No, Asus units purchased from Best Buy does not have the 1 year accidental damage protection, however, depending on the model, it may have 2 years warranty as opposed to 1 year.

If you want the 1 year accidental, you'd have to purchase it from an authorized Asus reseller.

I was just wondering if Asus really just fixes these laptops for the ADW or do they replace them? I've got an M50vm that I bought in August last year, and its got some little problems, my '3' key doesnt work on the numpad, it creeks, my fan runs loud, a lot loud that I remember. I just have a few questions like someone a few pages back spilled tea on their laptop, what did they replace? Has anyone managed to get a brand new laptop for this? And do I need my original OS on it? I'm currently running Windows 7, does that void my warranty?

    Thanks a bunch guys.

Asus will most likely replace the parts that are faulty. An entire notebook replacement are usually given when the notebook still fails to work after 3 RMA attempts or when parts are not in stock for a period of time or if the repair cost is greater than than a new notebook replacement.

You do not need to restore the original OS and a Win7 installation does not void warranty. There is a high chance that your HDD will get formatted and restored back to Vista.

Can anyone tell me if you order an asus laptop from the US, and ship it to Australia. Will the international warranty be valid? Someone told me sometimes in the fine print they dont cover it if it was shipped for sale or something =\

I dont know how that would make sense though.

AFAIK, as long as your notebook is purchase from the US/Canada and you've registered your notebook, you are entitled to the international warranty regardless of you location.

All Asus notebooks purchased in the US/Canada comes with the "20224" protection for free.

No, not Best Buy... sorry, i should have been more specific. Only US resellerssuch as gentechpc.com, excaliberpc.com etc will offer the free 2 year global warranty, 1 year accidental and 30 day zero bright dot protection. Most of Best Buy's warranty are 1 year domestic, some may be 2 years but it's rare.

Consider yourself and other RX05 owners to be lucky!

Also, AFAIK, the only way to activate your 1 year accidental warranty is to mail in your warranty card.

Yes, but if you have the warranty, then it shouldn't matter where it's purchased from.

I believe it applies to zipzoomfly too.

I wouldnt bet on the warranty if it truly isnt supposed to cover the best buy model - they look completely different (well, the online was has a lot of red in it). As soon as they received your broken laptop they'd notice this and might tell you they cant honor the warranty, so dont run over it in a year to try and get an upgrade. ;)

I don't know, if you send them all the info including a copy of the sales receipt and they say you are covered, you'd have a strong case if you ever had to make it a legal matter :) My G71 said it was valid and covered.

can anyone confirm me this? My cousin told me I had to send back warranty card for registering warranty to ASUS 14 days after purchasing. Is that true? Coz if I were supposedly buy from US and ship it back to Singapore where I currently in then it would take more than 14 days tho. :( Then warranty void? My cousin had such a bad experience before with Sony btw.

The ADW is US and Canada only, so if something happens and you want to have that covered under the ADW terms you will have to ship to Asus NA in California. You have 60 days from purchase to register - read the terms here.

The 2 year notebook warranty, however, is global -- so any hardware failure warranty work etc would be handled by the regional Asus service center that included Singapore.

The card that you send in is for your 1 year accidental damage warranty and the deadline is 60 days after the date of purchase as ClearSkies mentioned. Your 2 year global warranty can be activated by registering through the Asus website.

On a side note, Asus is very lenient on the deadline for sending in your warranty card information. I have sent my ADW card in 3 months past the deadline and Asus still honored my warranty.

According to the Asus ADW website, only EPC1002HA-BLK006X and EPC1000HAM-BLKAM1X purchases through Fry’s Electronics are eligible for the 1 year accidental damage warranty.

The accidental warranty is still currently being offered, but only for certain models depending where you purchased your ASUS notebook.

doesn't help either...Asus laptops are a mess. I had one before I bought my Mac and honestly it was one of the worst notebooks I ever had. It always broke down while I was working on important stuff for university and sometimes lost data and so on. Not to mention the lack of capacity of the hard disk.

Is any warranty covered by ebay's "Brand New" asus laptops? They should be right?

Also, if the computer was to break, do we have to pay for shipping ourselves? Sorry if I'm a noob. Just wondering if I should buy it from eBay or not. Cause they have awesome prices with BCB...

    1. Unless the Ebay seller is an authorized Asus reseller (you can look up on the Asus website), I would not expect that any warranty is implied or covered by Asus because what you're technically doing is purchasing a previously owned notebook on the secondary market (even though it may never have been opened) - if you ever needed the warranty and Asus said no you shouldn't be surprised, but maybe they would still honor it anyway. I believe the warranty is transferable from owner to owner if the proper paperwork is filed with Asus.

    2. Several authorized resellers also have Ebay storefronts, and that's a different story since those are Asus direct products. Anyone can list a notebook as "Brand New" in their listing and meet Ebay's definition of the term, but it's what Asus thinks that counts when it comes to warranty coverage.

    3. Under the global warranty terms, Asus pays for shipping both ways and you get a prepaid label to send it to them if you file an RMA. However, if it goes back via 2 day it is usually returned via Ground.

Are notebooks from Amazon and Tigerdirect covered by this warranty? I'm interested in getting getting either a UL30A-X5 from Amazon or a UL20A-A1 from Tigerdirect. Also are all notebooks covered by the Zero Bright Dot guarantee? The Asus warranty information on the website seems kind of vague about which Notebooks are covered so I'd like some reassurance.

I filled out their online form for the ADW and it said my laptop qualified. Then it said to mail them a copy of my sales receipt and the email confirmation of the ADW that I would be sent by them.

The email never came and it's been 24 hours.

I called Asus Customer Care - omg, the volume on the rep's phone was so low, and the background SO noisy! - but basically, she said "keep checking email and then if it doesn't arrive, call us". Well, that's exactly what I was doing already, wasn't I?

In any case, useless to call Asus but how long should it take for a confirmation email to be sent? And yes, I checked the Spam folder...

Mine isn't really an accident, but a key from my keyboard fell off and I can't put it back on i(it won't snap back).

I never sent in my warranty papers and I've owned my Asus for 11 months. Can I still get a replacement keyboard free of charge?
