Okay, true, this has not even been released yet but I'm sure the plans to use it already exist. Does anyone know when ASUS will be coming with the X1600? I was disapointed with the performance of the X700 compared to my current desktop GPU (600GT) so I decided to postpone my laptop plans until something better comes along. Anyone know when that will be?

Don't expect anything like this till spring.

Mhh, that is disapointing. I hope that is early spring.
But thanks for the info. -
Given how much trouble ATI is having getting the desktop versions to market and in high volume, I also agree. This piece of hardware will take awhile to show up in all but a few high end small laptops, eg voodoo. I think the rumours of a December showing in the hardware section are way off. Also how many laptops have an X800 in them???anyone??? That piece of hardware was announced about this time last year, it was supposed to be the king of kings, which it was on paper but as yet there are like 2 or 3 notebooks with the gpu....essentially making that one a paper launch. I fear that this will be the same, unless ATI can get high volumes to manf. at a decent price, I dont see that happening untill at least mid 1Q 06. Thus as Justin said that would put a spring relase on the cards for companies like ASUS.

oh man I kinda wish I could've held out until then since having that videocard in a laptop would be freakin' amazing.
Oh well this x700 will do for a while, as hardcore gaming is done on my desktop Callisto
Cheers,

Very nice. No date when it will arrive yet nor complete specs from the looks of it but it will be a wicked laptop. Thanks.

but i understand i also love the w3v form factor and providing
it with the latest hardware it would be really nice
i'd prefer nvidia though for the linux compatibility issues
but anyway...
