I'm just wondering if Asus makes any laptop models with a 15.4" WSXGA+ matte screen (or at least allow for that option)? It seems from reading some of the threads that the new V1J fits this description, correct? Are there others (as most seem to come with "Colorshine" glossy)?

    thanks.

ASUS V1JP is a WSXGA+ Matte screen, from what others have stated, as for others with matte screen, sorry nothing else, that i can think of.

You sure about that Danny? I'm willing to place a friendly wager on the fact that the V1 is getting a glaretype colorshine display.

I wish I could trade my matte WSXGA+ on my Z70VA for a glossy WXGA. The laptop has been virtually unused. The fonts are just too small for my eyes (yes, I have increased the font size.)

haha, Justin, the site states, Colourshine = Glossy, YET, the A8js states Colourshine (Glossy) it weird how asus is distinguishing ColourShine and Colour Shine (Glossy).

From my understanding, the V1J (Yonah) is matte, but the V1JP Glossy or matte? I'm sure it will be matte, but then again, who knows...ASUS throws curveballs all the time. haha

We know that Glossy is the way to go...but business users prefer matte...also from my readings the V1J has narrow viewing angles, meaning there's a good chance it is Matte, and we know glossy allows for increase in viewing angles, except the fact the A8js, :S.

Have you considered ebaying the thing? Using it as a paper weight is kind of a waste...

Anna.... you can buy a glossy wxga screen on ebay (buy the best screen out there), and swap it out with the wsxga+... all you need is a wxga power connector. Its a easy thing to do if you know a bit of disassembling electronics. :)

No no, I understand that bussiness people still can't be swayed into glaretype displays - but that's more because they doesn't understand what quality ones are like, and if any more would be good for a matte display in terms of sales, it might be the v1 since it's being pushed almost entirely for that market.

However, everything I've gotten on the V1 we're getting clearly shows a glossy glaretype as the screen type.... and even the december US print catalog shows glaretypes as the only option..... that's all. Personally, I want a glaretype because I'm probably going to be using one of these quite a bit, but in terms of the main people who would be buying them... I may prefer a matte display, only because it would be an easier sell to them... I just don't think that's correct.

Right I agree with you, business user will be using laptops primarily in office settings or vast amounts of overhead lighting, thus glare type screen, would pose problems, since glare would affect their productivity.

But regular users like glossy screens, because generally it results in better colour, saturation, viewing angles, etc...just have to deal with the glare.

However your right it would be hard to sell a business notebook to a business man who wants Matte, and if the V1JP comes with glossy.

This is Danny, the post you mentioned was from another member of our team. We have couple of guys working on the posting here, that is why our signature is "notebook team".

You are right, it is glossy.

Let me clarify this here for him, V1J is 2006 Q3 model; V1Jp is 2006 Q4 model, it is coming soon with glossy screen; V1Sa/Sv is 2007 Q2 model with Santa Rosa.

    Thanks

    Danny
