My Zalman NC2000 was delivered today by UPS from Amazon to the front porch.
Of course, it's not there!
Another week's wait for this! -
did they go to your neighbors? Thats what FedEx did to me the other day...

Yes..mine was a front door drop. but they dropped it at the wrong address. They dropped it at #96 on my street instead of #95.

NC2000 won't really lower your temps anyway. Unless you're like me and game with the notebook on your lap, then it makes a difference of ~7C. -

Will be sticking on a few copper ramsinks too for good measure. -

So did temps stabilize?
If temps are acceptable this is a very nice combo.
Any changes? -

Using those settings but higher clocks on the memory (950) I max out at 81C. -
^liar...i thought u had high temps? or is that 81 after new thermal paste + bottom panel mod etc?
-
Both. Forge's temps were always lower than everyone's because he runs everything at 1366x768 (limitation of his display). Our temps are higher because we're pushing >2x the pixels so it heats up the GPU more. I'll post a pic of the temps I reported later tonight after I'm done studying. I'm guessing my temps will drop even more after copper is added. -

Not doubting you, but a screenshot would be nice, along with ambient. (And that is with no cooler, right?)
I guess it's back to the drawing board for me. T9900, where art thou. -

I tried capturing the ambient (plus other temps) using fraps instead of printscrn and I ended up recording a 10 sec video of furmark instead.Anyway, its been hot here so I've been running the A/C all day which probably helps. The GPU temp kept going back and forth between 81/82C so the average was probably somewhere inbetween. I actually had to run this a few times to get this smooth line because in other runs it would hit 80C and the fan would shut off and it would loop back to 88C, kick on and shut off again at 80C (roller coaster like Element's pics). Temps in CPUID HW Monitor were as follows:
THRM: 68C max
CPU: 60/57C max
GPU: 88C max
HDD: 43C max
I did not use a cooling pad either. The zalman is actually quite useless for that stuff, it only hleps when I'm gaming on my lap (which is why I bought it). The hole mod itself takes care of the bulk of cooling. -
Some numbers on my new machine
Yesterday was a busy day, got my G60, installed a T9900 with IC7 and so far so good. Ran Furmark at 1024x768 res(wouldn't run on higher res and I have no external monitor) for 600 or 700 seconds and temps maxed out at 90c with ExtremeTurboMode .( I think I saved a screen shot but have no idea were it is, any help and I will post it).
Love this laptop so far.
Yes FurMark makes the GPU run hotter than I would want but that is only when running FurMark, during gaming and after running some benchmarks for a while highest temp I seen on the GPU was 84c.
That's not too bad at all.
Gotta say I love the backlit keyboard and new color, this is a very well built laptop.
Only fault I could find so far is that the keyboard has a little flex in the middle but really no big deal.
People have complained about the low screen res but to me it looks great and the LCD is very bright and colors really pop.Wireless works great with no drop off in signal at any spot at home.
For the price you pay this is well worth the money....so far..... -
Tried Ntune but system crashes.
There are many versions anyone know which one works for this laptop?
SetFSB # would be very helpful too! -

Go to Tev's optimization guide.

I used Nvidia system tools and am running at 550/950/1375 using the performance utility in there. Also when you save out of the utility it will prompt you to using the custom settings when you boot so you don't have to do anything manually. That worked perfectly for me.

I want to change mine but not sure what the true numbers are. -

Got my Zalman. GPU idle drops to 49C - yay.
-
Thanks!
Downloaded Nvidia System Tools and everything works great.
At these speeds my system runs very stable while keeping temps at a pretty decent level.
But when gaming for a few hours temps never went any higher than 83c.
Used IC7 on GPU and CPU.
This 3DMARK06 run is at the optimum clocks my laptop runs, probably could go hire but things get a little wonky when going any higher.
So far so good.
Really lovin this new laptop. -

I will be getting those this weekend.
I just installed an X-25M G2 80GB SSD into it, and will be playing Dragon Age for now. -

Just finished Post-Op surgery.
Installed ICD7 on the GPU, Chipset, and CPU.
My idles have dropped about 5 degrees (GPU), CPU remains the same, Chipset temps dropped.
Furmark 1920x1200 Extreme Burning Full Screen for 5 minutes hit 87C top, leveled to 85C. I hit F9 but it didn't take the screen shot for some reason.
This is sitting on a NC2000 on lowest fan setting, running GPU at 550/950/1375, and CPU at 3.3ghz.
Not bad, I'm done with additions (now has an 80GB INtel X-25M & the stock 320GB 7200 drive sitting in it).
I may upgrade to 8GB of RAM at some point, but I think this is it.

Are you still having troubles with the GPU not downclocking in 2D mode??
If so I had the same problem. Turned out I had to change my registry "PerfLevelSrc" (there's two of them under video/0000 and video/0001 set the registry value to 3333 (i think) if it's set to 2222 that turns it off completely. 3322 causes downclock on batt and full clock on AC pwr. And 3333 causes downclock in 2d mode and ramp up with 3d.

The screenshot should be in the Furmark directory.

Poor Panda. Try 1200 seconds or until you hit hit 90C, whichever comes first.
And don't forget to tell us your ambient. If you're running this Furmark trial in the Gobi Desert it would affect your temperatures. -
yea, run for longer, it needs to be at least 20-40% screen width pixels same line to be considered stable.
-
CitizenPanda Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
There you go, slightly resized:
Same settings, maxed at 89C - 20 MINUTES!!! Back down to 48-49C in a few minutes. Ambient is 60-70F (Whatever the heat is set to in the apartment).
I also realized this is running 2 monitors, which may be more stressful for the card. -
And btw would mind ruining intelburntest, i just want to see how it compares in temps to a T9600.

Stress level at maximum. Default number of passes is good enough for now.

lol u dun wanna see my C2Q intel burntest
nice temps pre-modded btw, good to see 89C FURMARK with OC. ive tried mine at 585/950/1475, i get horrible results...16xQAA, 1080p, xtreme burn (try doing that to see if there is any difference), it maxes @ 98C b4 highest fan speed kicks in and stabilizes @ 98 as well...sad sad.
one thing i find weird, how are G60 owner reporting much lower GAME temps but similar/slighly lower furmark results? -
Non-extreme burn has a different result in the screenshot (because the texture is moving)
-
wait, is his xtreme or not? that looks the same as mine so i guess its xtreme burn mode?
