Just wait for a user manual to be put online in PDF. We will soon know if the HD and RAM can be easely changed.

I'm thinking of getting the white 4Gb/7" white one. I'm in Canada and they are available for $399 CA online (from TheSource) or in store (from a & b Sound).
I am also wondering what kind of games this will be able to play. How about a game like Wolfenstein ET - thats one of my favorites and I hears there's a Linux version! Anyway, will it even run on the Eee at lowest settings? I'll still probably get it even if I can't game on it. I'll need to buy another 4Gb usb drive which will only cost me another 30 bucks.
This machine is such a godsend - its timing couldn't be more perfect. My crappy acer 5102's been giving me problems since the 1-year waranty expired; from disk failures to missing drivers... And guess what, I have a budge of exactly $450!! Thank you Asus/Intel.

Wow, me either xD The only time I'd ever use it is when I'm on the phone and typing with one hand - then I'd use whichever shift key was closer to the letter...

Erm, I know this thread is old, but I just got news on the Eee and read the entire thread - all 21 pages of it.
    Some questions:

    1) Will this model have the 1 year accidental dmg waranty by asus in addition to the standard 2 year one?

    2) Probably no one knows for sure yet, since there aren't many flash-based memory laptops around, but how reliable/durable will the flash memory be? Will it be easily replaced?

    3) How do I connect a printer to this laptop? I hear Linux supports plug and play with usb most devices?

Anyway, I'll be moving from windows xp pro to Linux (Xandros I hear?) I'm willing to take the time to familiarize myself with the new OS as I'm tired of windows... I might even install linux on my new desktop when I get it. This laptop will serve as my primary notebook - even though most don't suggest using it as such. My last notebook PC (as stated in my previous posts) is highly unreliable - I won't risk moving it or unplugging it else it crashes. I'll be using this for word processing, email, chatting, music, and the odd game if it is capable of doing so...

Hmm, the 10" model looks a lot like some of the other notebooks offered by Asus (in terms of design). I prefer the 7" design over the 10"; its a lot more unique looking and much more simple and clean - it actually reminds me of the old apple ibooks for some reason... the bigger model will come out at the end of the year - I can't wait that long and don't really need to. The 7" looks nicer, will be quite a bit cheaper, as well as be noticeably lighter than the upcoming 10" models. I've chosen to go with the white model as I've never owned a white notebook before. Looks very nice from what I've seen in screen shots. I do agree, however, that the screen size should be more appropriate to the body of the notebook - the black border around it with the speakers makes it a bit toyish-looking; I'd much rather have tiny speakers on the back or something than the tiny screen. I guess, it wont be so bad in the end though, I'm used to using small screens...

No accidental warranty, only the standard 2 YW.

They have a few million rewrites/writes, I wouldn't really worry about it. With the Eee, I'd think it'd last longer with the notebook itself, like 3-4 years. The myth of a low life SSD is quite over exaggerated.

    Plug and Play.

As for the 10" Eee, it's been scrapped from what I hear.

Man this thing is quite interesting.

I'm wondering whether or not I should get one.

My aging Z70Va and my aging body is making me look for a smaller and lighter solution to my mobile needs.

I'm thinking I'll get one of these and use it for light note taking wherever I go and for more powerful tasks I'll use my dear Z70Va (Celia).

Of course if I do get one I'll have to think up another name for it. Of course starting with the letter C.

    :)

You can also get it from Costco.com

With the 90 day return policy, I think I might just give this a try, to see if the next generation of the EEE is worth waiting for.
