flash, you may brick your laptop.
    - Download the .exe and .bin files from the post above
    - Run the .exe file as an admin
    - Click the ... button and locate the .bin file
    - Check the Verify box
    - Click the Start button, and leave the laptop alone until it's done (took about 10 minutes on my machine)
    - Once the patch is done, reboot.

Once the patch was complete the yellows looked better, but the other colors were oversaturated for my taste. Tomdot and I have both used colorimeters to generate profiles for our machines to fix that problem. You can grab them from our posts if you want to try them. Disable or uninstall the Splendid Video software first, it just gets in the way.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...03-nvidia-gt-840m.746873/page-83#post-9859404
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...03-nvidia-gt-840m.746873/page-84#post-9860104

If you're a pro video or photo editor, this might not be the right machine for you. If you're a normal/power user and worried about being annoyed by the display, this fix makes a world of difference. I'm a hobby photographer and picky about things like this and it's good enough that I'd buy the same laptop again if I had to.

Thank you for your answer. I'll will definitely only use the laptop for everyday use and I rarely edit pictures or photos. Judging by your answer I might not even notice the yellow issue that much. Quick question, the patch seems easy enough to run but is there any official installer provided on Asus website at this moment? It seems like if one of their tech used it and worked, they should put it on their website? When it comes to electronics and computers and always a bit hesitant to run patches that are not "official" and uses simple installers. Sounds easy enough anyways but if anything goes wrong I doubt I'll get support from Asus if they know I ran a patch that is somewhat "non-official".

The last thing that will do it for me is to have a working (no Asus Smart Gesture BS) multi touch driver for the focaltech touch pad in Windows.

Out of curiosity, any news from Asus in regard to official fix to their screen issues ? I'm sure they're full aware of the problem. Are they planning to just release new iteration of the UX303 with 5th Gen processor and a new high resolution that's not plague with color representation issues ?

That would be my thoughts. Chances are this is an inherent hardware issue with the screen and you can only do so much with software to correct the issue. I personnel have applied the fix and and disabled splendid and have found the color to be a non-issue. The screen itself is bright and extremely crisp. 4K videos look awesome.

One thing for the people who removed the cover to upgrade the hard drive, for example, but I just noticed (after one month :x) that my microphone is on very low level.
I had to set it up at +36 db and 100% volume so that I can be heared properly on Skype...

I think that the cover is not 100% perfectly in place, there a minimicrotiny gap so the tiny holes are a bit ouf of range.

Update: XPS 15 purchased while waiting for 303ln broadwell/screen upgrade

I just wanted to throw a lifeline to anyone who, like me, has spent the past 6 months researching every version of the 303ln in hopes of finding happiness.

I couldn't find the post, but someone many posts back suggested looking at the Dell XPS 15 which is selling refurbished on ebay for basically half of what they were new. It is from the end of 2013/beginning of 2014, but it is a beast.
DELL XPS 15 9530 i7-4712HQ, 16gb ram, GT750M (identical performance as GT840M), 512gb SSD, gorgeous 3200x1800 IPS touchscreen w/ perfect yellows .. for the same price as a new 303ln w/ its known issues.

I am so over the moon with this computer. It is a windows macbook pro in every way but has a touchscreen and is far cheaper. I can't say enough about the build quality and user experience. And the screen. Will make you melt.

It's a 15.6" screen which is larger than the 303ln, but i have to say that this is the way to experience such a hi res screen because when dialog windows are small, they are still readable and you can interact with them via touch.

If you want to hold out on a 303ln model that finally gets it right, more power to you. Asus is a solid company and makes good products. But, if you're tired of dreaming of a computer and tired of having to do so much work for someone else's product testing, then i highly recommend looking at this.

I played the new Wolfenstein at 3200x1800. It defaulted to Medium quality settings across the board, but it looked great and framerate was awesome.

I am in no way affiliated w/ dell or any reseller. I am just like most of you - a lover of amazing devices that unleash our potential and allow us to enjoy and express ourselves. I just wanted to share my experience because i see so much hope and frustration on this thread, and i don't think that's the experience we were all hoping for when thinking of an ultrabook.

    Is it worth it ?
Because so far everything works like a charm, except perhaps the high CPU consumption of the multigestures with the touchpad, but with a touchscreen it doesn't really impact the battery life.

Exactly, since there were issues it's a good idea just to grab the latest set, the rest of the hardware is very similar between the machines.

I can confirm that the high CPU usage is not resolved.
This is not something you can see through the task manager but using a software like CPU-Z.
Launch it, and when you use two fingers (for scrolling for example), you can see that the clock speed of your CPU goes to 3 GHz.

you tested with the V3.0.10 driver?

btw i just installed CPU-Z and checked the speed of CPU, it does go from around 2000 to 2700+, even 3000 Mhz when scrolling with 2 fingers.

I didnt try to install the new V3.0.10 driver yet though. Maybe it will fix this?

When im inactive on the trackpad :

You are better tracking usage and speed with something like intel xtu which maps usage and frequency to get a true load level for comparison.

where are these news drivers from? support.asus.com still show me 2.2.14?
I am more concerned I didn't know there was an update for weeks?

UPDATE: after the insallation, my CPU still spikes for 8 seconds at 2.4-2.5ghz
