    I'm looking at these two machines and wonder which is best for gaming.

    The SV is $70.00 more than the TA.

    SV = Intel i5 2nd generation + nvidia 540m
    TA = AMD A6-3400 quad-core + 6720G2

    Where did you find a K53SV for $470-520?

    Also, I'm pretty certain the SV is more powerful.

    The 6750GPU in the k53TA is actually more powerful (just a tad) than the GT540M. it's more on par with a GT550M. But the A6-3400, even overclocked, isn't quite a match for a 2nd gen core i5. With overclocking the K53TA will be about the same.

    the primary advantage of the K53TA is that since it uses an AMD CPU and GPU you can use pure AMD gfx drivers with no need for messing around with loading the intel switching driver then trying to overlay AMD drivers and hoping it works.

    i5 + 540m.

    540 is usually a little faster than the 6650m.
    and crossfire is pretty much useless.

    Oh yea, I was thinking of the HP with the 6750. The 6650 is definitely a but slower than a GT540M.
