Yeah I managed to get all of mine working too. It ended up just detecting that I had an optical cable connected to my new sound system.

I'm running the 9633 nVidia drivers and it all looks good. I get a lower framerate in WoW than I do in XP at the moment but I suppose I can't expect too much from a beta driver.

I also noticed that if I alt-tab out of WoW and try to do other things, there is a serious lack of RAM making it horribly sluggish, my MP3s even drop out here and there. Guess 1GB isn't quite enough.

I love how it just installed my printers without drivers, even the new network printer.

One thing I have just noticed on my A8Jm is that in the Advanced display settings it says that my vid card has 504MB dedicated video memory and 255MB of shared system memory making a total of 760MB. Anyone know how to disable the shared memory in Vista? I'm pretty sure in the BIOS I have it set to 0.

Any luck with Bluetooth yet? That's the only thing stopping me from using Vista at the moment

I tried Vista_HDA5298.zip and either it didn't install properly or it just doesn't work because my digital audio is all I get, have to plug my optical cable into my sound system to get sound. There is no sound coming from the built-in speakers at the moment. Though I can't see any noticible difference in the mixer or control panel so maybe it didn't install.

As for Bluetooth, I hadn't looked at it until now and it doens't appear to be installed, there are about 4 devices not installed in the device mangler. I'll have a look around for it, I wouldn't mind using it too.

I have something called "high Definition Audo device" installed, but it does absolutely nothing, whether VIA the built-in speakers or digital output :D

Well it might have been Vista_HDA5298.zip that got my digital working. I've had that High Definition Audio device since I first installed the OS.

Trying to stay on subject here, but will anyone be attending the Windows Vista Install Faire which will be coming up in the next 2 weeks or so to get RC1 or was it the pre-release version of Vista Ultimate installed?

Ahh, I torrented my ISO, it is the actual RC1 MS released to the beta testers a while back. Build 5600. If that is what your question is.

I used the cd key MS sent me from beta2.

How have you all found the battery life under Vista? Does the increased usage of the GPU under Aero reduce battery life a great deal compared with XP?

i'm getting random memory_management errors in RC1 - havent tried previous builds but its really annoying coz i dont get these errors in xp

edit: did a memtest and it failed. strangely i experience no such problems running xp even with full load - from running graphic design applications that max out the memory etc.

One tool I like to use to test memory is GoldMemory, it comes on the Hiren's BootCD.

I've seen bad memory work perfectly in XP for ages, until at some point something starts to trigger it all the time.

One system I had had bad RAM that was causing problems in Linux but working fine in XP.

Build 5728 runs better than RC1. I've noticed that sometimes the sound doesn't work on the computer, and I have to reboot for the sound to work.

Also curious as to how to turn off the touchpad with Vista? The buttons do not work on the v6j.

How about camera on S/Z96J ? Does it work fine? Also a general question, when you installed vista, did you use any original s96J drivers or Vista has them already? How about ATI drivers?
    Thanks in advance

Update. I installed Vista and found drivers for HD sound and ATI, however I cant make the webcam to work. Has anyone managed to find drivers for webcam? Also, do I need to install any other drivers which will improve the performance? I am not sure if I should install any drivers from the XPdrivers CD.

Try clicking it once then clicking "mixer" below the volume slider.

I might install the 5728 build tomorrow night during WoW maintenance :p

Well I installed build 5728 on my A8Jm tonight. I just formatted the the drive I had vista on before and installed the new one from within XP. It all went fine, no hiccups. Digital audio is working out of the box, but analog (built-in speakers) is not.

People will be pleased to know that during installation I noticed my bluetooth light start flashing. Windows has installed the built-in bluetooth adapter, there is a bluetooth devices icon in the tray now which I used to connect my Nokia N70 phone. Of course Windows didn't have drivers for the phone, but it at least knows it is a smart phone.

I'm using the 96.33 nVidia drivers with the modified inf from LaptopVideo2go - http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10932

Now to see if I can get my Nokia phone working properly.

Don't you need a core 2 duo cpu to make use of Vista's 64 bit.

i'm waiting till real full non beta Vista comes out to get a merom core 2 duo processor upgrade.

Yeah the Core Duo is only 32bit, I am running the 32bit version (x86). I don't think I'll be jumping into doing an upgrade to a merom CPU in a hurry, let alone installing a 64bit OS. I'll be making sure I have all of the drivers in my hot little HDD and that all of the software is working properly before then.
